Hello! There's a question I just gotta know, if you don't mind. What is artfight exactly?

Art fight is a once a year art trading game that happens in July.

Everyone is sorted into teams, and posts reference sheets of their original characters. To 'attack' another team, you draw a character belonging to someone on that team. This earns your team points. The other person can then do a 'revenge' attack of your character to earn even more points! So to help your team win, you want to draw as many character attacks and revenges as possible.

Artists of all skill levels are welcome. The point scoring system is based on effort, not artistic skill.

I always post my attack art after the event ends.

An entire little guy planet, starring @small-small-slime 's alien guy! Full credits and thoughts under the cut.

At this point, somehow art fight was nearly over already! I realized I wouldn't have the chance to draw a lot of revenges, friend attacks, and completely random characters like I'd wanted to. So, in my last handful of days, I threw together one piece with as many little guys as I could! I like to imagine the alien's ship had landed for repairs, and while it was being fixed he got a chance to meet the local flora and fauna. What a diverse planet!

Moonjelly, the little blue jellyfish hat friend, is for @cursio-neptune. I imagine that a Moonjelly alien would be shy and nervous, but the alien has a gentle presence so maybe it's okay to come take a look.

E_mbe_r, @amberluvsbugs 's Ena sona, was probably the most complex little guy to draw. I made her bigger than the others to fit all the details, but it was still a bit of a challenge. I like to imagine she's as excited to meet this alien as he is to be here! How inspiring, what stories she'll have to tell about this!

Penn the Kwami for Forgotten_Plotline. I was so sad I couldn't fit one of their actual characters in, I hope the little sidekick is enough. A bug fit the alien forest vibe so perfectly though.

All-Ears the 'butterfly' for @aviul. Aviul has such amazing, crazy designs. As much as I love them, they're a little intimidating to draw. All-Ears is actually a god, and it was so fun to slip her in here. Ah yes, a perfectly normal butterfly, don't even worry about it. Funny to think that the alien is in the presence of something so powerful and has zero idea.

Bitternox for ethernettle. I stumbled across him just needed a mushroom to fit the theme, and wow. This design is like poetry. It accomplishes so much with so little. I did my best at drawing him!

A yellow Pikmin cat for Bluwiikoon. Out of all of them, I'm happiest with how this one came out.

Daphne the flower person for SparksArtd. Another design I wish I'd had more time and space for, but I did really enjoy getting to draw the small size.

Konata the alien for jayyline_sleeps. I wanted to get a green alien into the picture, thought it would be funny for the image of an alien visiting a planet to have a green alien native to it. Though Konata wasn't what I was expecting, I thought she'd fit right in. Though her ref sheet shows her as bipedal, I thought she'd look so comfy loafed like a cat on the rock.

Finally, Aquarius for RegiVAPOR. The original is such a pretty watercolor style, I feel like trying to translate that to the flatter solid color shapes didn't do them justice. I'm still glad to have been able to give it a shot though, and they fit the space I had perfectly.

The birthday drawings are so sweet as well. I've thought a lot about the plex celebrating Riley's birthday, but didn't want to specify exact timelines in the fic. Maybe some day I'll do a one off at an ambiguous point in the timeline... You are so right about all of these interpretations though. They WOULD. All of them. Exactly like that haha

i dont even go there (fnaf dca) but i read your fic i see you sundrop and it was really really good. i read it in less than 2 days and i loved it. the way you combined realism and the supernatural aspects was so cool and made so much sense. it also reminded me to actually pick up and put away my hard drives that were on the floor before i dropped a magnet on them so also thank you for that too lol

Elegy and Ataraxia for Cmz_lg

Ataraxy is my very favorite obscure word of all time, I was absolutely delighted to see it used.

My idea here was that as Ataraxia is described as no thoughts head empty, it might very confidently lead someone the exact wrong way.

This one didn't turn out quite like I wanted in terms of texture and shading, but that's the live and learn aspect of art fight I suppose.

Cure Iridian for novarizu. I really enjoyed doing more solid color shapes here, it was a lot of fun- even if all those rainbows turned out to be a lot harder than I expected.

My idea with this one is that magical girls don't just save the world from big monsters, they're here to help all sorts of people with smaller problems as well. It's a hot day, and the flowers needed water.

Lovey for Toucheholland23 and the Clown Wormie for chaos-clown!

I saw Lovey in the connections for Eclipse and was like, oh yeah, that is my kind of character design. I needed something fun for her to hug/play with, and the clown wormie was an excellent fit.

Lovey's design reminds me a little of Sylveon from Pokemon.

An AU Eclipse for @pluck-heartstrings ! I put a lot of effort into this one, and am really pleased with how it came out.

Bonus:

Changed the background to red mid-drawing to help me find any areas on the front drawing that had color spill or missing color. And like, holy heck. This is way cooler than what I actually drew on purpose. I still ended up completing my original idea for the art, but I had to save this version too.

Oh my! The beginning of a mystery…

Time for Baby Moon to get his detective duds on!

Detective Baby Moon's a pro– he knows all the best detectives immediately start narrating their thoughts out loud, regardless of who's nearby.

A good detective goes out and takes a walk in the street at night with only the light of the lamps as company while the monologue continues…

After giving the description of the culprit, Wren asks, "By the way, Mr. Detective, can you find a home for this poor lost dog?"

Baby Moon stares at the very confused wild coyote in her arms, "Sure! It'll have to be after I crack my current case, though. And if I can't find it's owner, I'm sure I can convince Sun to let me keep it!"

The room is cold. Outside the blazing white lamplight, all is dark as void.

Koishin isn't sure how he got here, shaking in terror.

"Alright." The Detective's voice is low and rough, "The first and most important question I'm gonna ask you is... are you comfortable with hugs?"

"Yes? Maybe? It- it depends?"

"Noted," The detective continues, "Second most important question. Did you steal the cookies from the cookie jar?"

Sometimes a Detective misses some details, makes a wrong call. Sometimes the missing detail was there hiding in plain sight, waiting to be noticed...

Meanwhile Monster Sun and Moon are trying to decide if this strange being mumbling about "who stole the cookie from the cookie jar" is a child in need of protecting or not.

Sometimes a second opinion is needed before the culprit of the case becomes clear… Sun is smart, he'll know! Oh! And he has guests!

Detective Baby Moon has saved the day!

He'll ask about adopting the coyote as soon as Sun gets out of Basket Jail.
