Salam guys it’s been a while. I saw this app on my phone and decided to check in. IA you’re all doing well. A little update from me:

1) I’m officially a mama to two little ones... Hasan Sajjad (2.5yrs) and Zahra (1 yr next month). My days are so busy but they are everything mA along with my husband

3) I’m trying to find myself again after being consumed by motherhood the last few years. I’m trying to carve out what I want the next 5 years to look like and I’m trying to let go of things that aren’t that important

3. my question: is that not an act of arrogance delaying someone with good qualities for not wearing the hijab?

Salam,

I am so sorry you had to go through this. In my opinion though, this man had no intention of pursuing marriage with you and may have simple been “passing time” until he found what he was looking for. Your value is much more than this. The hijab thing may have just been his excuse, and I wouldn’t give it much weight when you are trying to justify his actions.

In my opinion, Allah SWT saved you from someone whose intentions were not pure. Do not despair about not finding a husband, Allah SWT is the greatest of providers. Cling to the rope of Allah SWT and He will bring you to that which you can’t even imagine.

My humble advice to you sister, is to look for someone who is willing to do things properly and not through secret contracts. A true follower of the Ahlulbayt (as) would honour you through speaking to your parents, and proceeding openly. Don’t sell yourself short for people who do not know your value.

2. I truly feel offended since he always told me that he is okay with it that I don’t wear the hijab as long I’m not wearing short or too tight clothes (and I’m truly don’t wear such things) and as long I’m aware of my social hijab that will be okay for him. He always praised me for my Akhlaq, Iman and Character and That I hold Islam so close to my heart. It truly makes me sad and I’m afraid I will never find a husband.

1. Salam sister, I met a Shia brother few months before and he was a great guy (I thought). He was a religious person and someone who loved the Ahlulbayt really much. But he quit the contact suddenly out of nowhere and without a reason. Recently I found out that he was talking to another woman after we have met. And he chose her over me because I’m not wearing hijab. But the other woman actually wears it.

Sure my son wakes me up at 5 am but he will also stop playing with his cars, walk across the room to me, and kiss my knee randomly, so yeah I would die for him.

I don't want to hurt my family. Because Islam emphasizes the importance of manners and good relationship with the family. Could you please spare some of your precious time to make a small dua for me, I am in need of prayers. Thank you very much !

Anon, I’m so sorry you are going through this. It really is not easy.

I know there is not much I can do and my answer would vary depending on your age but.... at the end of the day you need to know that coming towards the truth is not going to be easy at all. I’m so glad you know islam is the truth, and if you have really done your best to explain to your family, then you need to know that Allah SWT says you must RESPECT your family, but you must DISOBEY them if they take you away from HIM. So you have to do your best to keep your relationship, but at the same time your belief and following the religion comes first.

There was a long time after I converted that I didn’t speak with my family. Months and months. I even moved and stayed with a friend. I’m not going to sugar coat how hard it can get. But iA, with duas and striving for the truth on Allah’s path, He will make it easy.

In surah al-Hajj, verses 58-59, Allah SWT says “And those who migrate in the cause of Allah and are then slain or die, certainly will Allah provide them with a goodly sustenance, and verily Allah is the best of providers. Certainly He will admit them into a place of entrance which they shall be well pleased with; and verily Allah is All-Knowing, Most Forbearing.”

Basically, this verse is saying that an immigration, which is done for a certain goal and a good purpose, is a value. The death of the emigrant persons is a kind of martyrdom. Death or martyrdom is not a matter of significance, what is important is that the one is on the path of Allah.

In the former holy verses, the Qur’an spoke about some emigrants whom were sent out from their home and houses because of the name of Allah and that they supported the Divine religion. Now, in this verse, they are considered as an excellent group.

So take refuge in knowing that Allah SWT knows all you are giving up. He knows that when you leave the path of falsehood and come towards Him, you deserve the greatest of rewards. My duas are with you ❤️
