with hands curled into tightly balled fists and shoulders hunched down, causing the lights of the hallway to cast shadows along his face. both hiding and emphasizing the purpling bruise that was blooming around his eye like some kind of painfully harsh flower. it was his own damn fault, it was a cheap shot. one he normally would have blocked but he was sloppy tonight. distracted. which was probably why he didn’t even notice the other body cohabiting in the same hall as he struggled through the aches that traveled deep in his body almost to his bones to dig through his bag to retrieve the keys he’d tossed in earlier.
