Good/Bad Design-Straight lined v no lines/just design wrapping paper to ease the trouble of cutting. Do you use tissue paper, and if so, what color matches the wrapping paper? Economic/Eco-Friendly alternatives of reusable gift bags. Double sided v single sided tape.

Bad Design-Without the continue shopping link the user has to click the back button, questioning if the item put in the cart was saved.
Good Design-The continue shopping link, along with other options, appearing once you add something to your cart. Not only does it ease the shopping experience, but it also serves as affirmation that what you added to your cart was indeed added.

Bad Design-Themed candy packaging that limits use.

Bad Design-The color combination for the Buzz quote is harsh on the eyes and sacrifices readability.
Good Design-The white lettering works best with dark color combinations, adding a pop of color while still legible.

Bad Design-Dci’s colored pencils, though aesthetically pleasing, fail to denote the name of the color on the actual pencil. This design can prove difficult to use for 1 in 12 men/1 in 200 women who are colorblind.
Good Design-Crayola’s colored pencils not only are labeled with the name of the color, but the color is also represented throughout the entirety of the pencil.

Good Design-Shop Disney’s use of a progress bar and calculation of how much more to spend in order to receive free shipping.
Bad Design-Best Buy’s advertisement of free shipping on orders $35 and up on their homepage, but no mention of it at checkout.

Bad Design- The circuit breaker panel for my apartment is located directly behind the master bedroom door. Not only is this an eye sore, but it also takes up wall real estate. Makes for an inconvenience if you don't have access to the master bedroom.
Good Design- Locating a panel behind a closet door in a common space, making it accessible to anyone. Taking up minimal space to allow for multipurpose wall function.

Good Design-Whositswhatsits includes the total next to the amount of items in your shopping cart, eliminating the search for reference. This site also denotes sold out items within the category, rather than on the specific item page.
Bad Design-Cakeworthy does not include a total next to the shopping cart, and requires you to select the item to view inventory. The good design portion of this site is the reference to size availability.

Bad Design-The hard plastic pull tabs used on Tropicana Orange Juice jugs breaks easily, making it difficult to open.
Good Design-A sealed cap or a softer rubbery pull tab found on most milk cartons are effective and durable.

Good Design-Papa John’s Pizza mobile ordering offers pictures and nutritional facts when users are creating their own pizza (breaking down each ingredient and how many calories they contain).
Bad Design-Hungry Howie’s Pizza mobile ordering focuses more on the extra charges than on visuals or nutritional value when creating your own pizza.

Good Design-Bathroom stalls that indicate if the door is locked or unlocked (with the respective colors green for go and red for stop transcending languages). Commonly used for unisex bathrooms to avoid that awkward run in.
Bad Design-Bathroom stalls with the traditional sliding lock feature. it is unclear from an outsiders perspective if the door is locked or unlocked. The slide slides, thus unlocking itself in the process. Risk of exposure is higher, and then there’s the awkward knock and reply scenario.
