I'm on this earth to live for the Lord. I certainly do not do this perfectly. I am continually reminded of my need for Him. He is my Lord and Saviour. Australia....what a gorgeous place to be!

I've never been a fan of verbal encouragement. Anyone I know who loves to give excessive verbal encouragement has never lived up to their verbal encouragement in action. They generally use people, take them for granted and just leave them in the dust when their done with them. So their words turn to lies and I then see them negatively, as liars. So you can either shut up with your verbal encouragement of lies or you can treat people with care and respect and show in action that you think highly of someone. Words need to match action. And when they don't, it makes people trust less.

Why is it so hard and awkward to visit new churches? 

you go in..

sit down next to a stranger...

listen to the pastor welcome you and ask you to stay after the service for a cuppa...

the service ends and you linger there like a loner as people walk past you and awkwardly smile but don't say hello..

you get ignored...

and then you leave after standing around like a doofus for 5min while everyone just talks to the people that they've grown up with..

and the church wonders why they aren't growing... 

We’re all just people. Why is it so hard to welcome new people? especially when they're sitting RIGHT NEXT TO YOU! 

Im so passionate about this! I have never been perfect at this but when I've realised theres a new person in my past churches I try so hard to talk to them, integrate them in, invite them to lunch/supper, introduce them to people, invite them to do social stuff, add them on Facebook...anything to make them feel welcomed.

why do people not include people in churches? why do we have to work so hard to become part of this so called ‘church family”. If these people are my brothers and sisters in Christ then why are they not more inviting?

Church is a priority in my life. I don't let the rude people stop me from looking for a church to go to. But geez it is discouraging! 

I wonder what its like for non christians that decide to visit church because they've been invited and told that they will be loved there because the sign outside welcomed them to come .. and then they're ignored. 

Its disgusting really. Im so ashamed of myself and my failings in the past as well as my so called Christian brothers and sisters who do not have the courage to welcome others in and instead tell themselves ‘someone else will talk to them because I have too much anxiety and I'm too shy” and therefore no one talks to them....and they walk out never to visit church again.

Worship is an incredible privilege, not a religious duty.

This is how you lose her. 

You lose her when you forget to remember the little things that mean the world to her: the sincerity in a stranger’s voice during a trip to the grocery, the delight of finding something lost or forgotten like a sticker from when she was five, the selflessness of a child giving a part of his meal to another, the scent of new books in the store, the surprise short but honest notes she tucks in her journal and others you could only see if you look closely.

You must remember when she forgets. 

You lose her when you don’t notice that she notices everything about you: your use of the proper punctuation that tells her continuation rather than finality, your silence when you’re about to ask a question but you think anything you’re about to say to her would be silly, your mindless humming when it is too quiet, your handwriting when you sign your name in blank sheets of paper, your muted laughter when you are trying to be polite, and more and more of what you are, which you don’t even know about yourself, because she pays attention.

She remembers when you forget. 

You lose her for every second you make her feel less and less of the  beauty that she is. When you make her feel that she is replaceable. She wants to feel cherished. When you make her feel that you are fleeting. She wants you to stay. When you make her feel inadequate. She wants to know that she is enough and she does not need to change for you, nor for anyone else because she is she and she is beautiful, kind and good.

You must learn her. 

You must know the reason why she is silent. You must trace her weakest spots. You must write to her. You must remind her that you are there. You must know how long it takes for her to give up. You must be there to hold her when she is about to. 

You must love her because many have tried and failed. And she wants to know that she is worthy to be loved, that she is worthy to be kept.

And, this is how you keep her.
