Last of the "before" photos... In two weeks, barring surprises, this house will be down to interior design details. It's been a long road and I can't believe we're nearly there. 11" of cob around the top, lime plaster to keep it safe, what ever it's going on with the solarium and maybe some paint and fascia. An experienced crew of 7 plus 2 of us and 7 days... Bright side, actual cob house 100% intact, no roof leaks either. Down side, snow damage resulting in catastrophic storage tent collapses. Bright side the second, nothing in the kitchen tent was actually damaged. Down side unknown how much material loss we'll have from the lumber tent as the snow/water weight is too heavy to move right now and we've not got a great place to store remaining pieces, yet. My Rocket Mass Heater is getting a decent start today. I built the cob foundation a few days ago and I’ve been waiting for it to be solid enough to start building. I got the layout handled this morning and then I started doing the “cob dance” 😂😂 I just got the first run of blocks cobbed in and I’m waiting for my wonderful husband to get back with a few more supplies so that I can do some more building. 😊 Literally one of my absolute favorite things to do. I will say that the cob mixing is labor intensive to say the least, lol but I soooo love getting to try new building methods every chance I get. We built this by hand out of dirt and discarded "trash", and you can too! (You can even rent this via Airbnb!)
