I saw another ClanGen blog do this and I thought it was cute, I'll try to have cats react to patrol encounters in-character.

Just a heads up! This comic will be mostly done with loose sketches rather than polished art! It's really all I have time for unfortunately.

FEEL FREE TO ASK THE CHARACTERS QUESTIONS!! I feel this may be a blog where characters answering stuff periodically could enhance the story!

Hi! I'm Book! (she/her) I'm an OLD school Warrior Cats fan, I've been in the fandom off and on since 2011. I stopped reading Warriors in the middle of AVOS but it's mostly because I ran out of free time to read in general.

ClanGen is REALLLY fun and I've been passively enjoying the comics for a WHILE now and as someone who LOOVESSS making comics, a slightly lower-effort, no-pressure-because-I-legally-can't-do-anything-but-make-this-for-fun comic sounded really appealing to me! I've tried a handful of runs but this time around I figured out the reason why most of my other runs didn't stick! I hope!

I gave Shatterpatch an aroace pin but I don't think Shatterpatch like. KNOWS that's a thing. But she totally is.

I also am unsure what Parsley's sexuality actually is, I'd say she's a lesbian but there's one thing that happens like 70 moons from now that throws that into complete confusion and I still haven't figured out Why She Did That. So I think Homoromantic Bisexual??? I THINK??? IDK I'm workshopping it, gave her a sapphic flag for now since she's for SURE sapphic HA.

Bonus, I made a version that features a love interest of hers! if you want a peek into Parsley's future!

YAAAAGH LET'S GOOO HOPECLAN IS FINALLY PROPERLY BECOMING HOPECLAN!! I'm genuinely so excited to get to the CLANGEN part of this ClanGen blog and OUT of the exposition RAAAGH. Just like one more small update and one more (EXTREMELY BIG) moon!

It's been a while, sorry! I started a side ClanGen blog and it accidentally took over my art free time for a SOLID 2 weeks (@wovenclan)

@shatterpatchs-hopeclan so, this blog has only TOUCHED on the topic of religion and death and afterlife, but i saw the prompt and wanted to try my paw at a shatterpatch design anyway! (Especially since the clan guide in Anemochory is currently alive ;v; and plus I like having the chance to share the religion that I prefer to go with for my Clangen runs over a formal Starclan)

SO: essentially, death melds the cat with the natural world around them. Everything in nature has its own spirit- in birth, peices from spirits of the world around form the soul of a cat, and in death, these souls rejoin the spirit they had split from. Shatterpatch in the world of Anemochory would not only be more akin to a god, but would probably have also essentially consumed the entire clan. Something something autocannibalism- while ordinarily multiple cats DO form spirits, the spirits also tend to reshape only for those that knew individuals in it. Therefore, only Shatterpatch is visible... even if never truly alone. And usually I steer away from stereotypically angel-like imagery, but in this case, I think using the appearance of something mystic and holy to farther drive in the "please you can't leave me I have no one else" is a fun idea.

Anyways, for some extra: Waterfalls pour from Shatter's glowing eyes, pooling to create lakes to make rivers to dig gulleys to form canyons to split the world apart.

OH WOWWWW THIS DESIGN IS SOOO COOL!!! I LOVE all of the imagery and the ethereal touches to the design! Those EYES and the wing-ears are SO good! Thank you so much! I can only hope that I was able to recreate the colors well enough!

HELLOOOO??? THIS IS SO COOL??? Okay so fun fact about my art that hasn't come up in any of my ClanGen stuff is that I L O V E doing drawings where there are a metric TON of eyes. This design is SO cool and also tailored FOR me HAHA. I WAS going to color it, but after thinking it over, I realized that having it be toned so that you could turn the lines white like this would be WAY cooler sooo...!

design notes & my boy under the cut!

I tried to make the patches look like stars, except for the patch over her eye. It still kind of keeps the star shape, but moreso it looks like a scar. A wound. Hidden under her bangs like a secret :)

Speaking of bangs, big fan of characters with ulterior motives having an eye hidden... Only for that eye to be revealed once their true motives are. So. Obviously had to do it for her!

I don't think the eye works. This Shatterpatch was maybe born with it like that and the eyelid atrophied due to lack of use? I know that's how human eyelids work when an eye isn't in use from a young age, idk if cats are like that too ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯

I color picked from her in-game sprite but then desaturated her a little bit. For funsies. And because I prefer to play on genemod, so if Shatterpatch were actually in my save she probably would be more of a dilute grey than blue!

The first version is my attempt to mimic the StarClan water background lol I'm in LOVE with the way you depict StarClan in the comic but I simply. Would not survive. If I had to do that myself. Painting space & galaxies is my weakness

Her ear tufts are very floppy. Very thick fur that flops around everywhere when she moves her head. Does that make sense? No. Did I add that just because I enjoy drawing floppy ear tufts? 100000%. All cats deserve ear tufts.

Her cheek fluff and bangs are ALSO floppy as well

AHHH this design is SO COOL! I LOVE the eye scar and all of the starry decals on Shatter's feet and tail! I made super sure to make her push her hair back so you could see the marking because it NEEDED drawing haha. And I super appreciate you walking through all of your design choices!! I also happen to need oh... let's say roughly 9 Shatterpatches for a future update and I thought it might be fun to have them be like... AU versions of her! Soooo DESIGN CONTEST? Sort of. IDK. I feel bad at the idea of doing a design contest when i haven't even gotten past moon 1 yet so! We're making this an "EVERYONE gets a prize" sort of deal SIDHCISDf.

I've been doing some owed art catch up that built up while I was at college, but I am taking note of submissions and I promise they'll be queued up as soon as I have time to draw them again!! TYSM!! There have already been 8 submissions which is WILD, I really didn't think I'd get enough for a full [SPOILERS BUT IT'S OBVIOUS]. The ClanGen community rules so much ;0;/)(\

so i dont know what happened here pattern wise i just got super carried away um heres my 'what if Shatterpatch was in my clangen save(Canary-Clan)' for @shatterpatchs-hopeclan . thought process for drawing and cat below cut

Ok so i tend to treat one color cats as patterned if theres not a lot of white/i dont have a unique fur/body style just because i find it more fun. but i definitely over did it fir this design but oh well ( i was even planning on adding patterns based on paredolia :seeing faces/objects/animals in things like clouds but decided against it only adding a few eye like stripes to the front legs to make a bit more unsettling quality to her as any old spirit should be)

i at first was going to go the bird angle and i still tried but i think i landed more closer to a butterfly/fae theme instead which still fits for a Canary-Clan spirit (also because i was listening to Stranger by rabbitolagy + the way Shatterpatch interacts with the living world feels very fae) id probably change her name if she was in CC though something like Swan-Swirl. id definitely have to tone back the detail if she would be a important character but i also could see me keeping a complex design if she was only going to appear a few times (similar to the actual 'starclan guide' in CCs save file who hasn't appeared yet her names NightBeak and i am going to hate drawing her)

as for a cat to draw ummmmmmmmm idk heres Owl i think she'd be very cute in your style

for the design contest, do you have any specific rules/requests (ie realism, strict adherence to the sprite, etc) that you'd prefer the design to follow?

Nope!! So long as she stays a cat, all entries are okay!

This is entirely being run because I'm curious how other people would approach the design so it'd be counter-productive of me to put rules on it! ^^
