July 21st, 2013. Viva Trotamundos!
July 21st, 2013, traveling the central jungle of Peru with my Peruvian friends from the university’s traveling student club called Trotamundos! Needless to say we had a blast. And at the same time. The waterfall was cold!
July 20th, 2013. Traveling with Trotamundos to la selva central by bus.
July 13th 2013. Window shopping at the tourism market in Aguas Calientes. To raise sales all tourists have to walk through here in order to enter and exit the train station which is the only public transport out of the town.
July 13th, 2013. Taking pictures of the tourist hub of Aguas Calientes.
July 13th, 2013. Machu Picchu! (and llamas!) By the way, the sweater that I’m wearing in the picture above is a gift from my friend Mauricio in Lima. Thanks again Mauricio!
July 12th, 2013 - part 3: Arrival at Aguas Calientes.
July 12th, 2013. Part 2 - the train ride to Aguas Calientes.
July 12th, 2013. Part 1 - The bus ride: Take a small bus from city of Cuzco to a train station at the town of Ollantaytambo where I will then get on a train to arrive at the tourist hub of Aguas Calientes at the base of the mountain leading to Machu Picchu.
July 11th, 2013. The ruins of Sacsayhuaman are huge!
July 11th, 2013. Cuzco! :) And yes, when I travel by myself there is no one to say “Shane, stop taking pictures!”
July 11th, 2013. Cuzco is just stunning.
July 11th, 2013. More pictures of Cuzco!
July 10th, 2013. I travel solo to the city of Cuzco (Cusco en español) arriving by plane. Honestly, I was more amazed by the city layout of Cuzco over the mountains than I was looking at the ruins of Machu Picchu. I simply could not stop taking pictures of this beautiful city. p.s. walking around up the city of Cuzco is entirely an uphill gravity fighting endeavor.
June 2nd, 2013. Last day of Class Archaeological Trip. top photo is at the city of Ica and the bottom photo is at the ruins of Tambo Colorado. I’ve done enough archaeology site visits the past few months that will last me a life time.
June 1st, 2013. Class Archaeological trip continued. Here, we visited the “Lines of Nazca” but to be honest I wasn’t all that impressed. Still, the souvenir rocks with painted figures of Nazca were pretty neat. What impressed me most were the large sand dunes at Huacachina in Ica, Peru where we stayed the night at a youth hostel. Although I did come to Huacachina before by myself for sandboarding, during that time I didn’t bring my camcorder because I was afraid of theft since I was alone.
May 31, 2015. Class Archaeological trip. Some of the ruins we visited required us to walk a good ways. Needless to say, everyone received a fair amount of exercise on this trip. I particularly enjoyed hanging out overlooking the cliff. The rock formations and the Pacific ocean were amazing.
