Black At It’s Best
I am me
Dark skin, bold grin, standing at six foot three
I’m the D. O. P. E. to the beat
Determined, Optimistic, Perseverance, Excellence
Yeah that’s me
Black and weird as ever
But this is who God intended me to be
Art is my escape, who i am, my passion
It dilutes the hate, brings out the vision, and mutes all the bad shit
I was once told I should act blacker
I can’t act what’s within me, it’s been me, it’s already mastered
Generations of black ancestry flows through my veins
It gives me pride, knowledge, understanding of my ancestors pain
It’s important that we embrace all shades and colors of our community
It shows our greatness, our awareness, and our love filled with unity
Young black girl with the nappy beautiful curls, we see you
Embrace your hair, it’s the one thing you will always wear, that is a part of the real you
Young black boy, man life has been hard on you
Grow up to treat every woman like a queen, like you were born to do
I could say more, I could say less
But at the end of the day, this is BLACK AT IT’S BEST.....
