a few of the actors playing masc roles were fem-presenting (hal, hotspur, the king, mortimer)
this made for some wonderful yuri
sort of modern? hal and his acquaintances wore punk shit
everyone came out before the show and were interacting in character with each other and the audience!!!!! i have seen one other show in my life where they did this and it was pippin the musical (💞)
falstaff's sword at first was a couple drumsticks he had stuffed in his pocket
and then a baseball bat
he also gained a bike helmet for some unexplained reason after intermission
sword hilts without blades!
hotspur was really fucking talented oh my god
and falstaff......
and hal 🥹🥹🥹 the actor was wearing eyeliner and black denim cargo pants... and a blink-182 shirt.. and had these really cute braids...... i don't think i will ever be able to see him differently
hotspur's hair was SICK
it was out on the roof of a hotel nearby with a garden that they'd cross behind and say lines and do fights
clearly were making do with a small budget but it worked sooooo well. a lot of the costumes looked sewn and some headgear was knit or crocheted or something
ouh it was so funny
falstaff and co tied up the travellers with duct tape. were also wearing rubber animal masks as they did so. the ones that cover your whole head...... i think i watched hal nearly break
watched it with my dad and after the show he said he was surprised at how good it was and i had to remind him it was in fact shakespeare
