Shinsou should have transferred to the hero course immediately
The Sports Festival was about a month into the school year, and only 2 weeks after the USJ incident. But apparently it’s impossible to catch up ONE MONTH out of a 3 YEAR COURSE without a year’s worth of prep??
The Sports Festival was a much more effective test of a student’s abilities than the entrance exam, and we see that Shinsou gets further than almost all of Class B and several prominent members of Class A. He reached the same stage in the tournament as Yaoyozoru, a recommendations student. Each of the stages tested for different skills, and Shinsou excelled in all of them, only losing at the final stage because Midoriya is a Special Main Character ™ who cannot lose in a test of mental fortitude without undermining his resolve to be a hero.
ANYWAY my point is that Shinsou was at a similar, perhaps even higher, level than the hero course students when they started at UA. Most of them had absolutely zero prior training. Catching up to less than a month of classes should be simple, especially considering that it’s the start of the year so they likely weren’t doing anything that extreme yet, and seeing as Shinsou was already doing all the same lessons (apart from Heroics) in his General Studies lessons.
They could’ve had him train with Aizawa during the internships - seriously, he had nothing to do for a week? Well I guess he gets another child lol. Potential-wise, there is absolutely no way that you can say Shinsou has any less potential than, say, Mineta. Which is part of why the fandom is so obsessed with kicking out Mineta and having Shinsou take his place. I mean, it also has to do with the fact that Mineta is a cringey pervert, but that’s not my point here.
So. Yes. Shinsou should’ve transferred straight away and the only reason he didn’t was because Horikoshi didn’t expect readers to actually like him. When they did, he went ‘oh, whelp, I gotta put him back into the story now!’
