Talk to the Almighty about what upsets you or about what makes you rejoice.
Dear Reader,
I am wishing you a very joyful celebration of Eid. May you have the most beautiful day filled with happiness, family, smiles and gratitude.
I am praying for you always. May Allah (SWT) bless you, help you overcome any difficulty you might be facing, may He shower you with blessings in this life and the next.
I hope you know that you Lord loves you way more than you could ever love yourself and that if you trust in that with all of your heart you are in the safest hands. May Allah (SWT) take away your worries and replace them with unfailing hope in Him. May He give you and your family nothing but goodness. Ameen.
Know that you are never alone and that the whole ummah is praying for you and your wellbeing. Most importantly, the best Eid present you can give yourself is to fall in love with Allah (SWT) and set yourself free from the shackles of worldly life.
Eid Mubarak my beloved friends!!
Salaam,
She’s Muslim (eat as much cake as you want- it’s EIDDDDDD!!!!)
GRATITUDE
‘If you are grateful, I will increase you’ (Quran 14:7)Â
Sometimes you can go through life focusing on all of your problems and things you want but don’t have and forget about how blessed you are. The fact you are alive, healthy, that you have a place to call home, that you have family and friends for support and other countless blessings God has showered upon you can no longer be ignored.
Just compare your life with someone lower than you. Someone in a third world country, walking miles and miles just for clean water. Someone who has no possessions to their name but still smile. I was blessed to have a personal experience in Jamaica where I volunteered at a primary school and seeing how happy these children were despite the circumstances they have to grow up in brought tears to my eyes. They had nothing- but the joy on their faces illuminated my whole world. Once you reflect on the state of the majority of the world you realise that God has wrapped you up in so much love and luxury that you can’t help but say, ‘alhumdulilah’ (all praise and gratitude belongs to God) even on your worst day.
When something good happens to you, recognise that it is a gift from Allah and thank Allah by using that gift for obedience and to help others. I have realised that although I am super grateful for the gift itself, I love the giver of the gift more and that has always kept me grounded and humble.
I try to recognise every single day how blessed I am to have Allah as a Lord. He has chosen the two main qualities of ‘al Rahman nir Raheem’ to introduce Himself to His creation. He is extremely lovingly merciful and always compassionate. What an amazing God to dedicate your whole life to. How I become more grateful is to reflect on these names and how He is being lovingly merciful and compassionate right now in this moment. Once you do this you realise that you can never truly enumerate and comprehend all of the ways God has been so kind and loving to you. And you feel so special, drowned in Allah’s blessings.
Another beautiful name that has flawed me is that Allah is ‘Lateef.’ He gently delivers the needs of His creation. I think that is so beautiful. Allah knows exactly what you need, and will always provide you with what is best for you in the most beautiful and endearing way.Â
Be grateful for the problems that you thought you couldn’t handle but Allah got you through them and you are a stronger more compassionate person as a result. And know, that just like He did before, He will certainly make a way out for you again.
In a society where you constantly compare yourself with others becoming a person of gratitude is crucial to your mental wellbeing. Recognising the beautiful things God has blessed YOU with will not only do wonders for your personal happiness, but it will make God love you and bless you more and more. As Allah promises in the Quran, ‘if you are grateful, I will increase you.’ So I challenge all of you and myself to say at least three things you are grateful for each day and watch how your mood changes. Show Allah that you are grateful to Him by worship and using your blessings to make a positive impact in the world. Show gratitude to the brilliant people in your life that have helped and supported you along your journey. As my beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ says, ‘He who does not thank the people is not thankful to Allah.’
Never forget to give all of the credit for every achievement in your life to God. He is the Giver of the gift, never lose sight of that.
I pray that Allah blesses you with strong faith, a beautiful life and Jannah (Paradise).
Salaam (peace),
She’s Muslim
INTENTIONS
Prophet Muhammad ï·º said, ‘Actions are by intentions, and for every person is what they intended.’ Since this is my first post, I wish to make clear what my intentions are for this blog. I believe that we are all on a path to God (Allah), all of us experience situations and have thoughts that propel us towards our Creator. All my life I have been writing my thoughts down and never would I have dreamed of sharing them. I didn’t feel worthy, or ‘religious’ enough to be able to impact the Muslim world. This was until I made a muslim friend who was struggling with her faith and came to me for help. I did the best that I could explaining my experiences, thoughts about life and reasons why I love Islam. I even showed her something I had written and she said that it really helped her. I then understood that despite my own flaws, I had a voice that could make a difference and a positive splash in the world.Â
God has given me so many opportunities in my life (I just completed my law degree and got a first- alhumdullilah), and I think the best way to show my gratitude is to use my time and effort to help others on this beautiful path. A path of growth, sweetness and compassion. So my intention for this blog is to publicly record my reflections on life to help and inspire other wandering people searching for their Creator.Â
I need to make it clear that I am not perfect. I make mistakes and by no means do I consider myself better than you. In fact, my intention is to help myself by these posts as much as it is to help other people around the world. I believe that imperfections are what makes us human. We all mess up, have regrets and down days. The important thing is to commit yourself to growth. To being a better person than you were yesterday. So no, I am not perfect. But yes, I am actively working on bettering myself. And hopefully, you will join me on this journey. A journey that leads to the One who created us. Allah. I ask Allah to make my intentions pure, and solely to serve Him. That He is with me every step of the way, and enables this blog to help many.Â
With this post I plant my first seed. I trust Allah that however this blog blossoms it will be according to His plan. I am excited to start this next chapter. In order to keep my intentions sincere I am going to remain anonymous. A muslim Gossip Girl vibe aha. Thanks for reading, more coming soon Insha Allah. Have a lovely rest of your day.Â
Praying for you always!
Salaam (peace),Â
