An open letter for my first job..
I know everyone of us have their first jobs and their first tries. One of the most unforgettable moments of our lives is to work for the very first time right after you graduated from college. And it feels like "pasan mo ang buong mundo" After we graduated in college I know some of us thinks that it's very hard, we cannot pass the interviews or the exams. All negativity is all in our aspects of our lives. But dont you think of quitting because you are just starting. It's just the beginning so dont ever doubt on your capabilities. You can do what others can.
Working for the first time gives me a lot of emotions. First , I want to quit and then I want to go back studying but then I want to work. It's so crazy and confusing. I know some of you also experienced the same thing, where you're on the stage of finding what you really want, you're passion and what you desire for.
When I first started working in this company (CPILS) I wasn't happy and not satisfied because it was not my dream job and the career that I want in the future. I graduated as a Communication student so I want to work in relation to my course and in-line with it but it didnt happen. So I just settle in working in that company for the mean time.
On my first day, I was very nervous because I really didn't know what to do. (First time workers can also feel the same way too.) But on the second day, I felt a bit of relief because I already knew what to do. And some of the teachers working there are very kind and humble. They understand that its my first time to work in that kind of job so they never hesitate to teach me and share their ideas also. Im very much grateful for them.
One month has passed, I already love my job unexpectedly. It seems like I dont want to be absent and I want to see my co-teachers and my students everyday. They are the source of my happiness in that very moment. Going to work everyday maybe draining for other people but for me it didnt stressed me out because as what the quote say, "Find a job that you love then you will not be working for your whole life." Am I right? Thats very funny but its true. It seems like I'm not working and I'm happy going to work everyday. It's all that matters, our happiness.
Eventhough its very far from our home, I have the need to wake up early and attend my class because I treated them as my family already. They made me feel better, shine better and to be confident with myself. It was my first time to hear someone telling me that I'm very kind teacher and a beautiful person inside and out. Everyday they kept on telling me that I'm beautiful, I think thats the reason why I'm motivated to work. (LOL, are you kidding me) There are times that we didn't study, they just kept on asking about me or something that I like or hate. And I'm so happy to share my own thoughts and sentiments with them also.
We also relate to our studies about our personal lives so that it wont be boring and I can also share some intersting lessons to them. Life lessons as what they say is very important matter in this new era. Eventhough its very unbelievable sometimes, I also believe them because I know they also believe me. It is something that I should be grateful for.
Every student, there are different memories and stories. My students really brought a big impact into my life. I also learned something from them, starting from their cultures, beliefs and norms. It's totally different in Philippines. But these differences didnt hindered us to accept the reality that we came from different races. We respect each other and we value our relationship more than anything else. They also taught me how to eat vegetables because I really dont like eating Veges and because of them I already love it and continue loving it until now. It's an achievement for me.
Everytime my student left they already made a wonderful memory with me that I will never forget and I will treasure for the rest of my life. Promises and goodbyes are very hard to accept but I know someday I will meet one of them and reminisce all the happy memories we had before.
Being an ESL teacher was such a great experience and a lesson to everybody who wants to have good english communication skill because you need not just to teach but to study also. So you will be trained everyday, reading the books, writing activities and all the aspects in teaching. Be the person that you want by choosing the job the you love.
Good luck to all graduates that are applying for job. I know its hard for you but dont give up, find a job that you love. I know it takes time but it will be worth it at the end.
