Ah!  Nothing like a nice relaxing day out in the sun!  I could just take a nap right now!  Yawn…It’s just…so…warm…and there aren’t any bandits around…no Naga…just…so peaceful…zzzz

Amelia has been laying near Lina in the grass soaking up the sign. She peeks open one eye to glance at her friend as the fiery-haired one starts talking. 

“Who’s Naga, Miss Lina?”

Miss Lina! I... umm... What brings you here?

That subtle change is rather like when one’s ears pop in a plane, only it carries a kind of acid tang, like an upset stomach.  And then, there he is, fully manifested, the uncurling of reality’s dark underside into a single glossy-haired sharp-eyed being. 

And by the time the princess turns to address him, Xelloss’s eyes are closed again.  Fortunate for her, he’s only in the mood to monitor. 

     “Miss Amelia,” he chirrups back, “whatever are you reading, so engrossedly?” 

The princess quickly snaps the book shut and buries it with the other books and papers on the table in front of her. If he had noticed, the tome she had held in her hands just moments before was one on experimental magic. Mostly about chimeras. 

“Nothing,” she replies. “Just some light reading.”

Amelia tilts her head to the side a bit.

“What are you doing here? ...Not to be rude or anything,” she quickly adds. “It’s just that I wouldn’t expect you to be hanging around Seyruun.”

      “Hel-loooo.”

Amelia is sitting lost in a book when she senses a subtle change to the atmosphere. She brushes it off until she hears a greeting. She turns trying to hide the small startled jump her body responded with.

“Mr. Xellos...”

My mother... my mom was amazing. She could do anything. At least it seemed like she could do anything. I was only 8 when she...

Did you know she managed to marry a prince? She wasn’t royalty or any kind of well-known nobility. She wasn’t even of Seyruun. She was a sorceress from another country. A pretty skilled one at that. Her specialty wasn’t really white magic though. I heard it was quite the scandal when daddy brought her home when he returned from a delegation. I suppose that’s why my sister and I tended to dabble in more than just white magic and shrine maiden duties. My mom persevered through all of it though. She wasn’t afraid of anything. She was so strong.
