Edd helped Miri into a chair, getting her ice for her foot. He gave it to her, making sure she put her foot up. He then moved behind her, massaging her temples softly, as she obviously had a raging headache. âWeâre not sleeping together, Kuri. So, shut the fuck up about that. Thatâs not how you treat the hostess.â He looked down to Miri. âTell me if you need water or something.â He then looked back at Kuri. âLook, I donât know if we can keep you here, honestly. Iâm not willing to get Miri involved in your shit.â
He really didnât want to put Miri in any position to do anything illegal. He looked down at Miri, speaking softly to her. âKuri has tendencies to get involved with the wrong crowdsâŚ.Usually ending up with the police getting involved. Dunno what she did this time, but apparently itâs bad enough to set her on the run.â He sighed softly, moving to massage her shoulders. âIâm not letting her stay here. Iâll figure something out, Miri. I promise, alright?â
Edd went into the bathroom to get tissues, as he saw that Miri was running a bit of a runny nose. âGod, Miri. Are you sick or something?â He asked, handing them to her. He then sat down next to her, keeping a protective arm around her. He had the feeling that something would go very wrong and result in Kuri having an angry spell.
It simply wasnât right â he was the one that had been in the hospital that night and here he was taking care of her.  âEdd, you donât really have toâŚâ  But before she could even get the protest fully past her lips he had her foot propped up with ice on it, dulling the ache that radiated up her foot from her stumble earlier.  And she had to admit that his long, cool fingers felt wonderful on her temples, soothing away the ache that had settled behind her eyes.  She supposed, looking at it from an outsiderâs perspective, it would be the rational thought that she and Edd were⌠intimately acquainted.  He was being very solicitous of her, and he was at her house at a rather indecent hour.  She couldnât be upset at the young woman for making a logical assumption, incorrect as it might be.
However, Miri was old fashioned Southerner, and hospitality was just as much a religion as Methodist for her.  âEdd, thereâs no need to be so harsh.  Iâm sure that it wonât be any problem for her to stay for a night or two until she can make other arrangements.â  She gave Eddâs hand on her shoulder a gentle squeeze of reassurance and smiled warmly at the pink haired woman.  She was Eddâs family; for someone whoâd lost pretty much all of hers, family was a sacred thing.  âIâll get theâŚâ  She paused a moment, blinking.  âOhh. Well, Edd was going to have the guest room tonight.  Hmm.â She supposed that the other woman could sleep on the couch, but that might not be the most comfortable place. She considered leaving this decision to Edd, given that the young woman in question was his relative, but knowing him heâd either tell her to leave (which would be terribly impolite) or heâd take the couch himself (which she was absolutely not going to allow after winding up in the hospital on her account tonight). Â
âWell, weâll work out the sleeping arrangements. Â No worries at all about that.â Â She said cheerfully, surprised as Edd brought her back tissues for her runny nose. Ohh dear, she hoped she wasnât coming down with something. Â Then again, she did tend to get a bit drippy when she cried, and she had cried a good little bit tonight. Â To be fair, it was to be expected with the situation at the shop and everything.
