Spencer Deer will forever be my favorite concept in the world
Just thinking about how dirty my boy spencer reid was done in his life. All my guy wanted to do was nerd out and be a little bi. And the universe said no you have to go to war. He's better than me I would've become an unsub by like age 10
I think a crucial part of Spencer Reid’s character is that he’s a little bit feminine. He grew up basically only talking to his mom. Most of the men in his life he sees as parental figures (Rossi, Gideon, Hotch). He makes friends with the women on the team a lot quicker than he does the men. His relationship with masculinity is incredibly fragile and we see that clearly with his interactions with Morgan in s1. I think it’s also interesting that Spencer grows his hair out and starts dressing a little more eccentricly around s3-4 when memoriam happens and hes trying to process it (the hair thing is just MGG but shhhh let me theorise). He puts in so much effort to distance himself from the men who have hurt him.
It sorta makes him even more othered from the team because the rest of his team members (for the most part) are a lot less androgynous than him. I dunno it’s just something I appreciate about him
