How I feel when I think about the dragon prince
i am definitely obsessed with this show a normal amount
my thoughts on the x reader age gap content
DISCLAIMER: this is MY PERSONAL OPINION, this is not meant to attack anyone who reads or writes x reader age gap content. read what you want, write what you want, this is just what I think about that type of content.
i am not ashamed to admit that i like to read x reader (whether it's fem, masc, or gn depends on my own gender at a given moment) and a lot of times, i'll stumble upon some age gap ficlets/fics(?). sometimes the age gap is only like 5 years or something, but a lot of times it'll be 15+ years where the reader is 18-20 and the character is in their 40s.
...yeah, it doesn't sit right with me at all. my personal belief on age gap relationships IRL are as follows:
high school (14-18): aim not to date anyone more than 1.5 years older. a bit of that is so you have time to gain experience on your own, and also because if you're a freshman and some senior is trying to hit on you, that's not a great sign and it could get that senior in some pretty serious legal trouble if they're 18 and have nudes or dirty messages with a 14 year old (or anyone underage)
college age (18-24): stick to people no more than 2 or 3 years older, so you still have time to learn how to adult without some weirdo using your barely-of-age status as a chance to pull some weird shit
25 and older: at this point, your brain is fully developed and you're an adult capable of making decisions, so do what you want but make sure you communicate what you want, and, if it's a relationship with a relatively significant age gap (i'd say maybe 8+ years), be sure to consider what you both want and what you're okay with.
for me, i think a lot of those values are projected into what i feel when i read something with any kind of age gap. and then there's taking into account a bit of realism, because there's no universe where a 48 year old man dating an 18 year old isn't problematic 💀. i'm well aware that realism isn't that important when making any sort of fanfiction, but i always find it weird when these super unrealistic age gaps pop up.
also, in a lot of those the reader is portrayed as some fragile little angel who's never even heard of sex or anything like that??? frankly that's just dumb, because the chances that there's an 18 year old, fresh out of HIGH SCHOOL who has no idea what sex is are so ridiculously minute that it's pretty much impossible. they might be a little reckless about sex, but they will know what it is.
so basically, the reader is being infantilized, which grosses me out a lot. if it's a kink or something, i don't care as long as there's implication of a prior discussion and kink negotiation in which both people consented to it and established a safe word, but even then i still wouldn't read it because that just feels like projecting pedophilia.
at the end of the day, it is just fiction and it has no real effect on my life, and it's not difficult at all for me to just scroll and find something else that's more suited to my tastes. again, these are just MY thoughts and opinions, no hate to anyone who enjoys reading/writing this type of content.

Do you have tips to get the best ai fanfiction prompt. I want to start writing fanfiction but I don’t know what to prompt
if you want to start writing then my advice is to actually write it yourself instead of letting a machine do it for you. “ai prompting” is not writing.
write what you want to read, but the most important part is that it’s you who do the writing
it appalls me that these people who use ai to "write" have the audacity to call themselves "writers" when we all know they haven't written a damn thing.
i have spent hours, days, weeks, months, years on my characters and stories, and it reflects in my writing because i've learned and i've improved and i've done the fucking work. and my writing may be bad, my OCs may be cringe, my stories may be ridiculous, but at least i've put actual effort into crafting these characters and their stories without the use of some shitty slop machine.
to the people who partake in ai "writing" or "art", shut the fuck up about being a "writer" or an "artist" when all you do is put in some shitty prompt and get something shitty in return. you're lazy and ignorant, and i honestly pity you for being so blind. you can have the title of artist or writer when you earn it, but you don't earn it with soulless slop.

Other: as mentioned in personality, he does have ASPD but takes medication and sees a government-mandated therapist who has helped him quite a lot. The reason why the therapist is government mandated is because, when he was 11, he killed 4 boys who bullied him, 2 after they beat him and tried to rape him, and the other 2 as they tried to run away (they thought that what the first 2 did was too much but that didn’t stop Tanjiro). After being arrested, it came out that his parents were immensely abusive and he was removed from their care. He was properly diagnosed and sentenced to a psych ward for 6 months, then placed under the care of his aunt and uncle, who lived in Karakura, after his brother refused custody. The main cause behind his ASPD was genetics, since his mother had it as well (much more severely), and the abuse he suffered. It’s not as bad or as present when the main story takes place, but there are times when it’s very apparent.

Other: pretty well established by now that Daisuke’s relationship with his parents is shit. his mother, Lily, joined the army at 19 and got stationed at Camp Zama, and that’s where she met Ren. she had already dabbled in drugs in the States a bit, but she got addicted after dating and eventually marrying Ren (marriage happens when she’s 21 and he’s 23). after about three years of marriage, they decided to try for a baby and sobered up, and Daisuke was born. things were fine for the most part, but postpartum depression hit Lilly HARD and she went back to drugs to alleviate the effects, with Ren not far behind (for different reasons, obviously). a lot of times, Ren and Lilly’s neighbors would take care of Daisuke when he was little because they (the parents) were either too high to do their jobs or weren’t even home. once Daisuke was old enough to take care of himself, the neighbors came around less often and Daisuke pretty much raised himself. he had a very hate-love feeling towards his parents, because he knew that somewhere in that drugged up fog they did love him, but they didn’t even remember his name half the time. the only time their relationship gat somewhat decent was when Ren and Lilly got sober again and had Seiya, but, just like the first time, they only lasted about a year before turning back to drugs. when he was 13 and Seiya was 3, their parents had gotten REALLY high and let their literal toddler play with a boxcutter. this ended VERY badly and Seiya almost died of bloodloss, and Daisuke barely got him to the hospital on time while having one of the worst panic attacks of his life. Ren and Lilly lost custody almost immediately, Lilly was dishonorably discharged for that and for a bunch of other stuff, and the boys were handed off to their aunt. She had been recently stationed at Zama as well to work as a contractor (don’t come at me if this doesn’t make sense) and moved to a house that was about 45 minutes from the base for the boys’ comfort.
