When I managed to get into finals in every debate tournament I joined, I have this one mantra I always use like an armor , “dont go back empty handed!” Whether it’s a blessing or a curse, the mantra left me in cloud 9 before winning the final because I thought, “ at least I wont go home with an empty pocket” . Leaving me with half-baked preparation in the finals and.. that sums up why i consistently qualified to the final round in my last three debate tournaments and only ended up as first runner-up for all of it hahaha. Before this, losing a debate would be a disaster to me. But since Im very near to the end of my career in debate, i dont really care about the result anymore. As long as I enjoy doing smthg that I passionate about and spend my time with those people that I view more than a family, I enjoy every single second from the tournament. For DAS, since the very beginning I told everyone that I have bad feeling for this competition. The biggest ‘backflip’ I ever did to myself was joining this debate. For one week, I had to go through the traffic jam and berulang-alik KLANG-UM EVERY.FCKING.DAY. Even during the final round, I still need to attend 5 hours of lectures in Klang, before heading back to UM to prepare our points and arguments for the final round 🤒🤒 All the sleepless nights, tiring days, traffic jam, intense training, and endless facts research make me questioned myself am I making the right decision (to join this competition 5 days before the competition starts)? Apatah lagi team baru complete one day before the tournament 😅😅😅😅 But, the joy and happiness every time I agreed to represent UM in any debate competitions was not about the competition itself, but the crunch time I spend with these people and that was the sweetest part 🙂 This DTA would not have been possible without the guidance and inspiration from all MORUM members especially the coaches, alumni, seniors and obviously my teammates (@syafie11 @nadiah_basir @fakrulrazi_aji ). And also highlights to my friends yang sanggup belikan makanan and hantar dkat ASTAR every night sampai malam final and also yang drive kereta dari Klang to UM 😅 Thank You.
