Who Made That Poster?

For years, I kept seeing the same curious poster on the walls of homes featured in stylish interior magazines: two graphic eyes on a plain white background, with some small text at the bottom that was always too small to decipher. It wasn’t until I finally saw the poster in a home featured on DesignSponge that I finally learned the image’s origins.

The eyes are a logo designed by the Swedish graphic designer Olle Eksell (1918-2007) for Mazetti, a Swedish chocolate manufacturer. The “Cacao Eye” design was one of his most famous works. For a more comprehensive collection of Eksell’s other pieces, check out a bilingual edition of a book on him that will be published in April.
