Elsey dropped her arms, allowing her to move again as he crowded up against her and the wall. His lips felt as desperate as he did. It’d been too long this time. Too long without feeling her near him. Too long of the back-and-forth banter. He didn’t care though, because now he had her in his arms. He didn’t want to let her go. He didn’t think he could, this time. Hearing those three words from her lips, Elsey’s heart lept in his throat. He loved her, he knew he had for as long as he could remember. He knew she loved him, too. But she’d never said it. She’d never plainly said it to him. Fuck, what was she doing to him? Picking the girl up, he wrapped her legs around his waist and kept her back pressed against the wall. He needed her there, because he was terrified if he let her go, that she’d leave. She’d run off and leave him there, cold and alone. His lips fell from her’s, as he held her there. With one arm around her waist, the other hand explored the body he knew so well until his fingertips curled hair behind her ear and he laughed softly, happily. “I love y'too.” Elsey told her, a smile on his face. It was about damn time. Not giving her a chance to really speak or move, he leaned in and pressed his lips to her neck. Elsey kissed softly, slowly, along her throat to her shoulder. He felt like he was alive. Moving his lips back to Shadow’s, he gently nipped on her lower lip. Laughter shook his body, however, as he laid his forehead to rest against her chest, both arms holding her around the waist now. “Yer trying to kill me, you are. I can’t bloody get enough of you, Shadow.”
Shadow ran her fingers over the back of her neck, She had missed him more than she had admitted to, even to herself, but being with him made her happy. She laughed when he lifted her up and wrapped her arms around his neck. If it were anyone else, she would have slapped him; she hated feeling manhandled, but when it came to Elsey, she would let him do anything he wanted.
She tiled her head back at the feel of his lips on her neck, a low moan escaping her glossed tiers. He always had known exactly how to get her weak spot; then again, HE was her weak spot. The sound of him telling her he loved her too caused feelings to stir inside her that she hadn’t felt before. Shadow wasn’t the type to say she loved anyone. She didn’t tell her parents, her sister, her brother-in-law. The only person she had ever actually told she loved was her nephew, and that was different. He was two and the light of her life.
But, when Elsey told her, it made her feel warm and safe, like she had finally found where she belonged. They were so on-and-off, but she never really gave her heart to anyone else; she had never realized before that being with him after so long was like coming home after a vacation. Familiar, comforting, safe.
“If I were trying to kill you, I’d have done it already.” She teased, tilting her head down and kissing him. “I still want you around, though.”
“I really should have packed a warmer blanket. Even sitting right next to the fireplace, I’m still freezing. Who thought putting the Slytherin common room in the dungeon, under the lake, was a good idea? I want to slap them.”
