The Boys are Back in Town
Ellis was taking a nap, he’d helped so much during their first night, but likely spent most of it watching Melody, so he was exhausted. She’d just put Melody in her bassinet in the living room, so she could make herself some lunch, when the doorbell rang. She’d expected it to be Sterling, any excuse to hold a baby.
But when she’d picked up the tablet to check the video feed, and saw Charlie, the redhead rushed best she could to the door and unlocked it, throwing the door open, “Charlie!”
"Pen! Hey," he shifted Forrest and hugged her, "It's so good to see you again! And you must have had your baby, I mean...you were barely pregnant when we left, and you're back to being tiny and adorable again, so that's something. And Dean here is....7 and this one," he shifted Forrest again, "Can walk and talk and talk and talk...well, do pretty much what I'm doing."
He took a deep breath and smiled at her, "Sorry, I should shut up, but it's really good to see you and be back in New York. I know that this is the worst possible time to just show up out of nowhere, because you have a newborn, but...our apartment won't be ready for two days and we're currently homeless, is there any way I can impose on you to put us up for a bit?"
