I think there was good opportunity for Kyle to destructively come to terms with his expulsion from millkweed and i'm here for it
please fucking laugh oh my god
Sometimes, his therapy sessions were⦠nice? They were nice, in weeks that had been good to him - Steven would recap those weeks with much gusto to Dr. A, who would congratulate him on his good week, and it created a sort of feedback loop of positivity.Ā
He could talk about the new songs he was learning on his guitar, about how heād gotten back into the habit of cooking proper food, about how heād borrowed some old study guides from Connie in an attempt at - something? He had a lot of good things to talk about, and so much as they didnāt attempt to do anyĀ ādeep divingā of sorts it was perfectly, totally fine that he was in therapy, that he could spend an hour talking about himself, just himself, to someone else.
- and, and it wasnāt like those ādeep divesā were always a disaster, either! When heād walk into the office in the right mindset (productive, like in the days when he was running Little Homeschool properly, efficient and full of confidence), they could sit down and talk about the past, unpack a little of what he felt about his mom, about the Diamonds, about everythingĀ that had happened to him since becoming a Gem proper (or even before), and heād leave feeling - cleaned? Raw, certainly, but with a preciseness that left him still functional.Ā
Those days Steven looked forward to a little less, but he didnāt dread them, per se.Ā
The days he dreaded werenāt as rare as he wouldāve liked, but after a few months of seeing his therapist, there were still sessions that left him - not worse off, certainly, but just painfully aware of how short one measly hour could be. Those sessions, he left red-faced (or pink-faced a few times, and heād have to sit in the Dondai for up to a half hour trying to will himself to just calm, calm down, he was fine now, he just needed to get home and he couldnāt drive like that -) and teary-eyed, and feeling like a husk, hollowed-out with all the precision of a machete into his heart.
What he did after those sessions varied, but whatever he did always had that tinge of guilt to it - and oh, he was supposed to work on that too, that feeling of shame he had over feeling less than stellar! But sometimes heād drive over to the beach furthest from the Temple and would sit, staring out at the waves diving in and out of the sand, for hours; sometimes heād go up to the hillside near where he had trained with Jasper and would just scream.Ā
Most times, though, he would just find himself at home, would slug himself up the stairs, close the blinds, and just - lay there. Would not do anything, just listening to the rushing of blood in his ears and the sounds of silence around him.Ā
He talked to Dr. A about that, expecting (hoping?) for a full reprimanding, but instead she had shrugged at him.Ā āMany people find what youāre going through in these sessions to be heavy work, Steven,ā she had said softly,Ā āand heavy work requires its own set of recovery. While you should be careful about isolating yourself too much, itās okay to take a breather, too.āĀ
She had pulled out some worksheets for him then, too, given him some tips on how to handle his coming down whatever it was (trauma) that had him so worked up in the first place. And he had shrugged at her, glanced them over and shoved them into his bag, murmuring with embarrassmentĀ that he would consider it.Ā
ā¦and yet, after that session itself had gone south, and he found himself up in his room, the words from the sheet came back to him - contact with others, it had recommended.
He knew that Connieās study break wasnāt for another 43 minutes, but he found himself calling her anyways - and oh, he had to swallow down the guilt that came with that, of course - and as it connected, as the glow from the screen lit up his face in the darkened room, as he muttered out a hoarse greeting to her concerned faceā¦Ā
⦠maybe, he thought, he couldĀ do this.Ā
Another step.Ā
ā
One thing I loved about The Future was that the central conflict was very quaint. Steven canāt figure out why the gems arenāt upset heās leaving. Itās like a season one ep, small scale nā cute. However, I think they might have done this on purpose to highlight how much steven has grown throughout the series.
Rebecca has said that stevenās biggest vice is that heās self-sacrificial. Heās deathly afraid of being a bad person, so heāll often do whatever the noble/virtuous thing to do is, rather than what is true to himself - and that hurts him. She points out that The Test was one of the first times we see this in action. He lies, puts aside how he feels, just to make the gems feel better. At first it seems like maturity, but we learn over the course of the series that this attitude was actually very damaging to his self-worth. This culminates in episodes like Everythingās fine. Pushing aside his feelings about white diamondĀ āfor the greater goodā caused him to lash out uncontrollably. And heās so afraid of being a bad person that he lies to everyone about it.
In The Future, we see him start to do this again. Heās hurt that the gems arenāt sad that heās leaving, but he doesnāt tell them. The noble thing to do would be to not be petty, it was his decision to leave after all. But the moment he turns that car around is the peak of stevenās character development. He finally decides that his feelings are valid, and expressing them doesnāt make him a bad person. He drives straight back to tell the gems how he truly feels. I was in tears yāall.
If chapter 2 doesnāt open with this happening Iām gonna cry.Ā
OK SO HEREāS THE TEA.
I seen y'all debating over whether or not jevil is the tiny chunky lad that he is so im hereby standing my ground with STEAMING FACTS.
Using the generally accepted height calculation method in deltarune which is 1 pixel in-game = 2 inches irl, simply counting the pixels of jevilās battle sprite from the bottoms of his shoes (not the tips cause theyāre at an angle) to where his actual face ends (hat not included) gives us 31 pixels. multiply that by two and you get the amount of inches.
Jevil, the man, the myth, the absolute madlad, is 62 inches tall, or just about 157 cm/5 foot. thank u for coming to my ted talk
The Deltarune Legend is False!
Itās not two lightners and one darkner:
Itās two monsters and one human:
(Two good of heart; one corrupted).
Just like in Undertale where the Pacifist Route told a tale friendship and hope, of Asriel and Chara.
And the Genocide route told an alternate tale of manipulation and murder.
Here, post our forced Pacifist route in Deltarune, we are about to enter a forced Genocide-like route in Chapter Two, and the story will change.
Name of the game: never trust a Fox when he starts feeding you a seemingly two demensional story.
Late Night Deltarune Theory [WARNING: SPOILERS]
(Note: This is also being written very late and may not be entirely fleshed out. There may also be contradictions to this theory. No matter, Iām always open for discussion in the comments!)
Alright, so, itās late at night and Iāve been thinking about Deltarune and the meaning of certain elements and features in it (as any normal person would do), and it got me thinking about the possibility of whatās to come with Chapter 2.Ā
First things first, Iām sure one of the most noticeable things at the start of the game is the design and appearance of the playerās vessel, Kris.Ā
Right off the bat Iām sure some of you have noticed that Kris looks an awful lot like Chara, who you meet after the genocide route of Undertale.Ā
The biggest (and main) appearance similarity being Charaās signature green-and-yellow striped sweater. Now, Iām going to ask you to keep this in mind as we move on (weāre going to come back to this later) to another VERY similar (much more so, in my opinion, which may hint that Kris as a person overall and not as a vessel is more morally aligned to pacifism) appearance that is shared between Kris and another character.
Frisk.
The blank expression and overall appearance (skin tone and hair color especially) is very similar to that of Friskās. But thatās not quite the cake. Take a look at how Krisā design changes once they and Suzie fall into the Dark World:
Theyāve gone from wearing Charaās colors to Friskās, as seen in the cape they wear over their armor when in the Dark World.Ā
Now, whatās one of the most widely stated things about Frisk in Undertale? That they are the embodiment of pacifism, even if they are able to commit genocide (most people choose to blame Chara, the embodiment of genocide, for Friskās actions during that route in regards of a storyline sense, and not the actual playerās actions, which are typically based off of curiosity).Ā
That being said, whatās the one thing you canāt do in the Dark World?Ā
A Genocide Run. Now wearing the colors of Frisk, theĀ āembodiment of pacifism,ā Kris takes to the Dark World in a forced Pacifist Run. Even while Suzie can attack and knock out enemies, she never actually kills them, and even then Kris and Ralsei can warn opponents that Suzie plans to attack in order to keep an entirely pacifist run in the works. Proof of this can be found here. (Also kind of has a theory within it, but it isnāt added onto.)
Now, you do eventually return to the Light World, the Normal World, and once again youāre back in the colors of Chara (where we left off earlier in this theory).
After exploring the city and going home (you are still unable to hurt people at this point in time) however, you finally reach the last scene of chapter one, where you end the dayās journey. This is also where you are greeted with a lovely surprise, and the possible end of this pacifist run.Ā
[FINAL WARNING: SPOILERS]
Kris (or presumably Chara, who has possibly stolen your vessel) has ripped out your soul and tossed it into the rusted cage, and has now revealed a knife and a murderous smileāone that shows nothing but the most wicked of intents.Ā
This leads me to the theory that this post is about, and given the reasons Iāve stated above I think I have good reason to believe what I do about whatās going to happen next.Ā
Essentially, you may want to prepare yourselves, Genocide Junkies. The forced pacifist run is over.Ā
Get ready for a forced genocide. Why?
Because as stated in the game on multiple occasions, you donāt have a choice. The playerās actions do not matter. Not just when it comes to who your vessel is, but also in regards of what is to happen during your time following Krisā journey. Youāve lost the control you had in the first game, and I think Chapter 2 is going to really demonstrate this.
yaāll: but the gaster reveal???
gaster:
ok so theories like this oneĀ definitely make a lot of sense, but the one thing that i was still confused about was this:
the fact that the birdcage is rusty and hasĀ āseen quite a few crashesā plus the fact that itās the only thing in krisās room clearly indicates that itās there for a specific purpose, and that theyāve used it for that purpose several times.
I was confused about this in relation to theĀ ākris was ripping us out and seizing controlā theories because we only started controlling them the morning before the end of the game.Ā it wouldnt make sense for them to have used the birdcage a bunch of times before if the events of the game were the first time they had ever been possessed.
so i was thinking, what if we arenāt the only ones controlling them?Ā what if this was something that had happened periodically through krisās life, and weāre just the most recent on a long list of possessors?
iām not quite sure exactly how that would work, or what the in-universe explanation for that would be, but i feel like it would make a lot of sense
it would explain the ending.Ā if being possessed and having their body taken control of by an exterior force was something that kris had experienced many times before, they would be prepared for it and know what to do.Ā when they take out the knife and look directly at us, theyāre intending to go to the birdcage and stab the soul, permanentlyĀ getting rid of us so that they can regain their agency.Ā the bloodstain next to the birdcage is from the other times theyāve done this.
i really really donāt think kris is evil.Ā itās a really interesting dynamic to have the main character of a game despise the person whoās playing the game, but if you think about it, they arenāt doing anything wrong.Ā theyāre just trying to stay in control of their own body.Ā at the end, when they hold the knife out, theyāre threatening us.Ā they were never going to hurt anyone else.
Talking about the Delta Rune stuff because a lot of people seem confused and this is my take-

Everyone always says if Noelle went to the Dark World, sheād be either a Mage, a Ranger or maybe a Bard. But thereās something Iāve noticed.
In the very beginning of the game, Noelle specifically asks if you need to borrow a pencil again.
This implies that Noelle carries several different pencils on her person at all times, likely for the exact purpose of Kris needing to borrow one.
And in the Dark World, what do pencils turn into?
Noelle is going to have sO MANY SWORDS-
Iām sure this has been pointed out already⦠but Iām lowkey convinced Ralsei is the missing green crayon from Krisās house. So I doodled him during my stream. *headcanon belowĀ

UHM...
EXCUSE ME BUT ⦠I REALISED THE SIMILARITIES JUST YET LIKE I KNOW THAT THEY WERE VERY SIMILAR FROM THE VERY START BUT IT JUST HAPPENED NOW THAT I THINK ABOUT HOW THIS MAY BE TOTALLY INTENTIONAL (ESPECIALLY WITH DELTA RUNE BEING NEW AND STUFF) AND IāM NOT OKAY RIGHT NOW! itās all so foreboding. Iām scared
