Words for Wednesday
::Sfgirlbythebay::
These words remind me of one of my favorite quotes from the show How to Make it America....ironically, the show did not make it and got canceled from HBO last year. Nonetheless, Nancy, the head of an apparel agency makes the statement to the main character Ben, "Popping goods on a Sunday?" after he unexpectedly pulls out his newly designed Vintage Tee collection under the label Crisp at her Sunday Brunch. He replies quite nonchalantly, "Can't knock the hustle."
That line gets me every time. I absolutely love it because for someone who is just starting out in their business, I think they would agree that this is the mentality every day. It's pretty much the main driving force behind your motivation, but when you do what you love, hustle is what you got. And so I agree...Can't knock the hustle. Cheers.
Parisian Punkette.
The Parisian designer Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit at the de Young Museum in San Francisco just came to a grand finale, and I am so thankful I was able to see the exhibit before the farewell. Without a doubt, this was fashion defined by a Parisian Punk. The mannequins or punkette's were adorned with fabrics and textures that were worth staring at and for my self ones that I could not help to be inspired by. So here it is: the few shots I was able to take of the Man repelling outfits designed by Jean Paul Gaultier. Enjoy and be inspired. Voila.

I do.
Designing and crafting a custom made ring for a special couple makes my job ever more satisfying. I met Ashley and Jason at a going away happy hour at Americano in San Francisco. We were bidding our farewells to Kirk from wearitbothways where Ashley and I got to talking about how we knew Kirk. She noticed my Sethi Couture pendant while she mentioned she was getting married in only a few months and had not been able to find a wedding ring that matched her aesthetic. After sharing many other interests (we both previously worked for Gap corporate and both had received degrees from U.C. Berkeley), we exchanged contacts.
Ashley and I connected again after she mentioned she had taken a look at our website and found many things she liked....and so our little journey began in making the perfect wedding ring. We met at the jewelry gallery Zaver & Mor in Berkeley and started mixing and matching different rings to her current engagement band. I knew she had a unique taste as she unconventionally wore a wedding band for her engagement ring rather than your classic solitaire. After many meetings and falling in love with an opaque rose cut diamond ring, we began the search for a perfect stone that met all her needs: tasteful, understated beauty, and something completely special.
We designed the ring to sit flush against the wedding band. Once the the wax mold was created sitting perfectly against the wedding band, the ring was casted in gold.
And Voila, the final product: brownish yellow opaque rose cut diamond, accented with champagne diamond melees, set in white gold.
The bride to be the day before her wedding admiring her beautiful wedding gown.
Ta da...officially a "Mrs." Congratulations Ashley and Jason. I could not have been happier to be part of this wonderful process.
xoxo.

cinco de mayo
The eve before cinco de mayo, I was feeling quite colorful...it may just be me but Cinco de Mayo is one of those holidays that make me want to wear sunkist orange, fire engine red, kelly green, cobalt blue, and of course sunshine yellow all in one outfit. Is that possible? I guess we will find out tomorrow ;) !
Today, I was feeling especially bright as I took shots of these colorful gem stone silver beads by Manak Jewels. I was tempted to sing La Cucaracha, La Cucaracha in my cinco de mayo mood, which I realize is completely inappropriate but it is quite catchy you have to admit. Each of these beads is encrusted with either multicolor sapphires, emeralds, amethysts, garnets, aquamarines, or citrine and bursting with my favorite thing: COLOR. In the age of colored denim, neon nail polish, I think these yummy beads fit the times: eccentric and bold, why not a DIY necklace? i think so.
For questions on these luscious silver beads, email [email protected].
Not to be F****ed With. Loving this combo...tough and soft all at the same time. #sethicouture #annashefield.

The emerald collection is in the works. New pieces will be crafted just in time for las Vegas!
new kid on the block
My alma mater has a new store in town Zaver & Mor. And little do they know that the owner of this gem of a shop is a very good friend of mine.
Rada, as we call her, just opened a gallery, skillfully curated with fine jewelry and soon to come artful objects in North Berkeley on Vine Street . The store's namesake is of indian origin. Zaver pronounced: za•ver [zey – vuhr] means ornament or jewels while Mor pronounced mor [morh] means peacock and with a play on words is “more.” And so we have it Zaver & Mor.
The gallery houses works that are filled with inspiration and ultimately packaged with a motto of do what you love, for all the artists she carries are doing what they love as is she. To name a few of the artists and describe their work: Sarah Swell, Rebecca Overmann, Marcella Bernstein share their works of finely crafted pieces using sterling, while Sethi Couture carries an eclectic collection of 18 karat yellow gold and white gold as well as an exclusive group of moonstone pieces in silver. Most of the artists are based out of California and were able to attend the grand opening over the weekend adding an intimate environment at the gallery.
Check out her store on Vine street and stop by and say hello. She will not only give you a warm welcome but also have a cup of tea with you and may be even a glass of champagne. Cheers!
The beautiful store front. Bell jars displaying Rebecca Overmann, Sethi Couture, and Sarah Swell and peacock feathers laying on the stones.
