are you a psychology or a psychiatrist student? if psychiatrist, i have a question, how much do you share? like i know psychiatrist is not a therapist but i’m unsure of how much or how little to say ?

I'm a psychiatry student (I'm halfway through residency, therefore I am not considered an actual psychiatrist in every situation)

I do therapy sessions, but it's considered medical consultation not counselling. Same goes for most psychiatrists.

The idea is that what happens or what is said during a consultation stays in the consultation room. Therefore you should share as much as you can with your psychiatrist because it will help you both.

(PLEASE TELL YOUR PSYCHIATRIST ABOUT ALLERGIES WHEN THEY DECIDE THE TREATMENT PLAN. )

Also if your psychiatrist makes you uncomfortable or unsafe it's ok to switch.

the diagnosis for osdd-1b has to have repeated trauma between the ages of 4-9. therefor the system would have to form anytime around then. alters may not show themselves until later years, when the system is safer from said abuse. alters may also show themselves immediately, as osdd-1b and all dissociative identity type disorders are coping mechanisms

At 16 hormones still have a big impact on mental health and development, so nobody will diagnose a 16 years old with multiple personality disorder . In worst case scenario, there will be a temporary diagnosis, or said minor would be put under observation (regular therapy sessions, light medication or preferably no medication).

This usually happens because nobody wants to misdiagnose a patient.

I, however, work with adults, so maybe the methodology has changed, I'll have to ask.

Okay so sometimes I "baby talk" a bit only with my fiance with certain words when I'm age regressing. But like. I don't TYPE it out unless I'm being ironically funny 😂 it's just so unnecessary. You don't need to purposefully type things wrong to get the point across that you're age regressing. Age regressing isn't even fun. It's due to trauma that most people age regress.

Although I'm an anti kin blog, I'm posting this in the otherkin tags because this is not ok

Self harm and a list of mental illness... next to edgy, dark, emo ... it's terrible and I really don't have to explain why...

Also if you're otherkin PLEASE don't self diagnose, please see a specialist if you think you may have mental health problems, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE SELF HARMING TENDENCIES

Posts like this, that treat self harm and mental illnesses like something edgy and emo, shouldn't appear in a community that mainly consists of more or less stable people who are trying to cope with some form of stress
