Pixar Exhibit @ Museum of Science

Today I headed to the Museum of Science to check out the Pixar Exhibit. Although targeted towards young children, the amount of information given about the programming, techniques, and technology that goes towards creating an animated film was enough to suffice anyone’s interest. 

Even before entering the exhibit, there were some cool contraptions around the Museum. One being this very large Audiokinetic Structure. Every part of this machine had smaller contraptions making their own unique sounds. Connecting all of them together, you get a nice and unique composition of sounds (like a really dank mixtape). 

This was also a really nice lighting piece that changes the images you see in the plates when you look through a spinning wheel in front of the display. (Did not read the description on this) 404 Informative Description Not Found

The actual exhibit was well designed and featured many different interactive displays for everyone to use and become exposed to the different aspects of animation (lighting, rendering, stop motion, face-rigging, motion detection, hair physics, environment simulation). TLDR: Lots of interactive displays to teach about all the shit that goes into a Pixar film.

Bar Crawling in Salem We took a ferry from the city out to the village-like town of Salem (where the Salem Witch Trials took place), and spent the night bar hopping. Most of the bars there are cozy and compact but there are a few larger venues and there was never a insufficiency energy anywhere you went. I also heard that Salem gets crazy during Halloween time kekeke Hangovers suck

It’s the evening before work starts again after Labor Day Weekend and I’m enjoying organizing the apartment. Is this what adult feels like?

To be fair, I ordered take-outs and Binge-watched Parasyte during the rest of the long weekend.

Quincy Market

One of the many shopping districts in the Boston Area. Filled with clothing stores, restaurants, book/comic stores, and street vendors, this is a really nice place to hang out. Almost everyday you can find a street performer here as well. If you visit the many candy stores here, you can strategically get many free samples. ( 1 upon entering, several among browsing, and to top it off, 1 among exiting) #fuckyea #freestuff #opensource

Pride parade, Fillmore Jazz Festival, J-Pop summit. It feels like I can always find a festival in the city on weekends.

Oh and I got a horse mask.

I got an apartment up on Nob Hill, one block from Grace Cathedral and the Masonic Temple. I was too lazy quite busy when I moved in, so the furnitures didn’t all come at once, I populated my room with items little by little.

Studio room, no kitchen (but I drink Soylent! ...Yay!), the toilet makes farting noises after use... but other than that, really digging the location. I get to rollerblade down 20 degrees streets to work everyday.

The walls look pretty empty. Maybe they can use some instruments and arts hanging there?

On my first week, I had to go visit the downtown Boston area. Right off of Copley was a large and bustling city. It’s not as large as NYC but it’s much cleaner and organized. The Westin Mall is also pretty big as well. Looking forward to walk the streets here when work starts and I get off my lazy ass. - Danny

Three years ago, after a long trip from Mother China to Australia and back to US, I visited San Francisco for the first time. I remember having the thought as I climbed up Coit Tower, “I surely wouldn’t mind living in a city like this.”

I moved to the city a month and a half ago. I don’t mind it at all.

Understanding how to be a fun “Adult”

Two months ago, we graduated from RIT to dive into the world of creative and innovative technology. Being in Rochester, NY for our undergraduate years, we have gotten a feeling for everything this place had to offer, thus decided to pursue jobs in the field outside of Rochester. Within a few months of our final year, we parted to different parts of the US. 

Changbai --> Sanfrancisco

Danny      --> Boston

However, due to the nature of our college years and being two fairly typical RIT students, it can be said that we’re two children who have a subclass of “nerd” with properties “slightly social”, “gaming-addicts”, “nocturnal”, and “slightly stereotypical-asian” (race revealed). Thus, we have a tendency to be lazy bastards sitting on our laptops browsing reddit and playing league rather than exploring our new areas. 

So, in the spirit of competition and curiosity on how we’re performing as real life, responsible adults, we decided to blog our exploration and adventures as motivation to get off our asses. There was some hesitation during the inception of this idea, but this is probably the best for our own growth so we figured, “JUST DO ITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
