Sherlolly 2016 Remix Challenge

From now until May 30th, there will be a Sherlolly Remix Challenge!

What is a remix challenge?

A remix is simply a different version of an existing fanwork. (You can find more info of general remix challenges here.)

You would be taking an existing fic (or fanart) and changing it up to be slightly different while still keeping a lot of elements of the original work. For example: BBC Sherlock could be considered a remix of ACD’s Sherlock Holmes series (further, you could consider the Sherlock special a remix of itself, in a way).

Is there a deadline?

Not really. You can finish and post when you choose, but submissions to the collection will be open until May 30th. However, all submissions must be completed works.

The mods will release new submissions to the collection on the last day of every month until then.

Which fic can I choose from? Are there assignments?

While traditionally remix challenges require matchups, we are leaving this challenge a little looser.

Which makes this a bit tricky.

Option 1 - YOU CAN VOLUNTEER YOUR FIC (sign ups for this will close on Feb 14th)

Please use this form. It will require links to be provided. A few things, though: if an author picks up one of your works, you might not be contacted by the author remixing your work. Please think about this before submitting your work. However, we will ask for you to provide your email should an author wish to get in touch with you.

Option 2 - YOU CAN USE YOUR OWN FIC

If you have something you’re dying to revisit from your own fics, you can absolutely use your own work to remix.

Option 3 - That’s it, you’re out of options. If you aren’t using your own story, you may pick from the list that we will provide. You cannot randomly pick a story from an author that hasn’t authorized its use (it’s downright rude, honestly). The list of available fics will be available after Feb 14th.

Does my fic have to be as long as the original fic?

No, not at all. It’s yours to make as long or as short as you wish.

Do I have to be in touch with the original author?

No, you do not. However, if you would like to contact them, please let the mods know and we will get you in touch.

Can I remix something else?

Yes. It doesn’t have to be just fics! You can remix fanart as well (but the above rules apply).

What are the rules again?

Remix an existing COMPLETE fic.

Remix must be complete to be accepted to the collection.

Submissions to the collection will accepted until May 30th, 2016.

You must link the original work in your story and gift it to the author.

If you remixed a fic you did NOT get permission for, it will be removed from the collection. This is on the honor system, so please be cool.
