Fight Colorectal Cancer Benefit

On Friday April 1, 2016 I performed the song “Superwoman” I had written for my friend Lisa Palet Goldstein about her journey with colon cancer that was showcased in the last blog post on the radio. I was accompanied by Nashville singer/songwriter Michael Kelsh and dobro musician Al Goll for our performance at the Sparks of Strength Luminary event. 

The folks with Fight Colorectal Cancer shared the live performance and Lisa’s talk over Periscope. If you missed it here are the links from the event!

We were on WSM Radio today!!

Today I had the wonderful privilege of doing a last minute radio show with Devon O’Day and Nan Kelley over at WSM radio. I was asked to come out and showcase the details for the Sparks of Strength Luminary event I will be performing at this Friday night between 8:00PM and 9:30PM in downtown Nashville. Danielle Ripley-Burgess, representative for the Fight Colorectal Cancer organization also joined us on the show. The interview showcases cancer survivor Lisa Palet Goldstein’s story and my live performance of the song I wrote in her honor called “Superwoman.” I was accompanied by Nashville singer/songwriter Michael Kelsh and dobro musician Al Goll.

 These two (below) were troopers, they showed up at my house only a few hours before the radio show to learn my song and help save radio land from my horrible guitar skills!

The organization “Fight Colorectal Cancer” is a nonprofit organization known for their colorectal cancer awareness, advocacy, patient education and research programs. This weekend they are in Nashville for their One Million Strong Showcase.  I have the honor of performing my “Superwoman” written for my best friend Lisa Palet Goldstein after watching her struggle through treatment over the past year and a half. You can read more about her story in my February 2015 “Fabulous Women Over 40″ blog post.

I am honored to be a part of many planned events this weekend by the organization. Please come out and support the One Million Strong Showcase and be inspired! Lisa will be speaking and I will be singing the song “Superwoman” with Al and Michael backing me up musically.

New music…

I am working on music again and I am super excited! I picked up the guitar in October of last year and am trying to work solely alone this time around. The main reason is that I want to finally follow through on having a full album professionally produced and available on iTunes. I feel that my having complete control of the project will help in accomplishing my goal. Unfortunately my past projects were never completed after becoming too complicated with more than one opinion in decision making efforts and lack of funds.

I have missed writing music so much after a 10 year hiatus and felt it was time to move forward. I realize that I can no longer rely on a guitar player to help because I need to be able to share if the opportunity arises so I am working on learning how to play the guitar and sing my own tunes. I will be co writing with some other great musicians and songwriters but the overall album concept will be my own.

Here are my first two test practicing in my living room with my big dog as my audience. I am not much of a musician so be patient with the guitar picking, the album will have professionals involved! I would love to hear what you think about these song's...feel free to share your thoughts!

"Miss You" This song was 8 years in the making. I wanted to create something that was dedicated to the beautiful relationship and memories of 3 best friends I lost tragically since 2008. This song came together on November 17, 2015 after several hours of putting my thoughts and memories down on paper. It is dedicated to Todd Garrett, Dina DGerolamo and Victoria Bowen, 3 very important people who are no longer here in flesh but live on in spirit.

"Superwoman" This was the first song I completed after my 10+ year hiatus of songwriting. I wrote it for my best friend Lisa Palet Goldstein after watching her struggle through colon cancer for more than a year. We all watched her go through the radiation and chemo like a superwoman and even started a support group where we all referenced her strength to "Wonderwoman". Thankfully she is now cancer free. This is my tribute to her strength and positive demeanor through what she refers to as her most difficult life time hurdle.

My Inspiration Avenue Art site is LIVE!!!

Hi Folks,

I have been busy re-designing my Inspiration Avenue Art Site over the past year and finally have it complete. Pretty excited to get back in the studio and create some new things, its been a crazy busy year and I have a lot of new ideas waiting to work on. Nashville Creative Group-Music & Art Co-Creation

In August 2012 I joined the Nashville Creative Group with the hopes of meeting and networking with other creatives in and around Nashville. Beth Inglish McMillian started the group with the intent of creating a community where creative people could share ideas, network and help to develop a presence in our Nashville art community. It has been an absolutely wonderful experience and I always look forward to each monthly gathering. I am especially excited about the event coming up on Monday May 9th at Emma’s Bistro. This will be the first time that our group will intermingle and create together with no agenda other than to have fun. Some will share their musical talents, others will paint, share ideas and socialize among the group. Jerry’s Artarama has even donated canvas and paints for us to use so we can create a collaborative art piece while mixing among our friends.

If you are a creative of any kind I hope you will come join in on the fun on Monday night June 9th. If you want to bring a beverage and/or snack to share that would be great but its not required. Come be a part of something awesome, lets join together and make some noise in the art community! You can find out more here!
