An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
tomorrow is another day.
another day with loud silence and without hushed giggles, another day without playful arguments and teasing, another day without warm lights and high ceilings, another day without the sounds of cooking and pots clinking, another day without shared domesticity, without pillow talk, without sleepy voices wafting throught the room, without soft smiles as the smell of breakfast fills the air, the sounds of brushing the teeth together, rustling of clothes, zipping and unzipping bags, the turning of pages, the scratch of a pencil in shared silence, the soft discussion on dinner plans, laughter echoing the large apartment as gossip is shared, the low hum of the TV, sharing a bag of chips, clinking mugs every morning, sunlight shining and warming the room, the cold tiles of the floor, the thick cup with toothbrushes, the shared closet, shoes strewn near the door, the kitchen sink that never worked right, the little doodles found here and there, grocery lists and sticky notes stuck on the fridge, polaroids strung across one bed, streching to the other on the opposite wall, the warm comfort of being in the presence of someone he's never been without.
another day without him.
tomorrow is another day, and he can not stop it from coming.
empty rooms filled with empty thoughts, the sound of footsteps echoing the space, warm lights soothing sore eyes, the sound of fabric shifting under the weight of a pair, the smell of freshly washed sheets and body wash, warmth beneath blankets in a cold bed, listening to the heartbeat of one's beloved, synchronised breath blending into one, a night so still you hear every hitch of the curtains, every subtle shift in position, every small sigh of content, curling into a sanctuary surrounded by silent joy, staring at their face as memories replay in your head, the ice cream they dropped and the one you offered to share, the bout of shared laughter and giggles at watching two cats wrestle, walking hand in hand as wind blows past, trying to conserve warmth into the intertwined fingers as time stalks by.
lyrics??
i'm in a reckless fever,
and you're mine, not hers.
sure, it's a little shady,
we can meet near the suburbs.
under the warm street light,
together undisturbed.
you're mine, don't forget that.
yeah, you're mine—not hers.
oh i'd wondered for a while,
if you'd leave me since i wasn't what you deserved.
maybe it was stupid to assume?
but you've clearly shown otherwise,
so why should i be one to presume?
—distant constellations
there was once a child of the moon, and another a son of the sky,
both were rather similar, the rules to them did not apply,
one was bitter and resentful, for what the world had done.
the other blissfully blind to the wretches of the sky and sun.
they danced around like water and flames, both in the dark and light,
while one had set the other under their gaze, the other embraced the night.
the moon carved their path in silence, willing all away, while the sky child bled in daylight, at the price of being a display,
reaching out to the moon, the child asked for their hand,
the other in repulsion fled the barren land,
the sky had waited patiently, blind to their own faults,
while the moon simmered in its hatred, digging craters in their own heart.
and so, the sky steals glimpses of the other every night, while the moon stays distant, unsaid words that linger till daylight.
the son of the sky still dreams, hoping for the light, yet the other sits in silence, carrying on with all their might.
