Alibaba spent ¥10B trying to build an operating system that can compete with iOS and Android but failed. Finland tech guys from Nokea said it’s because China doesn’t have the DNA. The Western countries spent years to build these complicated systems for years and went through decades of experiments and lessons. It’s very hard for China to catch up in a short period of time.

Currently Huawei’s operating system is built on top of Android which is open-sourced. Chinese government may be interested in purchasing Nokea because of national security. The probable condition is to own the tech completely.

p.s. Nokea didn’t believe in smartphone concept and went downhill when smartphones started becoming popular.

I used to think books are always better than TV shows because you are more active when reading. But recently I started to re-contemplate on this idea. I figured I’m more motivated to learn the vocabs and they tend to stick for longer in memory, because of the audio and visual effects of watching TV shows.

At the same time, I think it’s also a more direct way to learn about social cues in TV shows because you can nearly see peoples facial expressions and reactions towards other people in social settings.

I actually started to think about my opinions towards your boss and TV shows after I knew that Mary’s friends, America actually watches a lot of TV shows and movies as well on top of numerous books that she reads regularly.

At the end of the day, I think it’s about which media helps you to retain the content better and next to more engaged in the materials. So from now on, I need to remind myself that I need to be more open-minded about new things and always remain critical mind towards some thinking is that has been around for a long time and people assume it’s always true.

Watched a YT video today about extremely successful people. The host says the key factor for being extremely successful isn’t about the morning routines or taking supplements everyday, it’s being a correct contrarian and execute on it. Well I’ve been a big advocate of routines and being able to improve 1% everyday. So I thought about it and after careful thought on it, I still think routines matter because it helps you to correctly identify contrarian ideas and being able to execute on it. For example, if I didn’t know enough about let’s say the electrical vehicle market, I wouldn’t be able to identify the next trend and capture the investment opportunities. Perhaps routines don’t matter for geniuses like Elon but it matters for me.
