Okay so like I love xerneas? What’s not to love? It’s a beautiful fairy deer! ;( When XY came out, choosing X was a no-brainer for me as soon as I saw that majestic beast. (Sorry, yveltal...)

Since it was, of course, shiny locked in X, the only way I could see the shiny was to look it up online. ...Which was extremely depressing, seeing such a gorgeous shiny that I could never get...

When USUM came out, I was thrilled to learn that the ultra beasts were no longer locked, sure. But I was even MORE thrilled that xerneas and yveltal were finally available for shiny hunting!!

The moment I got my poipole, and as soon as I was ready, I set out to find xerneas. The wormholes were semi-cooperative, thankfully, and I got to it pretty fast.

Unfortunately things got pretty busy around this time, so I wasn’t able to hunt as much as I wanted to. Plus I was pretty certain this would be another over-odds hunt, since I wanted xerneas so bad.

All it took was 289 SRs and there she was.

I couldn’t even believe it. She was just so beautiful, and I was so in shock... I seriously couldn’t believe my luck. She’s absolutely perfect and I’m so happy she showed up so fast (well, in terms of SRs at least). And on top of that, I got her in a premier ball AND my synch worked! Just... what even is anything. She is the best and I love her.

When I was playing through Ultra Moon, I wasn’t expecting poipole to be plopped in my lap when it was. I was completely unprepared and the last time I had saved was several hours ago, so I could have gone all the way back, but that didn’t sound entirely appealing.

Thankfully i had Ultra Sun to get another one! So I sped through it as fast as I could, and this time, I was ready to hunt poipole.

At this point I did have a shiny charm, but it really doesn’t matter. The shiny charm has no effect on gifted pokemon (such as poipole and type:null). Synchronizers, however, DO have an effect, so I set out with a modest synch and hoped for the best.

To my surprise, after only 1425 SRs, I received a beautiful shiny poipole! I couldn’t believe how fast that was for full odds! And even more awesome, my synch worked!

I had honestly forgotten what poipole evolved into at that point. So when Calli finally evolved, I was stunned. She goes from a cute little bobblehead to a terrifying wasp.

And I love it.

After I caught Ariane, I was relieved to be done with the Ultra Moon beasts... until I realized, “Oh crap, I forgot nihilego!” It’s not that it’s a forgettable pokemon or anything, I just completely forgot it was available in the wormholes. So once again, I went back.

It took ages to find the right wormhole. Geez. I kept getting dumped in the desert and the power plant. Wasn’t the deep sea supposed to be the most common one? Anyway, after like an hour and a half, I finally found a deep sea wormhole and started the hunt.

To my surprise, I got this lovely shiny jellyfish in only 991 SRs! I actually really like this shiny--it’s just so bright and lovely! Sadly my synch failed this time, but I can hardly complain since she showed up so fast!

I also love celesteela. It’s a freakin’ rocket pokemon, which is extremely relevant to my interests. So when I finally arrived at the ultra crater, I couldn’t have been more excited!

Unfortunately, as many a shiny hunter knows, the more badly you want a shiny, the more stubborn it will be. She took a whopping 4966 SRs, which is pretty awful for a shiny charm. But when she showed up, it was all worth it! Not only did I manage to catch her in a premier ball, but my synch worked! She actually got a modest nature and I’m SO happy with her! <3

This shiny is also blindingly white. I tried so hard to get not-terrible pictures of her and I couldn’t do it. I’m sorry. :’(

Guzzlord freaks me out. Probably because it reminds me of a nightmare I had a long time ago. But still, when I saw the super-special-sparkly white wormhole pop up, I knew I had to do it.

This hunt took me a long time to finish because not long after I started it, I ended up moving for my dream job! But if I was able to do it consecutively, it wouldn’t have taken all that long--2495 SRs, which is a little above average for a shiny charm, but altogether not bad.

This shiny is blindingly white. And goodness, those teeth are... prominent.

After the incredibly long hunt that was Bayonetta, and not wanting to put myself through that nonsense again, I caved in and got myself a shiny charm before setting off on my next hunt.

Although I really wanted to hunt celesteela, I decided to go ahead and hunt whichever beast I ran into first, which ended up being xurkitree. Even with the shiny charm, I was still nervous about about it taking ages.

Guess how long this one took.

30 SRs.

That’s one good shiny charm.

I love pheromosa. It’s the most beautiful cockroach to ever exist. And I knew I needed a shiny one. The moment I finished with my stakataka hunt, I jumped straight into the ultra wormhole and kept going until I finally got to the ultra desert.

Unfortunately, she proved to be quite elusive. This hunt took a whopping 9323 SRs.

I named her after Bayonetta, my favorite kickass female character~ I think it’s pretty appropriate for a beautiful, tall, long-”haired”, let-her-kicks-do-the-talking kinda pokemon.

I picked up Ultra Moon because I really enjoyed Moon and I was more than happy to revisit Alola. I was interested to see how the story differed, as well as what the few new pokemon were like.

And then I discovered that the ultra beasts were no longer shiny locked.

Prepare to see a whole lotta shiny beasts.

This was a bit of an unusual hunt--stakataka actually “wanders” in a specific area, so you have to run around in the grass until you encounter it. Thankfully, though, it stays in the same area, so it’s not a true wanderer in the sense that it bounces around the whole freaking region. You can run around in the grass until you encounter it, and if it’s not shiny, soft reset. It’s unusual, but pretty easy! (You can also do the runaway method, I hear, but SRing is quicker.)

The pokemon itself is also pretty weird. It looks like sentient Legos. I don’t know about you, but that terrifies me.

Anyway, even though I went into this without a shiny charm, this guy only took 2384 SRs to show up! I was expecting a lot worse, so I’m happy with this! I didn’t even use a synch, so the fact that he ended up with a great nature on top of that is an awesome bonus.

I’ve had a shiny goodra on the back of my mind for quite a while, but was unsure if I really wanted to do it--especially after the Croissant fiasco. I really didn’t want to do any more 10240s.

However, I took a nice long break from breeding after Pookers, and before you know it, I had the itch to breed again. And I decided, what the heck... I’ll do it. I’ll breed a shiny goomy.

Surprisingly, I got a really great goomy to breed from the GTS, of all places. HA, good IVs, and a nice ball to boot! Encouraged, I set out to breed right away.

To my delight, this little cutie took only 117 eggs. And he had the HA. Aww yeah.

After I finally hatched my shiny litten, I started on my next project: shiny pyukumuku! I love pyuk, okay? It’s a sea cucumber. And the shiny looks like an actual cucumber.

This was quite a process to start. I wanted to try for an HA pyuk, which unfortunately is quite difficult. I used a skill swap gardevoir to check the abilities each time, then ended up getting injured every time the dang thing had innards out. Thankfully the chain to get the HA one wasn’t terribly long; I think it was less than 15. And I managed to catch it in a moon ball, which was a nice bonus!

As I was hatching the 243rd egg, I had gotten up to go get more water. I didn’t see it actually hatch--and when I came back, I was surprised to see none other than a shiny pyuk! Because of course the shiny would hatch the moment I got up. That’s why the actual hatch screen picture is missing. :( But anyway, I was even more surprised to see that the HA actually worked! All that setup was completely worth it!

I started this project during a pretty busy time, which is why it went on for as long as it did. This boy hatched in 448 eggs, which really isn’t too terrible. It was just interspersed between craziness.

I chose incineroar for Q for two reasons:

1. He loves cats, obviously.

2. One of his punishments involved him entering a wrestling match... dressed as Peter Pan.

Plus, this would be a perfect way to finish my Alolan starter trio!

And with this lovely shiny, my Impractical Jokers team is finally finished! What started as a whim turned into a full-on team project. I’m excited to try them out; I think they’ll be pretty great!

This was a pretty obvious choice for Joe--how else could you say no to those big blue eyes!? Besides, I needed an Alolan raichu to go along with my other shiny raichu! Actually, she was a big help with this project--I used her to breed an Alolan pichu, and from there I started shiny breeding :) The only reason I didn’t use her as the actual parent is because I wanted this raichu to be timid instead of modest, and unfortunately I don’t have any modest dittos. But I’m glad she still got to be a part of it!

...And just like with Alrai, I completely forgot to take the pikachu pictures...

This was a pretty obvious choice for Murr. After all, he said he’s embraced his inner ferret! Besides, furret’s adorable and I’ve always wanted to raise one. I even managed to transfer a love ball sentret from HG just for this! And to make matters even better, it only took 174 eggs! I decided to breed reversal on him, hoping that it would come in handy. I’m really happy with my cutie new furret!

Anyway, I LOVE tsareena! I love how she’s supposed to look like a sweet dessert, but her face says, “Try to eat me. I dare you.” And the shiny is gorgeous!

For this one, I wanted to breed a timid comfey to make it plenty fast. Funnily enough, she hatched in the same way! This adorable girl hatched in only 42 eggs! I was pretty surprised to see the little blue lei fairy so quickly.

Realizing that my cute Unova starter set was incomplete, I decided to go ahead and breed for a shiny tepig. Truth be told, tepig is one of my least favorite starters. But geez, shiny emboar looks so awesome.

He took 511 eggs to hatch, which I thought was funny--he was just BARELY under odds. I intended for him to have the HA, but of course that failed. But oh well, I’ll work with him anyway!

My goal for this one was to hatch a hidden ability rockruff. Easy enough, right?

Well, this ended up being a pretty weird hunt. I hatched a shiny rockruff in only 6 eggs. 6. Unfortunately, she did not have the HA, so I decided to keep breeding. I still wanted to keep her, though, since I figured I could evolve her into the day form. So I named her Luna and kept going.

Five eggs later, I hatched a second shiny rockruff. After a total of only 11 eggs.

But that one didn’t have the HA either, so I kept going.

Hatched a third shiny rockruff on egg #519. Still no HA.

FINALLY, after a total of 640 eggs, I got my HA shiny rockruff! These little buggers hatch pretty fast, though, so it really didn’t take me very long to get him. Still, weird that I flew through four shinies in the span of one day, especially since it was breeding!
