"Evidence that Pokémon once familiar to us have been spotted in the various dimensions linked together by Ultra Space, in the same way that Ultra Beasts have been spotted in our own dimension. Upon falling through an Ultra Wormhole, these Pokemon become bathed in a strange energy that seems to facilitate rapid changes and adaptations needed to survive in their new environments, among other speculated effects. We have dubbed them "dimensional forms," though internally we use the code name "ultra variant," or "UV" for short."
-Aether Report excerpt
It seems that when exposed to the bizarre lands of Ultra Space, Eevee's evolutions take on new forms. I wonder what other strange forms we have yet to see! More info coming soon!
*More detailed lore later, but as a brief explanation on each one's inspirations:
Inspired by gooompy's beautiful art the autist in me couldn't help but imagine stats and strategic niches.
UV-134 Murky - Vaporeon
Type: Water/Poison
Stats: HP 131 Attack 67 Defense 67 Special Attack 97 Special Defense 109 Speed 59 Total: 530
Ability: Beast Boost
Common Moves: Toxic, Acid Armor, Strength Sap, Surf, Sludge Wave
Design Thoughts: Like the pollution of the Ultra Ruin, UV-134 doesn't win fights with flashy finishers, but with creeping toxins and attrition. As such its defenses are even slightly higher and offenses slightly lower than a classic Vaporeon. Vaporeon's classic Toxic stall strategy is a natural fit for UV-134, whose Poison typing also invokes Vaporeon's iconic Acid Armor. Beast Boost and Acid Armor together make this creature dangerously hardy if you let the poison set in. Instead of traditional recovery options UV-134 has Strength Sap, to represent a more parasitic mode of sustaining itself, as the polluted waters weaken its opponents. To balance Strength Sap's incredible utility UV-134 slows down and loses access to base Vaporeon's Scald and Flip Turn, reflecting its plastic binding and loss of the classic mermaid's tail.
UV-135 Surge - Jolteon
Type: Electric/Dragon
Stats: HP 67 Attack 109 Defense 67 Special Attack 97 Special Defense 59 Speed 131 Total: 530
Ability: Beast Boost
Common Moves: Zing Zap, Scale Shot, Electro Ball, Dragon Dance, Magnet Rise
Design Thoughts: Invoking the Japanese Raiju, UV-135 is all about speed. Switching its focus from special attacks to physical attacks to represent its draconic ferocity and forceful physicality, UV-135 uses Beast Boost, Scale Shot, and Dragon Dance to reach lightning speeds, enabling Electro Ball and emulating the ball lightning the mythic creature was inspired by. Zing Zap is a good fit as a strong physical option typically reserved for electric types with spiky bodies - which UV-135 has in abundance! Magnet Rise is an extra utility option, allowing it to soar through the sky.
UV-136 Crackle - Flareon
Type: Fire/Steel
Stats: HP 109 Attack 131 Defense 67 Special Attack 67 Special Defense 97 Speed 59 Total: 530
Ability: Beast Boost
Common Moves: Explosion, Flare Blitz, Spikes, Bullet Punch, Rapid Spin
Design Thoughts: Often maligned as one of the less powerful Eevee-lutions Flareon finds a niche as UV-136 as a hazard setter that can also threaten a hard-hitting Flare Blitz or priority Bullet Punch. Explosion and Spikes are a natural flavor win for UV-136's shrapnel grenade design and synergize nicely strategically. UV-136 maintains Flareon's iconically high attack stat, but Bullet Punch and Explosion give it more productive outlets. UV-136 also prioritizes higher HP and defenses at the cost of lower Special Attack and Speed, allowing it to survive early rounds of hazard setting, as well as use Explosion to allow a teammate a clean switch in. Flare Blitz remains as a Flareon classic, and the recoil fits naturally with a grenade's self-destructive theming.
UV-196 Seer - Espeon
Type: Psychic/Ground
Stats: HP 109 Attack 59 Defense 131 Special Attack 97 Special Defense 67 Speed 67 Total: 530
Ability: Beast Boost
Common Moves: Rest, Sleep Talk, Calm Mind, Psycho Shift, Scorching Sands, Future Sight, Extrasensory, Perish Song, Healing Wish, Revival Blessing
Design Thoughts: Once held sacred by a civilization, now UV-196 sleeps in its buried remains. Here the creature dreams in riddles, of all that was and could be, its mind travelling farther the longer it dreams.
With impressive defenses, Rest-recovery, and several time dependent moves, UV-196 can stick it out until its prophecies come true. Sleep Talk allows it to defend itself even in the depths of sleep, and with Psycho Shift can even entrap others in its ancient slumber. Calm Mind makes it a heavy hitter and rounds out an already impressive bulk. Scorching Sands further sets the clock by threatening burn, as UV-196 reminds us even the strongest shields eventually succumb to rust and ruin.
Healing Wish and Revival Blessing are an alternative path, when a UV-196 desires not to gamble on the future, but rather resurrect a distant past.
UV-197 Hollow - Umbreon
Type: Dark/Ghost
Stats: HP 131 Attack 97 Defense 67 Special Attack 67 Special Defense 109 Speed 59 Total: 530
Ability: Beast Boost
Common Moves: Phantom Force, Sucker Punch, Foul Play, Knock Off, Hyperspace Hole, Fake Out, Trick Room, Protect, Ally Switch, Follow Me, Substitute, Taunt, Switcheroo, Pursuit, Mirror Coat, Counter, Teleport.
Design Thoughts: Sneaky UV-197 doesn't fight fair. Vanishing into other dimensions with Phantom Force, Protect, and Substitute; attacking at oblique angles with Hyperspace Hole; warping the rules of space with Sucker Punch, Fake Out, Trick Room, and Ally Switch/Follow Me. A consummate doubles partner, UV-197 has all the utility. Fake Out and Trick Room help manage speed, while it uses its gravitational pull to absorb attacks with Follow Me. Follow Me and Ally Switch are particularly devious on a Ghost type with high defenses and few weaknesses. UV-197 also maintains Umbreon's traditional defensive bulk, although the points have been shifted towards HP by its deceptive gravity-warping mass. In single combat it relies on Taunt, Counter, and Mirror Coat, returning its enemy's attacks back to them, while trapping fragile foes with Pursuit. Teleport allows the user to travel the map with wormholes, while also allowing UV-197 to use its slow speed to allow an ally a safe switch in.
UV-470 Wild - Leafeon
Type: Grass/Fighting
Stats: HP 97 Attack 131 Defense 67 Special Attack 59 Special Defense 67 Speed 109 Total: 530
Ability: Beast Boost
Common Moves: Trailblaze, Close Combat, Drain Punch, Bulk Up, Wood Hammer
New Move: Fierce Pounce - Grass - Physical - PP 20; BP 70; ACC 100
Fierce Pounce deals damage and has a 10% chance of paralyzing the target. Fierce Pounce will always deal super-effective (x2) damage to the Flying-type and Bug-type, even during Inverse Battles or if its type is changed.
Design Thoughts: UV-470 is the top of the food chain. Fierce Pounce allows UV-470 Wild to predate upon the other creatures of the jungle, hunting down the Flying and Bug types against which it competes in an evolutionary arms race. Fast enough predators might be able to get one over UV-470's 109 Speed, but survival of the fittest is the law of the Ultra Jungle. Eat or be eaten. And if you don't strike fast, Leafeon's Trailblaze will set it up to tear through you in return, with Close Combat, Wood Hammer, Fierce Pounce, 131 Attack, and Beast Boost, turning it into a ferocious Apex predator.
UV-471 Brittle - Glaceon
Type: Ice/Rock
Stats: HP 67 Attack 67 Defense 59 Special Attack 97 Special Defense 131 Speed 109 Total: 530
Ability: Beast Boost
Common Moves: Sheer Cold, Stealth Rock, Recover, Guillotine, Icy Wind, Rock Tomb, Ice Beam, Power Gem, Snowscape, Aurora Veil, Calm Mind
New Move: Shatter Clone - Ice - Status - PP 10; BP /; ACC /
By giving up 1/3 of its maximum Hit Points (rounded down) the user creates a substitute. If that substitute is destroyed in one hit, it sets one layer of spikes on the opposing side of the field. This effect does not occur if the substitute is destroyed by a Fire-type move.
Design Thoughts: UB-471 turns fragility into a weapon. The normally fragile Ice/Rock typing can be an asset when Glaceon's Shatter Clones lay spikes if destroyed too quickly. Too eager and foes will find themselves surrounded by sharp layers of glittering shards. Too cautious, and UB-471 may snowball with Calm Mind and Recover, chip away with Ice Beam and Icy Wind, or find the chance to land a surprising one-hit execution. Like the coral it is based on UB-471 is meant to present a defense that feels fractal and alien, fragile and robust all at once. Low Defense and high Special Defense allow both sides to play with the relative durability of Glaceon's clones while also invoking the Cryogonal/Frosmoth paradigm that ice-shard defenses are specially bulky, but physically brittle. Decently high speed makes breaking UB-471 before it can clone itself difficult, but not impossible. A weakness to Fire provides another out, against an otherwise confounding defense.
UV-700 Maiden - Sylveon
Type: Fairy/Flying
Stats: HP 97 Attack 59 Defense 67 Special Attack 131 Special Defense 67 Speed 109 Total: 530
Ability: Beast Boost
Common Moves: Springtide Storm, Bleakwind Storm, Sandsear Storm, Wildbolt Storm, Revelation Dance, Rain Dance, Quiver Dance, Victory Dance, Tailwind, Whirlwind, Heal Pulse, Healing Wish, Psych Up, Lovely Kiss, Heal Bell
Design Thoughts: Based on a Miko shrine maiden, UV-700 can perform powerful dances to enter a shamanic and ecstatic state. While of course a shrine maiden has great powers of healing, she can also commune with powerful spirits, channeling their might with herself as the medium.
Likewise, when UV-700's gohei tassels flutter in a sudden shifting of the wind, watch out! This dangerous creature somehow emulates the powers of the Kami Quartet - those incarnated spirits with command over seasons and storm (Springtide, Bleakwind, Sandsear, and Wildbolt, to be exact). With surprising windborne speed, and devastating spiritual power, this maiden is never to be taken lightly, capable of supporting a partner, gaining strength, or putting incredible pressure on several foes at once.
