But one thing he likes for sure about it is the idea it gave him to start his own company. A couple of years ago he was working as a controller for a management and investment company that managed up to 20 different international entities in several kinds of industries. And his plate was full. ?I was responsible for starting and managing several service vendors in information technology, communications, marketing, Web development, accounting and business development,? Goetsch says. His time became so consumed dealing with these vendors that he had to hire someone to manage them. ?I wanted to find another company to manage it for me, but I couldn?t find one,? he says. Then he started thinking ? wondering how small businesses manage vendors and still have time for their core business functions, and how they manage to stay competitive with the big corporations and franchises. ?I saw that small businesses needed a one-stop service provider that would manage and deliver all of their solutions and keep them focused on what they do best,? he says. And The Small Business Mart was born. He started it last June and moved to Pearl Street in Boulder in November. It offers accounting, bookkeeping, business development, Web development, graphic design, marketing, communications and information technology services by appointment throughout Boulder and the Denver metro area. The Mart is offering its services nationwide on the Internet, but for now nearly all of his clients are local. Prices for Web-site design start at $299. A business startup plan includes business incorporation, a logo, business cards, Web design, Web hosting, Web management, a domain name and Web marketing and starts at $3,499. His most popular services so far are Web design, business logo and card design and QuickBooks setup and bookkeeping. He expects that will change as time goes on because the company is working on ?several strategic partnerships and marketing campaigns? to increase sales of the company?s other services. The Small Business Mart is working on a proposal to offer a number of services through a major small business retailer and through numerous financial institutions. Goetsch says the company is optimizing its Web site for search engines to promote all its services, and he adds that ad campaigns for both print and radio are on the front burner.But he believes the Web, design and accounting services will always be in high demand.Rod Murillo, managing partner with golfregistrations.com, a Boulder company that sells software to run golf tournaments, is one the Mart?s customers.
