It is with heavy heart that...

I think it’s been obvious for quite some time now that I’ve not even been remotely active in the K8 fandom. I thought I’d be a lifelong fan and I will always love them, but I’m much older now (I’ve been a fan since before their debut!), and my priorities are entirely different.

That being said, I think it’s about time that I also let a few of my collectibles go because they deserve to go to lovely fans who will cherish them as much as I have. I take exceptionally good care of my K8 merchandise.

If you’re interested in buying, please leave me a message in my ASK box or answer the question at the end of this post. It’s only open for a short time because I’m actually moving mid-August, so I don’t have a lot of time. If there’s enough interest generated, I’ll make a post of all the items that I’m willing to let go as well as their prices.

I have the following in case you’re wondering: most of the big 3 idol magazines (Wink Up, POTATO, Duet) from 2008-2009, 8EST merchandise like the canvas bag and music box, Eight Ranger light stick, MINT 1st press versions of their Kan Fuu Fighting single WITH COLOUR STRAPS!, 1st press Hesomagari, 2006-2011 albums, and a ton of shop pictures.

Remember that Ryo is Do-M (ドM). I was going to do a post about the 400th SP episodes, but I don’t think it’s really necessary. A lot of what goes on is self-explanatory. I just had to post this because it’s funny and we all know that Ryo’s really just enjoying himself being locked up. He acted as a thief in a period drama saying, “Master, I stole one or two manjuu” but he couldn’t think of what else to say and gave up.

I am, however, working on the April 1 episode with Tendou Yoshimi. No, I’m not back for good, but I found a bit of spare time to do that particular episode. Thanks for sticking with me despite the long breaks in between posts. You all are amazing.

We were supposed to be working hard side-by-side, but I was quite surprised and shocked by how things changed our positions and I really hated realizing the feeling that I'd lost (failed to debut, remained a Junior).

Something that Sho-kun said saved Toma.

15:30-15:47

At ARASHI's first concert, at the end, Sho-kun said, "I'm thankful to all of the fans and all of the Jyannis Juniors." I thought that Sakurai Sho was really cool.

[Sho-kun cries a teeny bit]

15:54-16:14

"To the fans who have followed us until now, many of our friends, and all of the Jyannis Juniors who worked hard with us, thank you. Please cheer us on in the future! Ciao ciao."

16:24-16:40

After that, Sho-kun came over and put his arm around my shoulders and whispered, "Toma, thank you so much." I was so happy (to hear him say that). And it's not just because this is Sho-kun's show (that I'm telling this story), but really, I'm very grateful to Sho-kun.

Cameraman says that he's pretty passionate about this story and Toma explains that the alcohol probably has made it easier for him to talk.

I think what's important to note, and what sadly gets lost in translation, is how the Japanese language incorporates the notion of gratefulness when modifying the conjugation of verbs. Toma says "言ってくれた ittekureta" for "(he) said" but the "kureta" part is actually what signifies that he's thankful to Sho-kun for recognizing Toma's own struggle with not being able to debut even though they'd all been Juniors together. I know I haven't translated in so long and in many ways I'm very much out of the fandom, but every now and then, I get pulled in. I'd do a summary of the entire episode, but I'm afraid I don't have that much time.

I translated a tiny section of the interview because it's too funny to ignore.

Talking about the fifteenth anniversary of their debut single (November 3, 1999)

For the anniversary of their debut single, Arashi treated all of the Jyannis kouhai who’ve supported them since debut [A/N: Toma was there for sure! He said so]. Aiba starts going into more detail about that night and accidentally names Matsujun as he’d been referring to individual Arashi members by their initials (although earlier in the show, all of the hosts said that if he used initials, viewers would know right away who they’re talking about) so he “corrects” himself.

A: I was sitting with M.J. and all of the others like this (makes a circle with his hand) but like that (points to table for two on the opposite side of the set).

Hosts: Eh? Like that?

A: And we were drinking like that in the second half (of the get-together).

Horichan: Just M.J. and you?

A: I don’t know what we were talking about, but we were sobbing. [the way Aiba describes it doesn’t specifically tell who cried at the time]

Ueda-san: Who was crying?

A: Both of us.

Arita-san: If you cried that much, wouldn’t you definitely remember?!

A: I don’t know what moved either of us so much but we cried and at the end, maybe we kissed.

(everyone promptly freaks out)

A: But why we cried, I don’t remember at all!

Ueda-san: A-kun and M.J. kissed?

A: Uh, it’s a bit scary just saying that.

Ueda-san: But you don’t know why. It might have been “We’ve been working hard as Arashi!” but in actuality, was “I like you.”

A: That’s not it. It’s not that.

HAHAHA. I love when Shabekuri members grill the guest. Aiba is so cute.

Yoko: You don't need to go that much into detail. We don't need that information about a gross recorder.

And this is how they end up completely straying from talking about how their 10th anniversary is coming up.

Kanjani 8 to sing the cheer song for this summer's 2014 koushien!

Teichiku just posted today (or yesterday, Japan time) that K8 will have the honour of singing this year's "2014 ABC high school baseball cheer song" for koushien (Japan's national high school baseball tournament that happens every summer). The company is also taking submissions for song lyrics from high school students all over Japan and will even audition for school band players when they perform this new song.

I know this news doesn't apply to many of us since most of us are foreign fans and/or past high school age, but it's an honour considering just how serious people take koushien in Japan. You also have to love how they want to collaborate with students to make the song that much more precious to those who hear it and see them perform.
