“Far more zan I sought vould show up to somesing like zis.” Kurt responded to the woman before he turned his attention to her and took the water she offered with a gentle smile. As he brought the bottle to his lips and drank, he listened to her speak. When she shifted her eyes, however, something in his gut churned and he just knew who he was speaking with. Sure, changing eye colors wasn’t exactly a dead give away, but as she she mentioned she wasn’t ‘planning anything’ it only cemented his gut instinct.
“Rafen…” He stated the name quietly, glancing around before lightly taking her arm and leading them to a little quieter spot away from the brunt of the crowd. “I.. am only going out as God intended for me to be. I haf spent too much time hiding myself for ze comfort of ozers - and somesing like zis varrants being truthful and honest.” He explained.
“Vy are you here?” He asked her bluntly. It was no secret that Raven and her children had a rather… complicated history and relationship.
She does smile when he says her name, though it’s hard to tell what the smile means with her. Of course, as he speaks, the words run deep in her. Despite everything, a wave of pride wells inside her chest hearing what he has to say. Sure, she’s never been the religious type, but the core of what he says are values she’d hoped her children would hold close.
“You’re strong, Kurt,” she says simply, smile softening as she pauses a moment to consider him, “Do be careful if things go south?” She doesn’t pretend that any love would be met in kind by him. Such things had been sacrificed long ago, so she doesn’t go any further down that road, “Irene’s returned,” as if she’d gone out for a stroll, not been dead for decades, “I couldn’t stay away. This is quite a scene to come into town to, though. Does this happen often? Or is Magneto somewhere happily brooding about the chaos?”
