Starting off with background information. If you already know who Mitsi, Silly Steven, and Shepherd are then you can skip.
Depending on how deep you are in the fandom, you may or may not have heard of the characters I'm talking about here. In the newsletter for December, we got a teaser image the bad a ton of Newgrounds thumbnails from around 2006, but a few of these thumbnails weren't for real Newgrounds animations.
You might've heard of this already, again that depends on how deep you are in the fandom. In the ava community, it's become common knowledge. However, outside of that you might not know. Still putting it all here in case you need to be caught up just to make things fair.
Anyways, of the thumbnails that are unique to the teaser image, there are a few key characters of interest.
Silly Steven
Shepherd
Mitsi
Starting off with Silly Steven here. The reason Silly Steven is so important is because we've actually seen him outside of the thumbnail. The town that the color gang visit in Animator vs Animation 10 is populated by sticks drawn in the same style, and one of the sticks there is Silly Steven himself.
Next is Shepard. Shepard is drawn the same way as the sticks from the background of the last teaser image. This matches up with the sheep in that picture, so we'll probably see more of him.
Finally we are getting to my personal favorite, Mitsi! Everyone who follows me and has been active within the last few days probably knows she's my favorite, but I digress! Her thumbnail description says she was a dancing animation test and that she's drawn in the same style as the farmer sticks including Shepard. Her hair ponytail, her dress, and the shape of her arms match up with the silhouette of the mystery plushie that drops with episode 14. It has also been confirmed that the plushie will be of a new character. Because of this, it is very likely that the new plushie is of Mitsi.
The fun begins. (Speculation about the characters and the implications of everything)
The appearance of Silly Steven confirms that there are stick figures in the outernet that are from newgrounds. Silly Steven and the others of his town are probably from the same animation, given their art style. Knowing that Dark and Chosen attacked Newgrounds, it's likely that these sticks fled as a result of that and ended up there.
As for the Shepard, we know that they'll be at least somewhat important given the image last teaser. Another thing about being the same art style as Mitsi means they were likely animated by the same person. Many have speculated since last month that victim became a farmer after the events of the first Animator vs Animation, and with the reveal that the farm is on Newgrounds, it seems likely that Newgrounds is where victim first ended up after episode 1. This makes since because the video was first published there. This answers the question of how victim is alive, though leaves a lot unexplained. Given that the next video is supposed to be backstory, it wouldn't make sense to include Newgrounds if it wasn't important and this idea fills in a lot of things.
Mitsi. We're talking about Mitsi now. Others have speculated that she'll die and become a motivator for victim, but I find find that very unlikely and not just because I like her. Selling a plush of a character is a gamble and if you aren't certain that people will buy, then you're more likely to loose more money than you gain. Selling a plush of a character without an established fan base is therefore significantly riskier. If she were to die purely for backstory in the same episode she was introduced, not enough people would get attached enough to make it worth selling a plush of her. To be a plush, she has to have personal appeal outside of her connection to victim. This also goes against the idea that she'll only be a love interest to victim. It's not impossible that they'll be together, but if she didn't have enough of a personality outside of him then it would make no sense to sell her separately.
What exactly is her relationship to victim? I've already ruled out an option as being unlikely, and I've explained why it's unlikely that she'll be only a love interest to him, but that doesn't answer the question. One important thing that implies that there is a connection at all is her hair. It's the exact same color as him, the hex code for both being 505050. I doubt that this is an accident. That still doesn't answer what their relationship is and there are still many theories as information is in short supply until Saturday on December 14th. I've already mentioned the speculation of her being a love interest, but there's also been some talk of a more familial role or a friendship. These claims can't be proven or disproven at the moment. We also have no information on her from the present day, only one thumbnail based in 2006. This means we have no way of knowing yet how she was affected by the attack.
This doesn't mean we can't speculate. It's possible that while speaking with victim, he told her about his animator and she wanted to help him get revenge. Maybe she originally only listened to his talk of what happened. Being a friend he could trust and confide in. However, if the attack reignited his anger at the Animator for creating the sticks that destroyed his home, it's possible that Mitsi would also want revenge against him for creating those two because Newgrounds was also her home. Perhaps they teamed up to try and make the Animator pay and she works with victim at Rocket Corp where we haven't yet seen her. She could be a co-founder and maybe they have a partners in crime relationship. It's possible she's even been encouraging him not to give up on vengeance (actively making him worse. We love a morally questionable women <3)
Perhaps they started off as partners in crime before Mitsi decided that they were going too far and left. Especially likely if victim reminds her too much if the sticks that attacked. It's not his fault they look similar, but still. Whatever the reason, she could end up showing later as an ally to the color gang. This is another idea that's already circulated in the community.
Personally, I feel like her working alongside victim is a more interesting idea. Going off of vibes, she looks like someone who could act innocent and sweet to gain someone's trust while planning to use that trust to her advantage. In the community discord, someone else used the phrase "a wolf in sheep's clothing" to describe her, which I find very fitting. This admittedly does not have much evidence to back it up, but it's an interesting direction to speculate on. If she is working at Rocket Corp, is it purely for aligned goals or could she have a plan to seize power? I doubt she'll be a secret big bad since I don't feel like that would fit with the themes as well, but for personal reasons I would not be too upset at that decision.
Now that that's all out of the way, what might Rocket Corp's relationship with the town from earlier be? The civilians had a peculiar reaction to being shown the logo. It's not like they could know why the color gang was looking for it, but they refused to talk. We know a Rocket Corp truck passed through it, and the reaction wouldn't make sense if they knew what it was but we're neutral on it. A few have suggested that they didn't like the color gang for being a different stick type, a few have suggested that maybe it's loyalty to Rocket Corp and not trusting the sticks' intentions with it. I've seen the idea at least once before that it was a fear of Rocket Corp that kept them quite. With the new information they they are from Newgrounds and that victim is too, that adds another layer to it. Are they grateful to victim for helping them rebuild in the outernet, or afraid because victim is a hollowhead like Chosen and Dark are?
