milo smiled kindly at her, trying to keep his persona. he couldn’t help, but take note of how stunning she looked. however, he knew it’d be incredibly unprofessional for him to make any advances like that. it’d be similar to a student doing something in the middle of lecture. “ oh no no no. ” he looked down and laughed, waving his hands. “ i don’t dance for my students. at least like this. from what they know, i dance like a dad. ” he admitted, doing a small little jig that wouldn’t make anyone suspect he danced. rubbing his hands against his slacks, he stepped forward and took her hand in his. “ professor milo yalung, but you can just call me milo. ” he chuckled, giving her hand a small squeeze. he maintained eye contact with the sheriff. it was simply a sign of respect, but he couldn’t help getting lost in her eyes for a brief moment before letting go. “ so uh.. monroe. ” milo cleared his throat as he walked over back to his desk, turning the speaker off. “ i guess i’ll head out before i overstay. ” he gave her a small smile as he started stacking his papers. after a brief moment, he looked back up at her. “ when do you get off work? it’s just that.. yknow, hard day at work. we deserve a drink or something. ”
Monroe noticed his eyes linger on hers for a moment longer than normal as they shook hands. Is there something on my face? she thought as he let go of her hand. She began to spiral into her own mind but it all came to a stop when she heard Milo ask when she was off duty. “Or something?” She raised an eyebrow as she spoke out loud. Monroe’s eyes wandered up and down him again. She couldn’t remember the last time she had gone out to the bar. None the less with a man. “Actually this is my last walk though.” Milo seemed like a nice a nice enough guy- why not have some fun? She double checked the time. “However, if we’re talking drinks I’d prefer to have a chance to get out of uniform.” Monroe smirked as looked at him.
margctevans:
❝ would that really be necessary ?? ❞ her question was accompanied by raised brows. ❝ surely you can let off a first-time offender with a warning. ❞
“First-time offender?” Monroe couldn’t help but to chuckle. “You mean first time this week right?” She shook her head and smiled. “What’s got you in such a rush anyways? Should I be scared?”
cxitlinv:
“That’d make you forty, and if you are, damn, please tell me your secrets.” Caitlin arched her eyebrows, before cursing, “Ah, bollocks, I’ll have to get that fixed then, thanks for the heads up,”
“Close, I’m thirty-six.” Monroe couldn’t help but to laugh and shake her head. “The secret is pie, nothing is better than a nice warm slice of it after a long day.” She thought for a moment. “I’m sure it’s just a wiring issue, if you’d like we could run over to Ed’s shop to have him look it over. I’d hate for you to get rear-ended.”

milo felt like grading papers at school after hours would be the perfect fix to his procrastination. and yet, there he was not even a fourth through the stack where he was already bored. milo rummaged through his bag before coming across his bluetooth speaker. connecting to it, he started playing 에라 모르겠다 (Fxxk It). removing his blazer, he pushed the classroom door closed to prevent anyone from walking in on him dancing. even though it wasn’t likely at this hour, it was also the courteous thing for him to do. as he started dancing, he could feel the stress of the papers practically flying off of him with each sharp movement. this piece was more for fun than anything. something to loosen his limbs and get him hyped up. milo could’ve freestyled the night away, but he knew that he wanted to work on a specific piece.
even one of the quiet songs he would make dances to seemed to drown at everything else in the world. he put his blazer back on, folding the sleeves up like his dress shirt as he went through his choreography for Naked for the second time. eyes shut so he could focus on the movement of his body, he didn’t notice that the door to his classroom had been opened. as he draped a portion of his jacket around his neck, his eyes opened to see the sheriff’s eyes on him. “ o-oh! ” he exclaimed quickly as he went to lower the volume, his cheeks warm from both dancing and embarrassment for being caught. “ was it loud? i could leave. ” he chuckled, scratching the back of his neck.
Monroe didn’t mean to scare the man dancing in the abandoned classroom. Guilt immediately washed over her as she watched him become embarrassed. Her first instinct was to comfort him, and assure him everything was alright. “Not at all professor.” Monroe took a step into the classroom towards him. “The last class in this building ended about an hour ago.” She couldn’t help but to scan over the man with her eyes once more. “Usually I skip it on my second walk through, but I’m glad I didn’t.” Her eyes met his once more as her sentence lingered in the air. He was certainly attractive, especially with the sleeves rolled up.
“You’re an amazing dancer, I envy your students because they must see it often.” Monroe laughed lightly and bit her bottom lip. For some reason she suddenly felt like she was intruding on the man. She was also very aware of the fact she was in uniform and not at a bar. Not that being at a bar would help, but at least there would be alcohol. “Don’t be an idiot, you’re the sheriff and first impressions are extremely important.” She began to mentally coach herself out of overthinking the situation. Besides, anything outside of being her most professional self while in uniform was strictly against the rules. “Monroe Mason by the way, I don’t believe we’ve met.” She extended her hand to shake with a smile.
bugcaldwell:
‘ Sweet ‘ the word resonated in the man’s head for a moment. Bug was a lot of things and sweet was usually the first thing people noted about his personality, though he never tried to be. A half-dumbfounded half-happily surprised look slid onto his face, “I didn’t know you read. I didn’t think you’d have any time. Gatsby is one of the best, I’m praying that you don’t like it just because Leonardo Dicaprio is in the movie. He isn’t that big of a heart throb anyway.”
“My mind tends to race at at night and reading is the one thing that really gets me out of my head besides working out.” Monroe tried to hold in the embarrassment as she laughed and rubbed the back of her neck. “I knew about Gatsby long before Leonardo played him. Reading The Great Gatsby is like taking a bite into a rich chocolate cake. The way Fitzgerald could paint a scene deserves to go down in history.” She took another drink of her coffee and smiles. “Besides, when it comes to heart throbs I’m more of a Ryan Gosling kind of girl anyways.” She winked as she set down her mug.
throwing his work bag over his shoulder as he stepped out of his car, callum leaned back against the door of the vehicle as he looked up at his house. it had been the busiest week of his life. he had done multiple twenty-four hour shifts and even helped out at the volunteering centre when he wasn’t working, ensuring every minute was kept busy. taking a step on to the path that was outside his house, the brunette span around quickly as he heard a loud noise from nearby. “is everything alright?” he called over, jogging to where the sound came from.
Monroe had been chasing the Adam’s dog for about three blocks now. Since their daughter was off to college they didn’t have anyone to really rescue the dog when he got loose. Replacing their fence has just moved to the priority list. Thankfully she was out of uniform and wasn’t weighted down by her equipment. She was just about to be in reach when he knocked over a trash can. Monroe immediately tripped and landed on the pavement. The dog finally stopped and began sniffing Monroe to make sure she was alright. She jumped when she heard someone above her. “Oh yeah, I’m fine....I didn’t make the neighborhood Olympics team though.”
@miloyalyum
Monroe was towards the end of a long day. It was definitely going to be one of those nights to drink wine and eat ice-cream for dinner. Her final stop was to do a second walk through the university. Which never bothered her. She loved to talk with the students and the students enjoyed talking to her (for the most part). As she walked through the campus she had a few small conversations and even posed for a few photos. She was walking around the desolate halls of the last building. The final class there had ended about an hour ago, so when she heard music playing her eyebrow raised. When she peering in the doorway she couldn’t help but to smile. There was a man dancing alone in the classroom without a care in the world. Monroe leaned against the door with a smile on her face as she watched him. When he noticed, she raised her hands “You don’t have to stop on my account.”

Bug shifted from his position, his eyes lighting up slightly when he recognised the customer. “Ah, if it isn’t the best sheriff Golden has to offer.” He noted down her order and pinned it up in the kitchen, continuing to speak as he made her coffee, “It’s called 1984 - George Orwell. It’s dystopian but incredible. One of the classics.” Spinning around the place the coffee in front of Monroe he eyed her up and down, “Long night too, huh? Tell you what, it’s on the house. Let me know if you need a refill.”
“Oh Buggy, you’re much too sweet.” Monroe nodded and and took a sip of the coffee, immediately sighing in relief. “It looks like you’re pretty slammed as well.” She looked around the diner and waved to a few of the customers. “By the way, I might be a cop but I’m not entirely dumb.” Monroe turned and looked back at Bug with a smile. “Who isn’t familiar with the original big brother?” she took another sip of coffee and laughed. “However when it comes to classics, i’m more of a Gatsby girl.”
