I’m not the original source for most of these. Please don’t credit me for any finds.
I repost them here to have them available on tumblr, and because I love to catalogue rumors and leaks. :)
I also do my best to verify the veracity of the posts! If one of them turns out to be fake, i’ll either delete it or add a mention to it on the original post.
Hey there, same person as before , have a couple of more questions and opinions I wanna share
-After looking at the gen 3 sprites , was it possible that the Poochy Pokémon would evolve into the 2 other dogs found in the sheet based on its in game gender ? Ally (the primarinna lookalike) is very clearly a dog based on her collar and paws and Eidog is just a dog. This may be a bit far fetched since they’re quite far in the Pokédex but the Seedot and Breeloom evolution are quite far as well
- Was it confirmed that the scrapped Scraggy was the fossilmon of the gen that evolved into Archon?
-I’ve been wondering about something, was the scrapped 3 staged sea Snail line supposed to be the water starter for the region? I does match a bit with oshawott’s shell motif and the final stage also fights with a shell similar to samurott ?
- Could the scrapped electric mythical from Kalos be Zeraora? Thinking about it both it and zygarde had more of an importance on Gen 7 , and we know that Pokémon Z would’ve had zygarde complete in it. And Zera maybe is supposed to be Rattatoskr
And I’ll end it with an opinion, man , I wish whoever drew those gritty designs got to direct a game of their own, they look so much like concept art for a late ps1 obscure JRPG , and they also must be working at game freak still because the concept art for N also resembles them, maybe during the Gear Project years we could’ve gotten it, but oh well
Welcome back dear anon! I’ll do my best to answer all your questions!
I’ll put it all under a read more to save everyone’s feeds!
1. By Poochy, Ally and Eidog, I believe you mean these three?
There could be a chance of all of them being related? But their dex position seems to point to the contrary. Ally (also known as Arei) was earlier in the Pokédex, and Eidog was way later. Maybe at some point they were from the same line, but i couldn’t really see it. They are so different from one another!
I had a spreadsheet, but seems like it was taken down. So instread, here’s this picture. It’s all i have and it’s really not up to date… ^^’ things have really moved since then
(Also, for a sec, when I read Poochy, I thought this was about the character from the fighting game Power Instinct ^^’… I’ve been way too much into fighting games lately!)
2. Signs point to yes! If you refer to the picture above, you can see they are right next to eachothers, as number 396 and 397! They are also pretty much the only ones with a bold color palette like this, so i’d day yes, the old scraggy-like pokémon evolves into the blue proto-grovyle! I can’t say for sure if it was a fossilmon, but i could very well see it as that!
3. That was one of the lines of Pokémon that slipped by when I started posting… I was sure I saved / Posted these guys, but I guess I forgot!
As for their status, I would have to reconfirm. A lot of information came out all at once and it was hard to track. I know there was a few waves of gen 5 beta content. From what I’m aware, there was sprites for the oshawott line in the leaks, but they were already pretty much fully formed. I’m not sure if he coexisted with the sea snail pokémon. I’m sure once this blows over, people will have everything in order and i’ll have an answer to give you. They do look like starters tho so i’ll give you that!
I’ll give you this as an apology for my lack of answer, some tepig line beta sprites that i, ALSO, didn’t post! ^^’
4. It’s all speculations, but I tend to ascribe to this theory, that Zeraora was the scrapped electric mythical. It would fit in the lore built around the legendaries of Kalos. Also, an interesting bit someone pointed out to me is that Zeraora starts with a Z, and ends with an A. Brings it back together i guess. And maybe it’ll show up in Legends Z-A because of that.
I also think that its inclusion in Alola was random. Ik it’s the case for all mythicals, but come on. They just distributed this thing and went home. Zarude had more of a story going. (Love Zarude btw). And considering Alola ALSO was the region stuck with the whole “100 zygarde cells” thing, i could see Zeraora being pasted on there as to not waste it i guess.
Kalos as a region is. Full of disappointments. Things were set up, and abandonned. Never elaborated upon. That of they were rushed.
Injecting my own opinion here, those who know me know that I make no secret of my dislike for Kalos. When I play those games, I feel nothing. I felt nothing back when I played them at 14. Actually no, i was pissed off that the cover of X lied to me by telling me Xerneas was gonna be this cool rainbow deer, but it was actually just Dogwater Blue, and I had to use Geomancy for it to be cool. But besides that, i felt nothing. I’ve played Pokémon games for all my life. I was barely out of the womb that my older sister would put her Pokémon toys on me so I’d learn their name. I felt something with every game I played except XY.
I hope Z-A can be some sort of course correction for this generation. At least make everything make sense.
I also dislike Kalos because I’m a native french speaker. And the way they use french pisses me off. Why is there a trainer named “Chaise” (literally chair). Why is there a road named Brun Way (brown way. Ew??). Im so glad theres a street called Avance Trail. Derrière way. Vallée étroite way. Dear god this pisses me off. And iirc they don’t do this shit with ANY other games so WHY HERE. GSJFBDJDBFKFN.
Sorry about that… I tend to get heated when talking about those games ^^’. Anyways back on track!
As for your thoughts on the gen 3 concept art, people have speculated that it was done by Okutani Jun. He mostly did work on Pokémon games, but he did also do concept art for Xenoblade Chronicles, Mystic Arc, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles - Rings of fate and Magatama according to Moby Games. Though i’ve seen your feelings shared across other users in the tags of that post: the public demands a PSX JRPG!
Anon! I have some answers about the sea snail pokémon line!
Their position in the dex seems to indicate that it was NOT going to be a line for a water type starter. Actually, in the build they were found in, we did have one Samurott back sprite (and nothing else for the Oshawott line unfortunately). They were in the dex position of the Tympole line!
Seems like they were eventually replaced by the Tympole line! It’s a pretty stark difference in animals and appearance haha!
Same person again, and no you are absolutely right about Kalos and you should speak your truth, I remember it so vividly when I was 13 and the first trailer for it got released , I think time has forgotten HOW rabid everyone went for that trailer, microanalising every single frame of it, and making memes that finally Pokemon was going to be so so awesome in 3D , it’s one of those “you had to be there” type of moment . But oh boy the dissapointment I felt on release day, back then I didn’t have the words to explain why but looking back, these games were just, nothing. It genuinely was so bad that I was off put by Pokémon up until Gen 9, and even going back and replaying it plus the regions I missed , to this day as an adult I feel nothing towards Kalos , because I can see even clearly now the flaws of it. The story, the gameplay, the world , everything (minus the Pokémon themselves and Pokémon Amie )
Sorry for that rant as well, Gen 6 is… surely something eh
Finally someone understands!! I wasn't there for a majority of the discussion pre-release (and even post-release), since I had super limited access to the internet until I was about 16-17. But I was so hype when I got this game, and I ended up kind of disappointed but i didn't know why? Didn't have the words either back then, but now I do.
I think most of the people who really are ride or die with XY are the people who really loved that phase of the anime, or people who had XY as their first game. That's the pattern i've seen among my friends, and among online discussion, though i'm sure there are people out there who really love XY who fit neither of those categories. And if you like XY, no shade to you. I respect that. Live your life to its fullest, i'm glad there are some out there who love those games a lot.
But for me, the disappointment of Xerneas being stuck in this boring blue most of the time, the disappontment of my starter (chesnaught) not being able to mega evolve (and then having salt rubbed in the wound with greninja getting a new form in Alola, ik it's anime related but cmon), along with everything else, it stayed with me. I spent most of my time in Kalos gambling away by wonder trading.
Oh yeah and I also remember that bug that had Pokémon appear as grayscale around launch, that had people thinking if monochromatic Pokémon were a new, rarer than shinies variant.
There was also that glitched up Litleo too. That one was funny.
That and how you couldn't save in Lumiose City at launch, otherwise it'd basically ruin your save file. And how Nintendo literally released a map to show you where not to save before they put out a patch.
This isn't to say "Kalos bad because glitches", just that to me, someone really invested in glitches and oddities, those really stuck out to me :P
Anyways, I asked some friends a while back, what Pokémon game they'd rather play out of all of them, and I know this isn't really conclusive evidence, but usually the answers I got were ORAS if they wanted a game with mega evos, or USUM. And that tracks with my own thoughts as well (tho I mostly prefer to play base SuMo haha). Curious to know if others feel this way as well.
I think I also feel a bigger kinship towards SuMo because that's the first Pokémon gen I actually got to keep up with pre-release (anyone remember when they'd show new pokémon weekly?? I started college at that time, I remember watching them as they dropped, sometimes in class, sometimes with friends. I remember when Primarina, who had been leaked prior, was revealed. I was so happy ;w;)
Also, while I’m here, I would like to shout out a project I’ve been supporting on Patreon for a while. It’s a new Pokémon wiki / encyclopedia called Pokéos.
They are a Pokémon wiki that attempts to cover as many parts of the franchise as possible, from the games to the TCG to the anime.
However, what makes the difference in my eyes is their additional features.
All of the information you might want to find on a Pokémon’s profile is easily accessible and shown in a clear way, which is something I struggled with on other websites. But ALSO, my favorite thing mostly is, all of the additional contents. At the bottom of the page, you can see a lot of the art done for that pokémon, along with all of the forms it has ever had, including anime-exclusive forms, or the Stadium 2 color palettes! All done in the style of the render for Pokémon Home! It also includes all the beta content found for that Pokémon like sprites!
Check out Charizard for example! The early generation Pokémon are a great showcase of this!
Another really great feature of the website is the Forgottendex, which showcases all the Pokémon oddities, in the style of the Home renders! This includes stuff like that mongoose from the first season of the anime, the ghost of the Lavender Town tower, that weird squid thing from the manga, and more!
There is also a great feature for artists that allows you to host your very own fan-made Pokédex with your own Fakémon!
And that’s not even including all of the tools like the Dex tracker, the Shiny counter, the Team builder, the list of serial codes and events running right now, and everything else coming soon!
The only downside I’d mention is the loading times. The website seems to rely a lot on fetching things from an API, which can make loading take longer. Also, some of the CSS effects can take a toll on older devices, so i’s recommend turning off the visual effects in the footer.
I’m not being paid to share all of this, i’m just very satisfied with this website after supporting it for a while now, and I feel like a lot of people would really enjoy it! Especially those of us who, like me, LOVE the obscure stuff of the franchise (i’m obsessed with the Stadium 2 color palettes and weird little oddities haha!)

Sorry to ask but is there any info or consensus from the leaks on what the insane dog design became? I love him a lot. I’m thinking maybe either poochyeanna or electrikke?
Hello! Don’t apologize for asking, i’m always happy to answer!
I’m assuming you’re talking about the blue neuron-looking dog.
As far as we are aware, it was its own entity. If we base ourselves on the fact that sprites for it and a baby form was supposedly found in a late beta (or maybe it was sprites found in an ORAS build, i can’t quire recall), then we can safely assume it was its own thing.
I can’t say about Poochyena, we haven’t really found any beta origins for it, and besides the fact they are both canine, i can’t really see this dog being its origibs. But what I can say is that Electrike existed after, or maybe alongside it. In fact, Manectric might have had a lost evolution, as this star shaped lion-dog thing was right after Manectric in the dex, and it seems to have similar traits to the line!
Perhaps they took some inspo for Electrike / Manectric. But there’s no real answer to that. The most realistic answer to that would be that, it was left on the cutting room floor, archived to possibly be re-used in the future, much like other concepts. Especially with the sprites being found later on.
