Inktober 30 + 31

We did it!!! I did a cupcake for the last one as a “hooray, you finished your first Inktober in its entirety”! I’m so proud I managed to make 31 small drawings in one month :D And I learned a lot, there’s so much I can do as long as I don’t listen to the demons in my head. Perfectionism is bullshit, just focus on having fun, and then I’ll draw so much more.

The next challenge will be to keep drawing (but definitely not daily) for the rest of 2020 :) If I can do 1 drawing a week, I’ll be VERY happy.

Thanks so much to @amefuri-no-kayoubi for supplying me with most of my Inktober prompts this year! There were some challenges but also some very cool surprises! And it was fun to do it (mostly) together :)

Inktober day 29 - “Sword”

Another random Skyrim sword! Apparently this one is called “Eduj”. Two more days to go!

Inktober 26, 27, 28

I enjoyed drawing all of these!! Drawing skulls is cool, I really enjoyed putting those random gritty details. I’m pleasantly surprised with the snake as well, and drawing those curves was very satisfying - should definitely draw snakes more. For gravestone, I did a The Sims 3 gravestone, featuring my latest Sim (coincidentally named Moss). She’s not dead yet, but it appears she’ll die by a fire. 🤷

Inktober 22-25

Did a lot of work again today! I already had a “Poisonous” from another prompt list, and I didn’t want to draw two bottles in a row, so I went with a Poison type Pokémon.

I was super happy with the bottle, it turned out so well! UNTIL I MADE THE RING. I love the ring!!! I was least looking forward to the ring, thinking I’d have to do something simple because it would be too hard to make something pretty.. I was googling rings for inspiration when I saw this rose ring. I thought, roses look amazing and aren’t actually that hard to draw... so I just started. And I love the outcome!! It’s such a cool ring.

I’m improving on my inktober record every day now! I think I’ll actually finish it this year! :)

Inktober 17-21

Today was a good drawing day! I wasn’t looking forward to doing ‘Lantern’, but pretty quickly decided to just get it over with and not make it super perfectly straight and in the end I enjoyed drawing it. I’m especially happy with the ‘Moth’ one, I drew my favourite moth (Giant Leopard Moth) and I think it turned out so well! I enjoyed using my blue pen for it too.

Inktober day 13, 14, 15 & 16

Going hard! I kind of like all of them today, except the witch hat, I don’t understand witch hat physics :V

I especially like the dagger (it’s an Orcish dagger from Skyrim). I liked the crystal cluster better before trying to add highlights, but hey, I learned something. :) And the jar was fun to make because I could focus a little more on drawing straight (which I didn’t do with the bottle earlier in the month!) It’s still not Perfectly Straight but it’s much better already.

Inktober day 10, 11, 12

Boom, another three done! :D And yes I totally did not want to draw a wooden chest. And the frog makes a return! (Because I also did not want to draw a crown. I’m really good at this.)

The time between deciding to draw and actually putting something on the paper was shorter today! Guess I’m slowly accepting myself more and listening less to perfectionism-monsters :) Just trying to have fun and putting something on the paper. I still challenged myself though, especially with the chest one - that shit is hard. Pretty happy with today’s drawings!

Inktober day 7, 8 and 9

Whew! Trying to work through my backlog! The candle one really worried me, just a candle just seemed too simple, and I had trouble ignoring my perfectionism thoughts. Then I just started (usually a good idea..) and added some autumn-y stuff to make some sort of table piece. I think it turned out cute. The pumpkin looks kind of like jell-o though 😂

I had NO IDEA what to do with the cards one. I was tired of hemming and hawing so I just started - with pen - just to get it over with. I wanted to do something similar to @amefuri-no-kayoubi ‘s Cards prompt, but I made the third card way too small... and then I thought fuck it, I’ll make something abstract. So have some magical smoky cards. I don’t know. 😂

I LOVE how my Cauldron one turned out!! At first I was a bit worried again, but I soon got the idea of putting something cute in it, and then I just got excited. I used an example for the cauldron and it made drawing a lot easier. Also don’t be worried about the froggy, they’re not being used for something magical - they ARE something magical 👀

Inktober day 5 & 6

Whoops, I had a week where I was pretty depressed, so now I’m behind. But I don’t care! I’m still gonna try!

The bottle was fun and cute to make, though I probably should have paid more attention to symmetry/making it straight (I really hate doing that though....)

For day 6 I started drawing before my mind could say “WAIT DRAGONS ARE HARD TO DRAW-” 🤷‍♀️ Yup they are, but I had fun! So suck it, perfectionism! The proportions aren’t great and all that kind of stuff but I HAD FUN! So I don’t care :D Which is exactly the right mindset to have, personally, for inktober!

Inktober day 2, 3 and 4

Oof! Trying to get back on track :) I used multiple prompt lists for these, as I just wasn’t feeling like using the same one.

Things I’ve learned:

1- Simple ideas can be fun too! I had been looking for a “good prompt” for a while before I started on this one, and when I saw poisonous, I couldn’t help but think of the classic red mushroom - but my brain kept telling me that was too simple, not hard enough, not good enough, blablabla - I got sick of it and just said you know what? Screw you, I’m gonna do a simple mushroom AND BE DONE WITH IT. And I did. And I actually really like how it turned out! I played with the shadows and coloring, and it was a fun experiment.

2- I was looking forward to this prompt, crystal balls are cool. It’s always kind of scary to do the 3rd one since the date has a special meaning to me and it feels like I have to do it PERFECT which is bullshit of course. I’m glad I went through with this one and used ink, even though I was scared of ruining it.

3- I didn’t “finish” this one, I didn’t feel like it. I enjoyed sketching this, and that’s enough. I don’t have to tire myself out just for the sake of completion. So I’ll just leave this one a sketch :)
