Here she is, the star of the show: Aaliyah Ismail, the girl who only likes black metal. At the start of the story, Aaliyah works in a stall selling vapes in a London shopping arcade, even though she hates vapes, and is studying at the local community college to be a hairdresser, even though she hates hairdressing. Her dearest ambition is to front a truly evil black metal group. When her parents announce that they're going to follow her uncle and cousins back to Syria after the fall of Assad, she flees to Sweden and throws herself upon the mercy of the survivors of her childhood favourite band: Omnis Spiritus.
Her axe is a Squier she bought for £1.50 in a charity shop aged twelve and repaired herself. She's been trying to save for an amp, but can't stop blowing all her cash on vinyls. Four foot ten in thick-soled sneakers. Has such a vast crush on Necrobutcher that she represents a serious danger to his mental wellbeing and bodily integrity. Develops parasocial relationships with any and every tragically-deceased metal musician. In denial about being sexually attracted to Varg.
