Another reason why I love Smoke x Annie…

Smoke was a man’s man, but Annie didn’t have to be a docile, damsel in distress type for them to work.

She was strong, wise, powerful, and had a lot of shit going for herself outside of him. That’s so important to highlight, especially in the current wave of this tradwife/softgirl era shit.

So many of our female ancestors were just like Annie and it didn’t make them any less of a woman. They could be themselves and still be in partnership with someone who respected it.

They didn’t have to mold themselves into a white supremacist ideal of “femininity.”
