Scáthach of Isaach. Astra's Wake. "This technique stands above all others in Isaach—handed down by the Sword Saint Od!"

Scáthach is a fresh faced Black Eagles student who's made his first appearances in Fodlan. Feeling lost after the liberation of his country, and those around him moving on to the lives they were meant to have, he finds himself here honing his blade.

He appears very stoic and closed off from a distance, but he is still a simple country boy. Being raised to fight a war definitely left it's mark, and it leaves him unable to express himself very well. You'll find that he can easily be swayed into doing just about anything, especially if pestered.

The sun has said goodbye, and now it is the moon whose glow illuminates the festival. On top of that, the comet of blessings is visible now even more than before. All the previously closed blue stalls are now open and with the little star shaped lights lining each of them, the atmosphere has completely changed. It’s like an entirely new Star Festival!

Nightlight Phase: Feb 19th - Feb 23rd.

Prompts:

(Stars) Atop a hill overlooking the night sky there’s a mage. For a little gold he’ll write whatever you ask of him as a message made from stars. Whether that’s a heartfelt message.. or a joke!

(Flower) A stall has been set up that sells rare flowers: ones that glow under the moonlight. A bouquet of these would already be perfect, but a beautiful flower crown made from them would look like a halo placed on a loved one’s head..

(Hubba) A girl who claims to be the granddaughter of a famous matchmaker sets up a stall for the festival! Would you and a friend like to see how compatible you two are? Or maybe you wanna know if your beloved really is your happily ever after?

(Rest) The festival will go on well past midnight. As such, there’s a tent that’s been hit with a sound proof spell so no sound will leak inside. In the tent are comfortable chairs, pillows and even beds for those looking to unwind a little.

(Candy) One stall sells little fruit flavored candies shaped much like the stars everyone’s been gathering. There’s also a challenge going on in a different bowl where one half of the candies has delicious fruity flavors and the other half… doesn’t. Do you take on the 50/50?

(Carousel) The wooden horses are now Pegasi! The platform, which at first only spun around now also rises into the air, allowing you to see the starry night sky from even closer. Takes a little more bravery, but the view is worth it!

(Lake) The stars and moon above reflect beautifully on the lake’s surface. The festival committee has provided delightful, duck-shaped two-person paddle boats for those wanting to enjoy the clear waters up close.

(Circus) A short distance away from the rest of the festival is a single, dilapidated looking circus tent. People have mentioned seeing strange lights dance around this tent, as well as hearing clown-like sobs if they get up close… Discover what’s inside.. if you dare.

(Mirrors) One stall holds a maze made of mirrors, promising a reward for those able to make it out to the other side. Be careful though, it’s quite disorienting to be seeing yourself on all sides!

(Soup) In the mood for dinner? This stall has several pots of boiling broth, as well as selections of proteins, veggies and carbs, allowing you to add whatever you like to them to make your own soup! Or to live out your witch roleplay dreams. Both are valid.

"SCATHACH!"

From the back, he could easily have been mistaken for Larcei, she thinks. Many might disagree, with regard to stature, clothing, etc, but to Fee, the twins were always meant to look like that together. At least, far more than she and Cedsy; but that's a given due to the age difference, she thinks. Regardless, bright eyes look up at the sword fighter teasingly.

"Figures I'd find you here eventually, what with Larcei about," she jokes, bumping him lightly, shoulder to shoulder. "Good thing you guys look so similar: I've got an easy radar for dark-haired Jugdral stompers!"

Not that Scáthach was keeping score or anything, but if he had received a gold coin for every time someone called out to him as he passed, his coin purse would have been noticeably heavier. Eccentric strangers sought his help, while overeager stall owners angled for his attention and his money alike. The constant interruptions wore thin, and before long he found himself drowning out the chorus of 'excuse me's and 'sir's as he pushed through the crowd. With no clear purpose guiding his steps, Scáthach began to consider leaving the festival behind and turning in for the night.

The notion grew more tempting by the moment, but just as he committed to it, a voice cut cleanly through the noise he had learned to ignore. It helped that it was his name being called, and the volume at which she shouted it made overlooking her impossible. Anyone within earshot now knew that the tall man with black hair was named Scáthach. He turned on his heel with a weary sigh and was met with the familiar sight of cropped green hair and bright, unguarded eyes.

He had not needed confirmation. The instant he heard her voice, he had known who would be rushing up to him. “Fee,” Scáthach greeted, a faint smile softening his expression as he took her in. They had never been particularly close, but they had endured the impossible side by side and had trusted one another with their lives. To Scáthach, that bond rivaled any he had known outside of his sister.

As if summoned by thought alone, Fee spoke her name, the first time Scáthach had heard it aloud since leaving Isaach behind. So she had settled here as well. A conflicting rush of relief and guilt tightened in his chest, dulling his smile. Knowing Larcei was nearby had always brought him comfort, yet the reason he had left home lingered stubbornly in the back of his mind. For now, he allowed himself to use her presence as an excuse for his leaving.

“You got me,” Scáthach replied, humoring her. “You know I hate to be a party crasher, but someone has to keep an eye on Larcei.” He lifted an eyebrow as he glanced down at her. “Preferably someone less inclined to encourage her rash tendencies.” He played along as she ribbed him in return, and for a brief moment, Scáthach realized how easy this felt.

“I’ll take that to mean you’ve already found Larcei, then? Are you two tearing up the festival together?”

(Clown) One of the stalls just features a single, sad looking clown. He doesn’t seem to be doing anything either. Whether you feel fear or pity.. Maybe he just wants some company?

"I feel bad for him." Eirika presses her hand over her heart and looks to the person who has stopped nearby. She doesn't know the young man but perhaps he feels the same. "No one should be alone at a festival such as this. Don't you think so?"

It would be a vast overstatement to say that, after one simple encounter, Scáthach had found his place among his peers. Truly, it was, but handing off the plushie to the strange gentleman who had enlisted his help had at least given him reason to move. Instead of lingering with his heels rooted to the ground and his gaze fixed anywhere but on those around him, he threaded his way through the sea of passersby, surveying the rest of the festival. He slowed only briefly at each stall, registering its purpose before continuing on.

Each offered its own appeal, whether through food or entertainment, but one display brought him to an abrupt halt and caused a brief congestion of foot traffic behind him. He stepped aside at once, retreating to the edge near the entrance of a dimly lit tent that had caught his eye. Like the others, it bore streaks of red paint, yet it lacked decorations or grand advertisements. Inside stood a truly forlorn man, his expression heavy and downturned, misery written plainly across his features. A pitiful sight. If Scáthach had once thought himself the sole outsider to the merriment, that illusion quickly dissolved.

“I feel bad for him.”

Though softly spoken, the words carried clearly through the surrounding din. He had not noticed her at first, too intent on avoiding the steady press of bodies moving past. There was an earnest sorrow in her expression, unmistakable in its sincerity. Pity was easy enough to feel, as he had upon first seeing the solitary clown, but she seemed to carry the man’s distress as though it were her own. Such empathy was rare. Across all his years, he could count on one hand the people who possessed it. He had believed himself incapable of pausing for sentiments like these, and yet he now found himself standing at her side.

“I…” Scáthach paused. “I suppose you’re right. This is meant to be a celebration of companionship, after all.” The observation rang hollow, considering his own solitude. Still, their choices were limited. Watching from afar felt unkind, yet approaching outright risked intrusion. Turning away no longer seemed appropriate.

“I don’t see anyone with you right now,” he said after a moment. “If you’re willing, perhaps we could spare him some company. It might lift his spirits.”

The throw didn't get anywhere, really. Some of the cans fell from their stage, but a majority remained — and Henry hummed, stuck on this mystery as he tapped his chin. It didn't work if you hit the bottom; it didn't work if you hit the middle; it really, really didn't work no matter what you did.

Well, or Henry just wasn't strong enough. That would make sense! He poked his own arm — yup, there was nothing really there, no sir! A glance around the stall eventually landed on a fellow student, and Henry waved to get their attention.

"Hiya! Mind lending a hand? Not literally. Unless you want to literally lend a hand, which also works!" He broke out into laughter. Then, a point toward the top of the stall, where a plush bird — a raven, but that's okay! — resided. "I've been trying to get that all day. If you could take a throw and knock everything down... I'll do anything as thanks! Name a name?" He patted his chest. "I'll kill 'em — no questions at all!"

The festivities at the monastery were in full swing once again, crowding the halls with brightly decorated stalls offering delights galore. All one had to do was weave through the sea of occupants to find their fill of wonders. It was a paradise for nearly every student; meanwhile, Scáthach lingered on the fringes of joy, absently prodding the food in his hands. Some sort of sticky sweet, purchased less out of appetite and more from a need to occupy himself, anything preferable to fingers tapping restlessly at his side. Despite his best efforts, he felt as though he were advertising his ineptitude at even the most basic of tasks: idling.

Though Scáthach was, in theory, no longer a knight, no longer waging war against the very world— the dirt he had brushed from his boots along that path remained stubbornly fresh. This transition into normalcy, into actions without purpose and days without vigilance, was difficult. It felt as though he were being asked to dismantle every piece that had once held him together and cast them to the wind. Would he remain standing without that foundation, or would he fold inward under the strain? The answer eluded him.

Still, as if testing his own resolve, he placed himself squarely amid the chaos, driven by curiosity as much as fear. There was so much he had never learned about simply being alive, so many experiences he had set aside in the fervent pursuit of a single goal. Though his heels dug stubbornly into the earth and his discomfort was plain to see, he recognized this, too, as progress. Perhaps next time he would play a game, spend his coin recklessly, or laugh alongside his peers. For now, waiting would suffice…

The greeting snapped Scáthach back into the present. The unflinching eye contact, paired with a mischievous laugh, left no room for misinterpretation. Whatever gods lingered above had clearly heard his unease and, in their infinite wisdom, decided that this eccentric man was the solution. Scáthach could have devised several profanities to that idea, but sacrilege was best reserved for later. Strange as the man appeared, he had asked for assistance- and that was something Scáthach could provide.

“No thanks necessary- please,” Scáthach insisted, carefully stressing his refusal of compensation. “I can give it a go, but I’ve never played anything like this before.”

A moment’s observation was enough to grasp the rules. It was a contest of aim and strength: take the ball, strike the cans, earn a prize. He exchanged his coin for the projectile, testing its weight in his palm. Incredibly light. Knocking them all down with something so insubstantial would be a challenge, but it had to be achievable, right?

He began with a slow roll of his shoulder, easing tension from the muscle. Then came the wind-up. Finally, the release, force flowed cleanly through his fingers and surged toward the target. The motion felt instinctive, not unlike nocking an arrow and loosing it. The cans collapsed in unison, clattering together as they fell.

The vendor stared, momentarily taken aback, before slipping into a rehearsed victory spiel. Scáthach interrupted him with a polite lift of his hand. “Excuse me. I’d like the bird on display there, if you don’t mind.”

The man hesitated, glanced at the prize, then back at Scáthach before relenting. “Many thanks.”

Turning toward the man beside him, Scáthach offered the plush without ceremony. “This is what you wanted, yes? It’s yours.”

Both the sun and the comet are shining brightly above your head, as the festival is in full swing. Many red roofed stalls have opened, each of them having something to eat, something to do… and sometimes both at once!

Daytime Phase: Feb 14th - Feb 18th

Prompts:

(Fruits) A stall is offering to dip any fruits of your choosing into hot, delicious sugar! By letting it cool it encases the fruit with a crunchy sweet shell. Would you like to create a sweet for your sweetheart? Or are you just pushing the limits of the stuff you can dip…?

(Cookies) What better way to make new friends (or affirm your existing friendships) than with cookies in the shape of your pals? This stall offers anything you might need to that end. And for the creatively challenged.. Don't worry, they say poor craftsmanship is part of the charm.

(Gachapon) A strange device sits at the festival grounds, containing little capsules with dolls inside of them. The perfect memento! For a few pieces of gold one of them can be yours- and who knows what you’ll get?

(Facepaint) Fun for kids and adults! A face painter put up a stall where you can get all kinds of intricate designs put on your face, from flowers to butterflies to dragons! And if you don’t like the selection? You can always paint something on yourself. Or ask a friend to do it!

(Merry) Powered by magic this platform spins round and round, with little wooden horses for up to two to ride on! It’s a surprisingly magical experience, experts say.

(Fight) Some warriors bond through battle, but no owies allowed! So the festival committee has prepared a battleground for you and several hollow, non-damaging weapons that make a delightful squeaky sound when you hit stuff with them!

(Stage) During the day the stage is mostly empty, but the magic sound enhancing equipment remains. Do you have the guts to shout your feelings to everyone present? Or maybe you want to do something else?

(Toss) Get all the cans to fall with just one toss of a ball and win a delightful prize! Ranging from plush toys to.. weapons? Either way, give it your best shot! (What? The stall owner, cheating? Nah… it can’t be.)

(Fried) Hey this wasn’t part of the plan! …anyway, someone put down a huge vat of oil for you to fry stuff in. They even provided some batter for dipping if you like a crispy crust! Just.. try to be reasonable, okay?

After years of grueling work and dragging himself to the peak of competition, Scáthach believed in one simple constant: push yourself until you could not go any further, and then push even further beyond that. It had served him well in his studies, in his work, and especially in his sport. Nobody on campus sweated as hard as he did, and he intended to keep it that way.

That was why, even after a particularly punishing string of classes, he was still out on the track giving it his all. His legs would surely be screaming at him tomorrow. Hell, at this rate, every moment he wasn’t moving them would hurt, too. It certainly felt that way when he came to a complete stop, finally taking the chance to catch his breath and chug an entire bottle of water. Without a doubt, he would be treating himself to a warm bath and whatever slop Larcei was watching on TV tonight.

With that comforting thought in mind, he decided he was finally done with his run. The track would still be here tomorrow, and the remaining students were already beginning to trickle off campus. He enjoyed running, but one thing he did not appreciate was an audience. Not that he was conceited enough to think people would stop to cheer him on, but… still.

Lost in his thoughts, Scáthach completely missed the fact that he had already attracted an audience of one. Had he noticed her sooner, he might have also seen her quietly following him onto the field. His obliviousness lasted right up until the moment she appeared at his side, just as her lips brushed the back of his hand.

He froze, staring down at her, blinking once as if hoping it would dispel whatever illusion stood before him. Instead, his vision only sharpened, revealing a girl in pink looking up at him.

“Wha-” Scáthach yanked his hand back at last, scrubbing it against the fabric of his shirt for good measure. “Just what are you doing?! Is this some kind of prank or something?” A dozen more questions crowded his mind, but he settled on those… for now.

“You should at least announce yourself before doing… whatever that was!”

sat on a wooden pew, praying with her eyes closed. this had become a common enough sight back in tirnanog, and now it was only natural that it become a common sight in the monastery too. so much so that the churchgoers would often comment about how 'lady edain' was here today as well.

usually, not much is able to interrupt her.

'lady edain.' she hears her name called so unnaturally after the footsteps stop so close yet so far to her. abbess opens her eyes and turns her head, her mind recognizing the voice but not the way in which it calls her. she blinks slowly, staring at him in silence for only a moment.

but of course, scáthach is one of the people who could. "honey." she speaks her affection for him in a single word as she stands up.

"you act as if it's been so long that i wouldn't recognize you." edain smiles teasingly, closing the distance between the two of them without even thinking anything of it. any worries of the heart dissipate, seeing the boy she considered like a son well and alive.

"come here." she reaches to cup his cheek with one gentle hand, pulling the boy into an embrace with the other. "i've missed you."

The woman standing before him was exactly as he remembered, right down to the curve of her smile and the crease at the corner of her eyes. It felt comforting, familiar in a way that didn’t sting like a knife to the heart. When she called out to him, a single word of endearment, it was as though they were back in Tirnanog.

For a moment, they were not estranged family reunited in an unfamiliar land. Instead, they were living once again in a cabin far too small for the group that filled it. He was a child hiding scrapes and bruises from training, and she was the first to find him. She began, as always, with ‘Honey,’ a word devoid of pity and spoken only with pure affection. No matter how hard he tried to be the easy child, she always read him with ease.

Even now, at his humble greeting, it felt as though she could see exactly what he feared. Her acceptance was instant and absolute. And though he felt undeserving, it was a kindness he could never refuse.

“It’s been two long years, after all,” Scáthach murmured, trailing off, keeping his true concerns buried deep. “What is it they say about assumptions?”

When she reached out to him in a familiar gesture, one that should have embarrassed him at his age. It instead sparked a soft smile, the first he had managed in so, so long. “I… have missed you too, Mother.”

The warnings in his mind rang out in caution: This is a charade. An obligation disguised as affection. He knew those thoughts all too well. This song and dance had played many times before. Yet there was one truth he could not deny: Edain was no liar.

When he had left all those years ago, slipping away without a farewell, it had been intentional. She had already done so much for him, for his sister… She had been his family, but she also wasn’t. He had convinced himself it was an act of love, to release her from those obligations at last. Only now did he see how wrong he had been.

“I’m…” the swordsman began, his voice stalling. “I’m sorry I left without saying goodbye.”

Though the swordsman hadn’t been inside the borders of the monastery for very long, he had already gleaned that one event was constant here: the return of loved ones, the reunion of family, and-- sometimes the return of the dead. For someone like him, who had turned tail and taken refuge in this place, the thought only fostered unease. Would those who looked his way feel relief, as was so often the case… or would they feel disappointment?

Though he had only attended classes here for scarcely a month, it seemed it was already his time to confront this hypothetical. As plain as day, bathed in the skewed temple light, stood the pious Edain among a sea of pews. He froze in place, nearly slack-jawed at the sight laid out before him. Suddenly, whatever had led him to this place at this time felt irrelevant. There was only one pressing question on his mind: 'Should I approach her?'

In an ideal world, he would call out her name, and her golden locks would shift to reveal familiar features. They would reconnect, perhaps even hug, and everything would be as it was before he left. However… the harsher flipside could be equally true: she might not be happy to see him. What kind of face would she make in that case, and would he be able to withstand it?

Being so close, yet just far enough-- this distance was almost enough to satisfy his heart. To know she was alive and well… surely that alone could be enough. Turning around now would undoubtedly be the safer option, but… perhaps he was still just a greedy boy at heart. His legs had already begun inching him toward her unconsciously, until at last he stood mere feet away.

“Lady Edain--” The words etched themselves into the air, jagged and awkward. Mother had always been natural, yet now he couldn't bring himself to utter the word. “It’s me. It’s Scáthach.”

On an ordinary day much like any other in the monastery, Scáthach found himself amidst the hustle and bustle of its marketplace. The promise of new vendors had drawn everyone into the small square, eager to see what treasures they might claim. Likewise, Scáthach felt a flicker of excitement at the prospect, coin in hand and ready to seek out a new sword.

But luck wasn’t on his side this time- at least not at the weaponsmith. With no exciting additions to the stock, disappointment tugged at him, and he turned to leave the crowded grounds in favor of quieter space. Only then, jostled by bumping shoulders and shoving passerby, did he stumble upon a rather curious vendor. The man greeted him with an eerie smile and invited him to take any one mask for free before disappearing into a small tent.

Free was free, certainly- but there was something unsettling about that salesman. Still, as Scáthach approached the table of masks, he couldn’t deny the craftsmanship. He wasn’t much of an artist, yet each mask seemed to breathe with uncanny life.

He lingered in thought, eyes drifting across the display, until they settled on a wooden mask with hollow eyeholes. His fingers caught on the rough grooves and divots etched into its surface as they ghosted over the details. The expression was somehow empty, yet brimming with grief and dread.

Something about it called to him. And before he knew it, the mask was already slotted onto his face.

At first, there was nothing, only the unfamiliar weight of it pressing against his face. But when he reached up to remove it… that was when the panic set in. The mask would not give way. Even as he tugged and yanked with growing desperation, it refused to budge. And before he could even cry out for help, the mask was already stifling his voice.

It felt like hundreds of hands were reaching out from behind the wood, clawing at his skin, gripping his features, granting him no freedom. The pain built and built until it reached a breaking point, dropping him to his knees in a silent plea for mercy.

Scáthach was helpless. For a fleeting, chilling moment, he wondered if this was how his short life would end. His eyes fluttered shut, mind drifting- seeking escape from the agony of his mortal coil.

And then… it stopped.

Yet why was he still so low to the ground if he had already risen from his knees? What in the hell was happening? Scáthach darted his gaze around the marketplace, searching for the salesman, anyone. Any witness who might listen.

When he turned his back on Isaach and took those first steps onto unknown soil, he knew there was no turning back. The unforgettable weight of guilt and uncertainty deepened with every stride forward. He was leaving behind everything he had known, everything he had fought for… Yet, he couldn’t imagine any other way.

Scáthach was not the prince of Isaach, he was hardly even the son of his mother, Ayra. He was just a nobody, raised in the depths of a forgotten village and sharpened like a blade for years. There was no place made for him in this world, unlike those he had fought beside.

Each of them had something to fight for, a memory they held close to keep them moving forward. When Scáthach thought back to those moments of life or death, the only thing that kept him standing was a promise: the duty given to him by Shannan, and his vow to see it through to the end. All his blood, sweat, and tears had been in service of protecting Lord Seliph and everyone who fought beside him.

Now he stood, promise fulfilled, with a growing hole inside him that longed for purpose. There was no guarantee he would find that here in Fódlan, but it served as a good distraction. There was more to occupy himself with than he had imagined, though he especially enjoyed how empty the training grounds were at night.

He felt the familiar heft of a sword in his hand, and the concentration of a knight that shielded him from all other thoughts. Beneath the stars that illuminated the sky, it was just him and the motions he had dedicated his life to.

It was only after several moments of practice that his thoughts turned to the technique passed down by blood. Astra… His birthright as a descendant of Od, a finisher he had relied on countless times in war. Yet whenever the motions came to mind now, they soured him with guilt.

Astra was proof of his blood, his heritage—all the things he had renounced since coming here. Yet the movements called to him in the night, begging him to find comfort in their familiar embrace.

Though he had fled his home, and though he could never be true royalty of Isaach… Astra coursed through his veins. It was as much a part of him as home itself. For the first time since arriving here, he resolved to perform the motions again.

The first strike was wobbly- not good enough. So he tried again. And again. Finally, the perfect slash cut through the air, then another, and another, each with ramping speed. Before he knew it, his years of training and preparation were showing once more.

He slowed only when his arms began to shake, when his body demanded rest. The moon towered above him, and he knew sunrise was not far away. There was no more time to lament, no more time to dwell in the comfort of familiarity.

There was always tomorrow, however.

It started simple at first: a growing discomfort even in stillness, then restless nights spent tossing in bed. But it all came to a head one night, when his vision blurred and he collapsed onto the wooden planks of his dorm. He sucked in a breath, only to find himself choking on the very air he needed to survive.

Clawing at his throat for relief, he endured until the symptoms finally subsided with the expulsion of ominous red petals from his lips. As he lay there, worn and exhausted, he knew he could no longer ignore whatever curse had afflicted him.

Mustering what strength remained in his legs, Scáthach forced himself to his feet and staggered out the door. He needed to find a medical professional before he could no longer stand. The trouble was the worsening deterioration of his vision, and the fact that it was far into the night. He would be lucky to find even a passerby at this hour.

His pace grew more ragged as vines of pain coiled around his heart, draining the energy from his limbs. Why did the infirmary have to be so impossibly far from the dorms…?

His thoughts were cut short when his balance gave way, sending him sprawling onto something not quite as unyielding as brick. Blinking up through blurred vision, he realized the answer to his needs had arrived in the form of a confused-looking stranger. Now wasn’t the time to be picky- anyone would have to do.

“To the infirmary… please…” he rasped, fighting back the urge to cough and choke with every inhale and exhale.

How was your internet nickname created? My online alias has changed a lot over the years, but my most recent is CriticalRez. How it came about is kinda weird, but I've never noticed that until writing about it now. Critical comes from Sett (Leage of Legends) passive "Grit", which I just changed to "Crit" and then "Critical". Rez is shortened down from Rezef, a Manhwa character. I do sometimes use Rezef for games and stuff like that.

How long is your roleplay experience? I honestly haven't kept very good track of this like some of you have. I started Tumblr roleplaying somewhere in the middle of 2017, so I've got about 9 years under my belt or so.

How were you introduced to roleplaying as a whole? I had a friend who was deeply into roleplay, especially OC Danganronpa servers. I used to bully them pretty heavily about the hobby, calling it all kinds of stuff. Later, they introduced me to some of their friends and we all watched the DR anime together. After that, I made my first tepid step into the DR Tumblr scene, and the rest is history.

How were you introduced to TOA? The first person to mention it to me was N way way back in 2019. He was trying to sell it to me and our dear friend Dove at the time, but neither of us bit. Later I was really lamenting how dead the Indie FE scene was becoming, and remembered this place.

What languages do you speak, learn, and/or want to learn? I am not even remotely bilingual. I used all my academic language classes to take long naps. I just speak English, but I've always wanted to learn Korean!

Do you have any pets? I've had my beloved cat since May 28, 2018! I hope to have her for many more years.

Favorite animal? Always been a big fan of Penguins.

Favorite mythical creature? The Phoenix! I've always loved this creature and how it's used in fiction to create brilliant twists.

What is your favorite time of year and why? I really enjoy the fall because it's usually the perfect temperature outside for me. It's also got a lot of holidays and birthdays that I enjoy celebrating with everyone.

What is your IRL occupation? I am currently an overworked college student.

Who did you think you were going to be when you were little? Sadly, I was too busy thinking about other stuff. I never thought much on a future as a kid, but when I was asked, I often said a Chef. No big reason behind it other than it used to make my dad very angry.

Some interests and things you like/enjoy? I really enjoy reading and collecting all kinds of books and literature. I collect vinyls and love to just tune out the world and listen to some music to ground myself. I'm sometimes a Pokemon card collector, but I mostly major in Reshiram cards.

What non-Fire Emblem games do you play? I've always enjoyed The Legend of Zelda and Final Fantasy games. I've played so many others that I've loved, but those are big standouts to me.

Favorite Pokemon type & Pokemon: I really enjoy the Grass & Dragon type personally! Reshiram is probably my favorite pokemon, but my less basic bitch answer is the Munna line.

Tell us some funfacts and trivia about yourself! Last time I did this, I spoke about how I listen to a song over and over until I can't stand it anymore. That's still very true, but I'll try for something else this go. When I was a kid, I used to steal Magic Treehouse books from my classroom. Eventually, I took so many that I had the ENTIRE series complete to that point. I call it my little klepto phase.

How did you get into Fire Emblem? My mom was a pretty avid flea market peruser back in the day, and she was always searching for fun deals. She found a massive lot of games that included NES, SNES, and Gameboy games with consoles and cords. I grew up with these things and it really shaped my love for games both old and new. Eventually, one cart I landed on was Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade. I absolutely hated it because I wasn't much of a reader back then. I put it away and didn't think a thing about it until I was being fed Fates propaganda YEARS later when I first entered the Tumblr RP scene.

What Fire Emblem games have you played? I have played through all of them at one point or another EXCEPT for Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn. No particular reason other than just being VERY lazy.

First & Favorite Fire Emblem games: My first was Binding Blade, and my favorite is still Genealogy of the Holy War.

List your 5 favorite Fire Emblem characters across the series! Scáthach, Ephraim, Alear, Clanne, Morgan

Who was the first character ever to make you go “ooh I like this one in particular” and why? Can be any context and reason! I think the first character that ringed this bell in my mind was probably Guinivere from Binding Blade. Her story arc, however small it was, really resonated in my heart for some reason. To me, she was the Fire Emblem version of Zelda, and that gave me instant attachment.

Do you have a character you used to dislike or get annoyed by, whom you like better nowadays or have grown to appreciate? Yeah! Over the years, I grew to really hate Edelgard as a character. I couldn't stand her fans or her narrative, and just seeing her big forehead made me mad. Cut to now where I would literally kill to get ahold of Tiff's Edelgard because I am so in love with her. Tiff Edelgard has not only shown me just how versatile and interesting she is, but just how interestingly she can bounce off my own characters. BIG TIFF THANK YOU!!!

Any Fire Emblem crushes? I don't really feel crushes towards fictional characters anymore. I think my interest in them comes from just how entranced I become when thinking about them. If I had to take picks though, I'd say either L'arachel or Ayra.

Who was your first TOA muse? If you no longer have them, can you see yourself picking them up again? If you still have them, could you see yourself ever dropping them? My first muse in TOA was Male!Robin, and while I love him, I will likely never touch him in TOA again. He's extremely tired, and I do not wish to disturb his vacation. Bro is sipping mimosas on the beach right now and I wish it were me instead.

Do you have or have you had a muse you once thought you would never write, and yet you do/did? I have one muse I am interested in writing but always talk myself down from. Maybe one day she'll make an appearance, but I'm very fickle about this delusion in particular.

Do you think you have a favorite TOA muse you’ve ever written? My favorite will forever and always be Ephraim. He's been the only muse over time I've never had to force and have always felt comfortable with. I love him to the ends of the earth.

Do you believe you have a type of character you gravitate towards writing? I am still absolutely drawn to the protector (knight) characters. I think I have tried to broaden out over time, but those are definitely the easy picks for me.

Do you have characters or types of characters you don’t think you can handle writing for whatever reason, but wish you could? I struggle a lot with characters who push boundaries whether it be to be a menace or to be genuinely evil. I really hope I can push past this someday, but right now it's a big obstacle.

Do you have a character you’ve been thinking about musing for a long time, but just never got to applying them for whatever reason? It's probably between Clanne and Astram, since they both have fully written out Applications. I think the timing just hasn't been right for them, or maybe I just don't feel as excited about them now as I've waited over time. There is no denying they are both still my favorite characters from their respective games, but I think I'm just interested in exploring them less in TOA right now.

What kind of scenes, situations etc do you believe you enjoy writing the most? This really depends on the muse, but I really enjoy getting into the self reflection of characters. What they show verses what they tell, what they think verses what they'll actually say. I've written a lot of muses who are more well spoken in their mind then to others. I really like the dichotomy between that and how I can express it when writing with others.

Do you have any scenario in mind for your muse(s) that gets you thinking “man I hope I get to write/explore this one day”? This might not ever happen, but it is a scenario I think about a lot. I really want to explore a moment where Scáthach finally breaks down those self imposed walls between him and his friends. I want him to cry out how much he loves and cherishes them, and how he needs them despite how he acts. I really just get emotional thinking about the day that he finally comes over all the mental hurdles in his mind and becomes a genuine human being to others.

Favorite TOA-related memories? Last time I talked about how Soji and I reconnected, and that still is a beloved memory of mine. I have so many happy memories in TOA that it's hard to pick now. So many of you have been true friends that I've come to cherish in my heart. If I had to make some picks though, It'd probably be these: - Andrei blasting Scáthach into the dirt, and then taking his Steel Bow to then blast Ephraim in the next round. -During the very exciting event that Sara and Neuro hosted where Morgan had both Edelgard and Ferdinand on his arm. The highlight of the year for me. I never stopped smiling thinking about all the funny memes and discussions about it.

Normal size text, small text, no preference? I use small text just because it appeases something in my mind that makes it easier for me to focus.

Favored formatting that you use? I don't really have a specific kind of formatting, but I do enjoy doing color dialogue now.

Character icons? UH, I liked the big solar brace icon I used for Ephraim's blog.

Blog aesthetics? I also really enjoyed Ephraim's blog aesthetic even though I didn't spend much time on it.

Thank you all for the warm welcome back to Scáthach! It’s been such a joy finding his voice again after a long break, and I’m excited to share him with both new and familiar faces.

I’ll be writing a pinned post that goes into more detail soon, but I want to emphasize it here as well: Scáthach has been completely reset from his previous stay in Fódlan. He has no established connections outside of his castmates, so please treat him as a brand-new Black Eagles student!

[Grants Sword +1] - Now, Scáthach isn't the kind of guy to play around in the forest with sticks. At least, not anymore. Though he idles stoically from a distance, inside the competition calls to him. Will you spare him, and ask to team up? Or will you stoke his competitive nature by challenging him? [Grants Heavy Armor +1] - I honestly don't have a set in stone idea for this one. Majora's Mask is just my favorite game ever LMAO. Take my boy shopping and get him a life altering mask as a treat. [Grants Any Skill +1] - For a man as emotionally repressed as Scáthach, this disease could very well be deadly. A guiding and gentle hand could be just what he needs to expel some feelings before they consume him. : )

It's all said in jest; whatever Scáthach's tastes were was a matter all to his own self, and Leif had a hard time believing a man as taciturn as him would declare things with such intent so easily anyway, but that surprise of the wording did feel like too much to go uncommented on.

(He does wonder what Febail is doing nowadays though— how House Yngvi fares in the new era of Jugdral alongside everyone else.)

“ If you miss, there's a chance I'll be able to hit it from the other side, ” Leif replies, taking a rare, more optimistic view on the situation as they start their trek. “ Is hunting and tracking common in Isaach? I've seen Lord Seliph kill soldiers before, but somehow I can't imagine him chasing a deer for supper... ”

"pretty funny there, lord leif," it had been a while since something had given him a good laugh... probably since diarmuid fell face first into a pond after being knocked off his horse. "i can't speak for febail, but should my bowmanship cause romantic feelings within him... well, i'll have to politely decline, of course."

"all's well then," it wasn't an uncommon concept, having backup or being the backup for someone else. though it had never been with leif in particular, scáthach felt he could place faith in his strength.

"i couldn't tell you what goes as average for an isaachian, really..." maybe they had really been raised like any other isaachian, but the reality is that he did not have a normal upbringing... nor did he have normal exposure to the culture around him. "maybe it is, though..? shannan seemed to be very well versed when teaching us."

"we all learned the basics, even seliph. i can't say with certainty if i actually saw him hunt an animal, though... maybe not now, but as a boy, i fear he might have cried over it."
