THE POET OF THE COURT
âAlas my love you do me wrong
To cast me off discourteously;
And I have loved you oh so long
Delighting in your company.â
So was one of the more popular songs Damien, the sheikah poet used to sing for the court of Hyrule. Since he was a child, he always thought the queen was beautiful, and one of his goals was to sing in front of them just as he was now doing, and he did so since his father allowed him to acompany them at the age of twelve. The princess was a few years younger than him, but he always managed to find a nice lyric, story or poem to delight her with during special meals.
Even when he had to find some appropriate melody to her motherâs funeral, the sympathy he felt for the princess became more intense, as he felt the need to protect her from any harm, watching her child stoic self, and not allowing herself to cry in front of others. Was it perhaps his Sheikah blood, such as her guardian Impa, that he felt... whatever he was feeling...
Or maybe the songs he sang about romance were there for a reason, and from then on, every time he composed and sang, the princess came to his mind.
-âThat must be what love is about... an impossible love... such inspiringâ He told himself the moment he realised he just kept thinking a big percentage of the day on princess (goddess) Zelda, his muse. He didnât eat, he didnât sleep until he recognised on his heart that the love the songs described was little, compared to what he felt for his unreachable lady.
Or so he believed.
-âDamien! Could you keep playing that lullaby?â The princess asked him, it was already late and, as usual she kept working on her lab. Impa was half asleep sitting in a chair, and the princess was dissecting a peculiar full guardian arm.
-âYouâr request is my pleasure as always, your highnessâ He said as he played a guitar version of Zeldaâs lullaby. He loved when she called his name, it was like tasting honey.
-âYou know that you are not obligued to keep working this late, right?â Impa told him, they knew each other since childhood, they were neighbours in Kakariko village, and their families also had a long friendship. Despite Impaâs parents and grandparents dedicated themselves to train in the arts of fighting as successors and guardians to the royal family, and all of Damienâs family were dedicated to music and served the royal family also.
-âItâs an honor to contribute to the princess investigationsâ he said as he began to play a different song, secretly this song was composed to express his feelings to the princess, it was a waltz he thought it would be better played with an accordion, but the violin gave it a soft and nice tone itself.
-âSuch nice melody! I like when you play the violin alsoâ The princes said, her hands were stained with oil from the guardian and half her face too. -âIt always helps to have music, I think I can concentrate betterâ
-âPrincess Zelda, Itâs past midnight, we should get you to have a bath and prepare for tomorrowâ Impa pleadingly asked, as she was tired herself.
-âI... Why canât you come with me?! Instead of that perfect knight or whatever?!â Zelda left a heavy piece on the table, making a loud noise, Damien perceived her annoyance.
-âPrincess... we already discussed it... it was a direct order from the Kingâ
-âImpa! Or you could come along! I donât think I need a knight to follow me around, itâs such a nonsenseâ
-âIf I could be of any help, princess, Iâd gladly contributeâ
-âThanks Damien, itâs just that I must part to the four regions to investigate the divine beasts, and my father insisted on me going with a knight he selected, instead of just me going alone...or with Impaâ she said looking at her reproachingly.
âMo! Princess! I told you already, all of us Sheikas are required to help with thecnology investigation, it could be an important part to defeat calamity... besides the sacred sword selected himâ
-âDivine beasts are more important ! But my father is... worried that I canât wake my power in time ..., so I must hurry, if I want to be able to pray to the goddess and have the Goron,Orni, Zora and Gerudo help with the beasts at the same time...â
-âI could come along if you allow me to, besides I havenât been required in court for a whileâ Damien shyly suggested.
-âCould you do that?!â Zelda took his hands firmly, surprised the young Sheika blushed entirely, retreating himself from her.
-âIâm sorry... itâs just...â the princess began to apologise, it was a rush, but she liked the idea of going with a friendly face.
-âPlease donât apologise your highness, of course Iâd love you... Iâd love to go along with you...â he said stuttering a bit. Impa gave him a suspicious glance.
-âIâm watching you Damien, donât try anything funny!â Impa said pointing at him with the guardianâs leg, and the three of them began laughing.
His hands were now also stained with oil. If he could, he wanted to keep them unwashed forever.
The knight was already waiting in the hall. He wasnât a very tall man, even Damien was taller. He couldnât help but compare himself to the boy, he seemed to be like his age, yet he had imagined a big and musculous guy, but instead there was this young man with an innocent and serious face, if he could say so.
Not that Damien considered himself ugly, even some girls had flirted with him, not because of his manly appearance, but because he took good care of his fragile self. Being a court musician didnât involve much physical activity, yet he was trained in the proper way of the sigilous Sheikah. Demian had just packed some sheikah snaks, and of course his violin as well, it was better for travelling, the guitar would be heavy to carry.
The princess went down the stairs, and without even looking at Link, she went out her way, greeting Damien. Link bowed politely, getting on one knee.
â-Are you ready, master of music?â
-âOn this tempestuous day,
Let me, beautiful princess
Show you all the wayâ
-âHow is it you always have a verse?â She smiled and kept on going to the exit of the castle.
LINKâS POINT OF VIEW
He arrived early this morning. Rumour was that he was soon to be named the appointed knight for the princess officially. Yet now, the king entrusted him with the safety of his daughter travelling to the Rito Village. He used to be relaxed, but since that event where he obtained the master sword, he felt every one was watching him, so he was restless... âWas he good enough to carry the sword that repels the darkness?â Since childhood legends told that the hero would rise against evil, he used to love that stories, now he felt anxious about them, as he never imagined he would actually get to BE the hero himself.
A sheikah arrived and seemed to be waiting for something or someone. It was odd he carried a violin and Link felt observed. He nodded as a greeting.
The princess came downstairs. She was as beautiful as he remembered, and she had quite developed womanly features, Link scolded himself because of this thought, after all she was to become his Queen someday, so he owned every respect he could muster. Quickly he got in one knee and greeted her silently. After he stood up, he saw the princess happily greet the man with the violin, and how he took her hands and told her some words that made her smile.
âWhy was he so close to the princess?â That though left his envious side arise, yet he had being training on not letting his emotions show anymore, after all, he had to be seen as a true hero chosen by the sword.
End of LINKâs POV
They began walking, followed by the knight and three more knights her father assigned to scort her. Damien thought that the sweet princess had also a different and more dark side, as she ignored and diminished the presence of the appointed knight, it was more than evident that she didnât enjoy or even wanted his presence around her. Damien wanted to know every side of her, even the wrong sides.
The fact that the knight hadnât said a single word about it was more entangling.
It was almost noon, they went on horse all the way, and only stopped to feed the horses and have a snack themselves. Zelda mainly spoke with Damien, as he also improvised some verses for her, and the other knights were entertained during meal by him. Link stood behind, always vigilant of the surrounding.
They went back on the horses, and when they got to Carock bridge Zelda looked at the map again.
-âSo, I think that the way to Tabanta is this way to the north.â
Damien wasnât sure, he barely traveled back and forth from Kakariko village, he had seen once or twice an orni merchant, but he was confident that the princess had the map with her.
-âItâs notâ
A voice sounded from behind. Link had spoken. He had a soft and somehow masculine voice.
-âSpeak, Link? Was it your name?â
-âThe shortest way to Rito village is to the left. Unless you want to go trough the tundra, that would take us...â
-âWeâll take northâ she interrupted him, not wanting to hear more of the chosen knight. And her horse obeyed the command to go north. Time after she would regret this decision.
-â... one more day...â he finished his sentence with a whisper. The other knights looked at him.
-âWell, if we are with you Link, I bet no monster would scare the sh** out of meâ
The other knight scolded him for swearing, after all the princess may have heard them.
THIS WAS MEANT FOR A ONE SHOT, but the story kept on going đŹ. Hope you enjoy it, Zelink story to the bones, and some jealousy involving the poet of the court (Main witness of Zelink) THANKS to Greenie for the name of the poet đ

Ch3 Gerudoâs Way
Zelda, followed by Impa reunited with Marth and Roy, who weâre now wearing Hylian blue tunics, and Link dressed with his Hylian knight garments.
Link greeted on a formal way, staying silent the rest of the time until princess arrival. , itâs not that he felt like socialising with âfamous handsome fiancĂŠâ, who would be with the girl he never imagined loving that way.
From a special portal, using Sheikah tablet, they were transported to the outskirts of Gerudo dessert. Urbosaâs old friend, Kouka was already waiting for them.
-âThatâs wicked mate! This Sheikah artefact, such a good inventionâ Roy enthusiastically said, never knowing teleportation before. Marth was also overwhelmed by it, as Altea did not have that kind of âtransportationâ
âSavâotta! As you must know, it is an urgent matter, so I need you to accompany me into the villageâ the tall Gerudo said.
Zelda looked at Kouka, and then to her companions. They could not enter Gerudoâs village, as they were man, or voe as they called them
-âItâs better to follow Gerudoâs law, manâs access is forbidden, so you should wait for me here...â
Foreseeing this, Kouka interrupted
-âPrincess, if you agree we could give them special vai clothes so they could enter, and we would save ourselves a lot of time...â
-âLets do this princess, I see your concern, so I donât mind changing Hylian clothes for Gerudo onesâ He immediately proposed, entering Koukaâs tent.
-âWell... maybe itâs not like...â she answered dubious, looking towards Link, who avoided nervously her eyes, following Marth and Roy who were already undressing.
-âThis is kind of a jokeâ Royâs voice was heard trough the tent, laughing.
-âYou have to admit that as a red head look more Gerudo-ishâ he laughed again, after a moment the Altea royals came out of the tent. Zelda, who was drinking water from a bottle, started coughing and choke a bit from the impression.
-âWell, how do we look with veils? â Roy asked moving his hands as if he was dancing, to wich made Zelda laugh sincerely. They were both wearing traditional Gerudoâs outfit, a blue top with golden engravings, a veil covering their heads and face with hanging ornaments leaving only their eyes exposed, a small jewel hanged in the middle of their foreheads. The pants were kind of bloomers, so they had their abdomen exposed, but their arms were covered by delicate silk sleeves.
-âI think you are completely approvedâ Kouka affirmed, smiling pleased. âIf your skin wasnât as white, and your hair so blue, for the stature you could be a Gerudo vai, your face factions are really refined, arenât they?â
Still smiling Zelda nodded, after all she didnât expect the prince to accept this kind of requests just like that
-âWell, this is the most femenine side youâll see of meâ he said while adjusting the veil, blushing under it.
At the end, Link joined them, he wore a green top and a similar veil, which left Zelda, Roy and Kouka open-mouthed
-âItâs your turn princessâ she said pulling from her arm and taking her into the tent. âI have something special for you, sent by Urbosa herself.
-âBut I donât...â she said nervously.
-âCome on, come on! If we are Gerudo for a day, guided by a Sheika you have to have similar outfits so you donât stand outâ
Within minutes, a blushing Zelda appeared, closing her arms in front of her, covering her tiny abdomen on a shy posture, she never wore something so light, but she was kind of grateful, as the sun was starting to rise and you could feel the intense heat of the dessert.
-âIsnât she beautiful?â Kouka said smiling, and presented her with a pony tail, similar to Gerudoâs, with a pale pink top, golden accents and a similar veil, a white hip bloomer pant, both Link and Marth blushed on sight, Roy smiled making the seven veil dance.
-âDonât look!â She said embarrassed with a nervous laugh, looking the surprised faces, especially Linkâs.
âNow I feel less embarrassment, as we are wearing the same Princess, this outfit fits you beautifullyâ Marth said smiling, offering his hand so she could step down the small rock stair outside the tent, and held her for a minute, something Link wasnât happy with, and without a word he reached out the Sheika tablet to Zelda, so she had to release Marthâs hand.
-âThanks Link, letâs proceed to the villageâ
Marth was a good observer, so he didnât ignored this event.
Impa went into the village with them and decided she should get more information, so she left Zelda in Urbosaâs care, determining they would meet in a couple of days.
Urbosa was overflowing with happiness when she saw Zelda wearing the outfit she sent, and admired watching Link in Gerudoâs outfit, she almost didnât recognised him.
-âYou look charming Princess, I know certain appointed knight would not be indifferent towards thisâ she said, giving Link a wink, while she blushed.
-âUrbosa, please allow me to introduce to you my FiancĂŠâ
-âFiancĂŠ!? What did I miss? You are not wasting time! I always knew that you two...
-âHe is Marth!! Prince of Altea!â She quickly interrupted, as Urbosa was assuming in advance she was talking about Link, and she liked to tease them about it.
-âOh! Saâoten, My goodness! This is a surprise, you are a voe! I thought you were a beautiful vai from the westâ she told Marth, shaking his hand, watching Link sideways.
-âI suppose itâs lucky we met under this circumstancesâ he answered smiling.
-âSuch a curious accent!â She said with animosity, sitting then on a big cushion surrounding a table with fresh incense and cold water, so the guests followed.
-âEverything happened near the subterranean water well, the one we use to irrigation of the fields, all the new sprouts began dying, even the flowers and cactus began withering, three of my best explorers went down to look for the cause of this, maybe the water spring was being contaminated, and they never came back... it gives me a bad feeling, Princess I sent down several search and rescue teams without successâ
-âIt will be better to go personally, maybe I could feel some dark power in the wellâ
The team walked to the wet zone of the water wells, going down a big ladder with some torches to light the way down, Marth and Roy insisted to go along too.
Trying to distract herself, Zelda summoned triforce power raising her hand, a light shining arised, lighting the way in the same manner than the torches they carried.
-âI canât feel any presenceâ lowering her eyes, she took her hand to her chest, holding both hands to her heart.
After walk-in about an hour, Urbosa claimed
-âI might be imagining things, but I think I heard somethingâ She lit her torch ahead, and a black goo turned off the fire completely, it was an eyeless creature, so it wasnât a jelly choo.
-âWhat the hell..!â Exclaimed, snapping her fingers to cast lighting without any effect on the creature. She then tried to cut it with her double edge sword, wich stuck to the goo, sucking it.
Marth Link and Roy unsheathed their swords, as Roy atacked frontally with a fire thrust, but that only angered the beast, at the same time as if they were coordinated, Link and Marth attacked up, wich divided the creature in two parts, one of them went right to Urbosaâs ankle, the more she tried to release herself, the more tight she was imprisoned by it, going up her leg.
Zelda tried to summon her power, but a feeling that she shouldnât think about him or her love for him, he was forbidden, he was going to voluntarily marry someone else, so her hand would only emit a soft ball of light, there was nothing she could do, in a second the creature trapped her leg and she fell to the ground, hitting herself on the rocks, the creature quickly advanced to her waist.
Link felt despair, he had to do something before this thing ate both of the girls.
While Marth tried to pull Zelda out, Link took out a few ice arrows and shot the black flap adhered to the champion. Soon the creature freezed and with a thrust Roy broke it into pieces.
He repeated the procedure with the left part of the goo to release the princess, and as they broke it, on its insides the shapes of three inconcious Gerudo were seen.
âÂĄSaâoten! In the name of the Goddess!â Urbosa said, raising up quickly and checking on the young girls laying on the ground.
âIt seems that thing stole their energy, they are alive but unconscious, we need to get them up and hidrate them, before we find out if we really killed this bastardâ
The three guys help carrying the girls into their backs, and went back to the city. Marth couldnât help but notice that the princess had several wounds on her shoulder.
-âPrincess! You are severely wounded!â He said as his hand was about to touch the naked shoulder of the young girl to look at the bleeding, being interrupted by Linkâs arm, who prevented his hand from touching her, holding the Princeâs hand.
-âDonât... Youâr highness, please refrain from touching the wound, it might get infectedâ Link expressed, with a quick uncomfortable silence until Urbosa broke the moment with a loud voice.
-âAra! We have to get this wound treated, follow me, Iâll take you to my chambersâ
Ther Gerudo girls were being treated on the nursery, and they assigned a room near Urbosaâs chambers to the boys.
-âYou worry a lot about the princess, Linkâ ... Marth affirmation was made looking at him front, as Roy was making his bed on the corner of the room.
-âItâs part of my jobâ he coldly answered, looking the other side to the window. Not even Revali made him feel this annoyed like this guy.
-âNot a problem then commander, from now on itâs my job, after all she is my betrothedâ
-âOy! What are you on about?â Roy came, he sensed the tense ambient, and they were front to front.
-âNothing, Iâll go and check on Vah Naborisâ Link retired making a small bow and went through the balcony, going down the stairs.
-âI wonder what is he talking about? Vah Nawbee..what?
With a confused face, Roy looked at Link abandoning the room.
-âMore than that, Iâm interested on the ice magic they used in the arrow, they are different from Alteaâsâ
-âIâve seen ice magic before, but never in an arrow, do you remember that dragon we went after?â Roy said
-âAnd I suspect there is more than that, Hyrule is filled with magic, when the kingdoms unite, think of all the power we could get, I read there are also dragons here...â
-âSo... you are thinking seriously on marrying Zelda and have a lot of kids?â Row asked yawning
Donât be a wanker! What are you thinking about!? Said Marth blushing fiercely while Roy went into a bed and covered himself with a blanket
Leaving the royals behind, Link went down the valley to the place where Vah Naboris was. He climbed up to the top and after sitting for a while looking into the dessert, felt someoneâs presence behind him, relaxing when he saw it was Urbosa.
-âSavâorr! Heroe... are you gonna let her go just like that?â she stood behind him
-âThereâs not much I can do...â he answered looking down, then he realized Urbosa was talking about a purple rupee about to fall from his pocket to one of the lumps of the big camel, grabbing it at the last moment.
Urbosa, with a sassy smile sat next to him.
-âIt would be perfect if you could just take whatever you want into your pocket, wouldnât it? Even the heart of a certain princessâ she told, stretching her hands to the sky. Link just blushed.
-âI wouldnât... besides she already has someone...â he answered avoiding to look at her.
-âWell, itâs a progress, at least you realized yourself you r-e-a-l-l-y care about her... huh? appointed knight? â
-âI donât.... I mean... damn! Is it that obvious? I would give my life for her no doubt...â
-âItâs as clear as waterâ the chief of the Gerudo laughed. âProbably clear since before Ganon even appeared, but you were the one who didnât realise it, It still bugs me that she accepted the proposal of that voe prince... Marth is it? Itâs strange, he came out of nowhere. I would have bet my right hand she only had eyes for a single knight, Iâll find out about itâ
-âNo, Urbosa, I think itâs better not to complicate things...â
-âSo, are you gonna let her go just like that?â She pointed at his pocket, which made Link turn quickly to verify his rupees werenât falling, but the bag was perfectly closed.
-âYou should tell her how you feel Link, Iâm sure that would make her happy, I donât think she realises you care for her not out of duty, but out of love, more than she thinks ofâ
That word made the knight nervous, with a red face.
-âI... donât know, Iâm not sure itâs the proper time now that she has a Prince to marryâ
Come on! If you wait for the proper time, a hundred year will pass, when will it be? When she is married? You canât take your time hero!â She said out loud while going down the sacred beast, Link could not sleep that night, and he just dozed on the top of Vah Naboris.
The next day Zelda slowly opened her eyes, she had some trouble waking up, and the moment her lids were open, she found someone in front of her, a familiar silhouette.
-âLi...â she managed to pronounce before she was completely awake, and the blurring shadow became clear. It was Marth, who was closely watching her, standing on the side of her bed, surprised she sat on the bed.
-âGood morningâ the prince said with a smile
-âPrincess, I assume you must be exhausted, as you slept so muchâ
-âWhat time is it?â She asked rubbing her eyes, she felt as if she had slept a few minutes.
-âIt must be past supper, I brought you some refreshments from the table, you havenât had taken anything since yesterday â he said as he took the tray to the bed.
âOh, thanks but itâs better if I get up already...â she mentioned, feeling spoiled by the sovereign, but the moment she tried to stand up, the force on her legs went away and she could have fallen if it wasnât for Marth, who was near to support her, kneeling down he embraced her.
-âItâs better if you rest more your highness, it seems you are a bit weakâ
-âIâm fine...â she said taking his shoulder to stand, looking into his eyes, they were dark blue, contrary to Linkâs reckleness, his eyes had a calming effect.
When she was about to get up, the prince carried her on his arms firmly, walking some steps to the table.
-âMarth! Stop! Iâm not a baby, put me down pleaseâ
-âI refuse... until you accept to rest some more. Besides itâs not the first time I carry you like thisâ he answered with a smile looking at her amused âIt makes me happy that you called me by my first name, can I do the same?â
-âI ... guess you can, as long as you put me downâ she said blushing while avoiding his eyes, she didnât realized she just called his name, and he must be referring to the incident with the alcohol she had, that time she didnât remember how she got to her bed.
-âOk then, Zeldaâ still smiling, the prince walked again to the bed, putting her down with ease, the moment Link and Urbos came in from the door.
-âWhat the!â Link said walking protectively whe he saw the blue haired man (who he disliked even more) with his hands on the princess.
-âHow did the investigation went?â Marth asked, letting the princess on her bed to sit up.
-âTher is no trace of the creature... but in our way back, Link found something youâd like Princessâ Urbosa said, as Link went to his bag to take out some hydromelons and honey, and began preparing it cutting the fruit with a small knife.
-âHoney! Thanks, along with hydromelon is one of my favourites! She mentioned as her stomach growled, having had no food in the day.
-âI donât know what is happening,... maybe Iâm just tiredâ she said, taking a piece of the hydromelon with honey that Link prepared.
-âMaybe itâs your moon bleeding?â Urbosa asked casually, to wich Zelda blushed and the boys looked away.
-âAnyway, Iâll make the doctor come and check on you , itâs not normal you have so low energy, and I donât know if Iâm imagining things, but the power from the triforce on you, itâs quite weak...â
The princess nodded, she felt as she ran a marathon in the desert, and consciously she knew, what she felt about Link was forbidden, which prevented her from trying to express her power and the voice that resonated from the triforce was more distant every day.
-âThere is not a prudent medical explanation, it seems like fatigue, Princess, youâll have to be periodically taking this energy potionâ
Gerudoâs medical doctor seemed concerned, after checking the young princess. Impa who was getting back from her own investigation. She also seemed worried about her health.
-âItâs better if we visit Kakarikoâs village in our way back, maybe Prunia can lead us in the cause of your tiredness, if itâs triforce related, sheâll know what to doâ Impa felt something was wrong, so she suggested that, thy would go to Akkala before returning to Hyrule.
-âWeâll see each other soon!â Urbosa said her farewells,
Once everything was ready, they went to a Kakarikoâs near spot, using the Sheikah tablet. Impaâs friend, Prunia had her investigation lab there, they met on Impaâs house.
-âI like this place, we can dress manly hereâ Roy said, walking in the Kakarikoâs village, admiring the beautiful waterfalls in the back of a big mansion with an amazing garden, to wich they accessed trough a wooden stair. Prunia was a young intelectual woman, she was assisted by a teenager called Rotver.
-âIâll have to make some blood tests Princess, come with me pleaseâ Prunia said, taking her to the u
âWould you say there is something you might relate to your symptoms your highness?â She asked while adjusting a rubber around her arm
âIt may be... related to feeling, you know...â she answered dubiously, not knowing how to express her idea.
âFeelings... you mean about your engagement?â She asked pulling a fine needle and punturing the princess arm to obtain a blood sample on a special container.
âI ... believe itâs about unrequited feelings...â she said, thinking about Link and Mipha. A moment later prince Marth came into the room opening the sliding door at the entrance.
âI was wondering how do you analyse blood, Iâm sorry for intruding, Iâve never heard of such thing before in Alteaâ and as they went into an animated chatting, Zelda wondered how much did the prince hear about the previous talking, holding her arm on the puncture wound while Impa game into the room.
âItâs highly adviced for you to keep resting while we have some results, please Princess you have to do soâ
âAnd so itâll beâ Impa stated before she could say something.
They went horseback riding on their way to Hyrule, as Roy and Marth insisted to meet some of the roads of Hyrule, they game back to the castle in half a day, just to find out a Zora ambassador was waiting for them to return.
-âIâm sorry to be intruding, I already presented the case to the council and they asked me to wait for you, your highnessâ
-âWhat is it about?â Link asked, knowing Zelda had to keep rest, and shouldnât bother herself with this matters .
-âWe canât locate princess Mipha, thatâs why the King sent me urgently to ask for your assistance, an strange creature was seen in the outskirts and it might be about something elseâ
Everyone kept silent due to surprise. This was unexpected, after all she was one of the champions, and under the protection of the Zoraâs land that was so peaceful.
-âI must part immediatelyâ Link said, checking his arrow stock and sword
Zelda look at him, taking her hands to her chest. She was worried about Mipha, and the commanderâs reaction somehow made her feel in pain Why, why can I just simply accept it? His heart belongs to someone else, that person is missing, itâs logical he goes to look for her
Impa looked at the princess directly almost begging
-âPrincess Zelda, itâs better if you stay here, I donât consider it a good time to expose yourself again to this danger, until we know the results of the blood sampleâ
-âItâs better if you go....â she sadly expressed, handling the Sheikah tablet to Link, âUse it as long as you needâ
-âThanks, I think I should get going...â
-âZelda, is it possible for my cousin to go along with the commander?â Marth asked, and to Linkâs desmay he called the princess by her first name, something even he wouldnât do not because of confidence but the hierarchy prevented him to do so, he never had even imagined to refer to her with such confidence.
-âHey! I love new adventures. Arenât you comming Marth?â Roy asked willingly.
-âIâd prefer to spend more time with Zelda, I trust you in this mission, Royâ He said, putting a hand on his shoulder and looking at Link directly, who only made a slight grimace looking away, Zelda was strangled by the prince actions.
-âYouâll lose it! Come on commander Link!â
-âJust Link itâs ok, Salif, lets go back to Zoraâs city, excuse us your highnessâ Link said looking down and walking to an open area to transport along with Zoraâs messenger and Roy.
-âImpa, please let Revali knowâ The princess asked, and she went after to the dining hall, escorted by Marth, as Impa took care of the remaining things to doâ
At the dining hall, the princess barely touched her food, and answered with monosyllabic to the conversation the prince tried to have, a small tear came down her cheek.
-âZelda, you may not want to talk about whatâs worrying you, but I think your eyes do not lieâ Marth came near her table side from the other edge.
-âIâm ok, Iâm just tired...â she said faking a smile
-âYou are gutted because of your feelings for the commander, arenât you?â The question was quite direct, making her look at him alarmed.
-âWhy should I? Thatâs unthinkable! And what does gutted mean anyway?!â She said looking away nervous, as the tears began flowing down more and more every time until her crying was continuous, Marth offered a handkerchief and made a sign for the remaining maids behind them to go and prepare some tea, leaving them alone in the big room, once she calmed down a little, he looked at her up front and continued.
-ââZelda, could you fall in love with me?â He asked with a frank face and took her hand, she watched him in surprise without saying a word.
-âI know the bethrotal does not mean you have to reciprocate my feelings... but for me, the little time I have met you, I realized I want to protect you, I admire your dedication for the kingdom and the people, your braveness and courage, and above all, who you are, so I consider myself quite flucky to have your hand in marriage, but Iâd like it to be more than an agreement, I would like to court you properly, even if I know your heart belongs in other placeâ
The prince held Zeldaâs hand firmly, a second later he got near with the intention to kiss her. She still couldnât believe her ears. She never had been in that situation where someone declared the intention to woo her, and she havenât had her fist kiss yet. She kept asking herself How did he knew she loved Link? Shouldnât that make him walk away? Why was he acting like this?
A few inches from kissing, before their lips made contact, the noise from the doors opening with tea and some desserts interrupted them.
-âMart.. how did you find out about...? He is going to marry the same girl from the Zoraâs kingdom who disappearedâ she told while they served some sweet bread and rose tea from Altea
-âI realized, despite your kingdom is prosper, and problems are solved, you suffer day by day, besides you told me some things the day of the celebration I carried you to your room along with Impa, and I overheard something when Prunia was taking your blood sampleâ
-âMarth...â
-âCould you consider it? This is the first time Iâm so certain of something, and itâs also the first time I declare myself to anyone...â The prince said, looking away a bit shy with a slightly blushed face.
Zelda could only see honesty. The foreigner, after a month or so of knowing her, opened himself to her, she felt he wasnât capable of hurting her, something made her feel safe around him. She stood up and dismissed the maids,, then she walked to the big window looking into Hyruleâs twilight.
-âI canât promise you a lot... Marth, youâll see, I havenât told anyone, but my power and the will to save this kingdom came from my feelings for Li....â
The prince approached without her ending the phrase and hugged her, she was surprised and remained still.
-âCan you forget about him? I know itâs selfish from me, but I want to help you. Come with me, to Altea, Iâll introduce you to my parents, youâll know your future kingdom, maybe that way youâll have a change of feelings, or maybe that way youâll have eyes for meâ
Go with him to Altea? She never occurred that possibility, to go away from Hyrule, to go away from ... Link.
-âI donât know, I didnât expected this so... so soon...â she stuttered, so much in so little time was overwhelming.
-âIt might be rushed l, but please you should meditate this, Iâm willing to wait for you, my Princess Zeldaâ and in the hug they shared, he left a sweet and gentle kiss on her cheek, why kept her eyes wide, and took her hands to her chest again. He kissed her, her first kiss from someone not family related. Maybe it wasnât in her lips, but it was something that would not leave her mind so easily.

-âOn the contrary. Knowing Hyrule, and meeting you... has only increased my longing to concrete a possible alliance between our kingdomâ he answered properly and continued speaking
-âI have to confess that an arranged marriage would sound correct for our parents or grandparentsâ pausing, Marth looked at his sword with some melancholy, then he followed
-âI believe a lot of situations have influence on this now, and I didnât conceived in my mind the idea of not paying Hyrule a visit, at least once, I deeply apologize if this has offended you in any wayâ he said making a small bow, custom of royalty when apologizing.
In fact, it was not a tradition between royalty to pay pre- marriage visits. The sole idea or proposition of it was seen unnecesary and scandalous, as it was a pact between kings, when they were both Children.
-â You are welcome to stay, Prince Marth. I understand your position, more than anyone, Iâm sorry to be unable to guide you around the kingdom... and Iâm afraid you can not expect much from me, than this unfortunate welcomeâshe answered coldly, realizing the Prince had no intention to break the engagement.
-âDo not worry, we are pleased to be welcome to Hyrule, huh Roy? Whilst my father is who I think wonât be happy with my actionsâ the young man said while tousling Royâs red hair
Zeldaâs first impression of the Prince was of an honest person, at least he disagrees on arranged marriage just like herself, to the point of travelling several days just to meet the bride he was being imposed, but it was difficult for her to open up to a stranger so easily.
That night she could not manage to sleep. After rolling several times on her bed, she decided to take a stroll to her favourite garden, still preserved at the east wing. The garden where she cried that time in front of Link.
She dressed up and walked slowly with a candle on her hand, some guards about to nap were surprised of her presence and straighten out inmediately.
After walking around some flowers, she saw a shadow coming near the garden, jumping trough the pillars to her right.
-âGuards?â She asked, taking two steps back.
When she didnât get an answer, she was about to hurry back to the alley, but the moon lit the face of the person she most longed to see.
-âPrincess, shouldnât you be resting?â
-âLink!â She called his name relieved, pinching her own finger to prove it was not another dream, she ran near him, until she realized something. He was not wearing his usual knight garments neither a Hylian tunic, he was wearing...
-âI see you have... a new armor... Zora armor...â
Link, who had not taken rest on his road back after going all the way to Zoraâs land, realized he didnât even showered, or taken off more than the helmet Mipha gave to him, but he wasnât precisely expecting an audience with the princess that night, simply his feet had taken him to that part of the castle, and as late it was he didnât expect to find anyone awake.
-âYes... itâs a giftâ he answered, taking a step away from the princess to save her from the smell he must have had riding under the sun in sweat.
-âFrom Lady Mipha?â She inquired, in her heart something was not right. She asked but She didnât want to know the answer. She did not want to listen... and why did Link stepped away from her?
-âYes... â he said, tiredness reflected on his eyes, suddenly Zelda turned her back to him.
-âCongratulations... Link... I shall retire... I shouldnât be here at this hour...â
Perplexed as he was, without time to answer, he saw Zelda run towards her chambers, guided by the candle she was holding which she left on the window, running in the dark. She could hear her name being called by her once appointed Knight.
-âZelda! Zelda! Wait!...â He called triying to follow, but at such time, following the princess to her room could be easily misunderstood, even if they had spent several nights on the fields outside the castle, the actual situation could be confusing to the royal guards.
Once in her room, triforce resonated in her mind, the back of her hand was shining lightly and faded away, the triangle was blurry but still there.
She knew what the armor meant, on her several visits to the Zoraâs kingdom she was even invited in one ocassion to a Zora wedding, and Mipha herself explained that the armor has to be handmade by the bride to her groom. Zelda even asked if Mipha had already began making her own, and she just began fidgeting nervously watching Link from afar playing with some Zora children.
Seeing Link on his armor could only mean that he had accepted Miphaâs feelings, and he was planning to marry her. After all he had a good relationship with King Dorphan, and as absurd it may sound, she was sure he would consent the wedding of her daughter with a hylian.
-âThe most important is for him to be happyâ she told to herself, holding her own hand to her chest, conscious she shouldnât cry, she cleaned her silent tears, and remembered Linkâs words
-âIâll allways protect youâ
-âIâm a foolâ she affirmed, smiling and containing more tears. After all, her purpose was to let all her people have a normal life, live among their loved ones.
In the morning, she sent her personal Sheikah messenger to find the foreigners. She had her mind set.
The council meeting was about to start, Link was already clean and fresh, he wore his usual hylian royal guardâs tunic. He had to find her, talk to her for once, he didnât know why she ran last night, but he saw pain reflected in her eyes. âMaybe the armor made her believe he was engaged with Mipha? Nah... just the thought of something so visceral to produce... jealousy? That was something daring to even imagine, yet she congratulated him on something...â
He saw her walking to the auditorium followed by Impa as always, but she was being escorted to her side by a young man with blue hair, tall and white skin, finely dressed on foreign garments, a cape with a ruby brooch and blue shoulder plates, combined with jewellery on his forehead, was it a tiara?...
Behind them, trying to talk lively with Impa was other man, with the same small ears and a red rebellious hair, equally dressed in blue armor and some band around his forehead.
Link walked towards them, trying to reach her before she entered the great hall, but it seemed as if she speeed up when she saw him, so he ran a bit to the entrance.
-âPrincess! Princess Zelda! He called. There was no way she missed the call, as the company turned to face him. She stopped and faced him too.
-âOh!... Prince Marth, allow me to introduce you to our Chief commander of Hyruleâs army, Linkâ
Link stopped for a moment, surprised for so much ceremony.
-âLink, this is Marth Lowell, prince of Altea, my... fiancĂŠâ she said without looking into his blue eyes, almost without hesitation, with composure.
-âFian..â he babbled before realizing he was being expected to bow respectfully, which he did, taking a hand to his chest as a martial salute. Marth extended his open hand to him, looking at him sideways.
-âI understand you handle the sword that repels evil, if I remember correctly is the master sword, I would be honored to watch it in all itâs splendour, maese Linkâ he said with a peculiar accent, to which he just answered with a nod. The group followed ahead, to the meeting, leaving Link agazed.
On the great hall, Zelda introduced the foreigners, which was a surprise to the council, but most agreed on welcoming the prince and taking him on a tour, after all, they seemed on him the future King of Hyrule and Altea. It would be a novelty for Zelda, after six weeks of the catastrophe, she had accepted a prospect of marriage with the neighbouring kingdom, and besides he was a young and handsome Prince, as referred by some ladies of the court.
Link felt ill. All morning he had a bit of a nauseous feeling which even prevented him from taking breakfast. It seemed as if he had found her. He would have to tell Mipha.
His heart pounded just thinking about Zelda, but he realized this too late.
It was curious watching someone separating her from him, like a bucket of cold water., ice that woke him to realize his feelings for her, the same feelings which had been there implicit on the way he found out himself watching her while she was asleep in the field, on the way he cared for her without considering it part of a job, he came to love her, of that he was sure now. He wanted to protect her and be by her side, hold her and tell her he wouldnât go.
-âWhat can he offer anyway?â He whispered to himself, clenching his fist, looking at the aforementioned prince, without realizing that the ex commander was sitting right at his side since who knows when.
-âA kingdom, perhaps...â he said, while he arranged his moustache with his hand inquiring.
-âCommander Van... I didnât realized you had arrived...â He said ashamed of his whispering, turning to face him.
-âEx commander, if you may allow me to correct you, commander Linkâ
The young hylian smiled, watching the royal couple talking vividly far from him, during the recess of the reunion.
-âThey make such a good couple, donât they?â The old commander asked, just to watch Linkâs reaction, without meaning any of it.
-âIf you say so...â Link sighed.
-âBoy, my best advice for you is that there is no difference between a wise man and a fool when they fall in love... youâll find someone eventually, having such face! Are you sure you donât want me to introduce you to my daughters?â He laughed.
A week after, the princess seemed to avoid him, and a small engagement party was celebrated with a dinner in the big dining room of the castle. Several carriages with wine and goodies from Altea came along with a message from the King. The wine was being served in all tables, and Link couldnât stand it anymore, so he left early before the toast.
-âIt seems that my uncle the King is not that angry with youâ Roy states, serving some wine and taking some meat.
-âThat is because the Princess accepted the engagement, I can not think what would have happened if this had complicatedâ he answered on a serious tone.
âI really donât know what wowwies youâ Roy said chewing with full mouth, âIs not that you wanted to marry anywayâ he drank cheerfully wine from his goblet.
-âYou wouldnât understand it even if I spelled it for you, the princess is all but what I imagined, I would like just to get to know her a littleâ Marth affirmed, watching her go out into the near balcony.
-âJust admit it, you like her, and weâll leave it thereâ Roy said, taking another piece of deer from a tray.
Marth almost spits his wine -âSometimes your imprudence is as big as your mouthâ he said standing and following Zelda to the balcony, thanking everyone were distracted on their own business and not paying attention to what they talked.
Zelda turned, watching the prince enter the balconyâs garden.
-âIs that wine from Altea?â She asked, pointing at the golden goblet he had on his hand.
-âYes it is, itâs a combination of two grapes which grow in our fields, ages for eighteen months in oak barrels, but Iâll assume you already know, as you have proven your knowledge in botanicsâ he answered with a smile.
To his surprise, Zelda boldly took the goblet from his hand, and drank it on two sips, her cheeks were already red due to alcohol effects.
-âI... donât know much of Altea, your Highnessâ she said, tumbling a little.
â-Itâs better for you to sitâ he said worried, taking her hand suddenly, helping her to sit on the window box, sitting next to her.
-âYou Prince Marth!... must be such ... a heart breaker... mustnât you?â She said with her eyes closed, putting her head on his shoulder, to wich he stood still, watching her closely.
-âYou donât have.. hic!... the right to break them, because they suffer, and cry!!! â she said while standing tall suddenly with a hand in the air. He just kept holding her so she wouldnât lose stability and fall, when sitting back.
-âPrincess, the alcohol might have you a bit gutted, I think I should escort you to your private chambers to get some kip, maybe? Tomorrow I shall answer all your questions of course...â He said a bit worried, he had never being in that situation, and he wouldnât know if It was a funny situation or something to be worried about, it was obvious that the blond princess had taken a bit more of wine, a thousand times he cared for Roy on that state, but her fiancĂŠ drunk was something he didnât imagined he would be seeing someday.
-âTomorrow! Not tomorrow! I donât want you to marry her!â She said pulling his brooch to herself, they were so close to each other and that made him nervous, Zeldaâs hand touched his cheek, her blushing face with eyes half open were getting closer and closer to his face, Marth admited that her eyes were deep enough to lose himself, and by some reason he didnât wanted that momento to end, but he also could not take advantage of her state, so about to put a hand on her shoulder to stop her, the princess threw up, ruining Marthâs clothes, he stood up taking her hair so she wouldnât stain her own, as she kept going on and on in the near garden.
Soon Impa was near them from the entrance.
-âMy goodness! I owe you an apology your highness! Iâll take care of her nowâ She said alarmed, looking at her and at his clothes.
Marth took off his cape and wrapped it around her, she sat in the garden box, about to lay down to sleep, he took her in his arms softly.
-âPlease, allow me to carry the princessâ he gallantly said to Impa
They took the side stair so the other guests wouldnât realize, walking silently to her room.
-âThis is a very difficult time for her. As a personal favour I have a simple request, please do not pretend to hurt young Zelda, as she has her reasons to continue with the engagement, you may know she did not agree on it from a beginning, same as you I presumeâ she said calmly, worried only for the princess well being.
-âI know, Iâm not pretending to deceive her, I confess I didnât considered the marriage to be rather droll, but there is something about her that made me stay, her message took me by surprise sealing the arrangement. Now I have given my word and I wonât fail her, Iâll take care of her from now onâ
The princeâs words resonated in the empty halls of the castle. Maybe he realized Impaâs relationship with Zelda was more of a mother than any other.
-Thank you, Iâll be here watching her always too. And by the way, there are extra clothes in your roomsâ Impa stated, reaching her room, she carried her so she could take her into her bed. Marth insisted she should have his cape.
-âI donât want you to marry herâ Those words, what would Zelda mean by that, did she speak of herself in third person? Or someone else? He was meditating, into his memories an intrusive image of Zeldaâs lips came into his mind.
âI must be going nutterâ he said to himself
âThat I knew since I was bornâ he heard the familiar voice of his cousin, behind him.
âI think for once you are completely rightâ he told Roy
âFor a changeâ the red head laughed.
âI think I like herâ
They both walked to the room they shared in the castle, not before Roy gave him slaps on his back, asking what was wrong with the smell on his clothes.
Next morning, the princess had an elixir, prepared by Impa, which alleviated the headache she had, without any memory of how did she came to her room, if it werenât for the blue cape on her bed with the ruby brooch.
Once she went to the morning meeting, she found a big crowd among a messenger from the Gerudo tribe.
-âWhat is the meaning of this?â She asked, the crowd separated and the messenger could speak clearly in front of the princess.
-âYour majesty, Urbosa sent me, she humbly requests your presence along Linkâs, is an urgent matter, it seems there is an unusual situation on the east area, several of our tribe members are missing, and it might be a manifestation of the evilness againâ
Her words raised murmur again.
-âSilence, please. If it comes from Urbosa, Iâm sure it is something relevant, and it requires our presence, we are not sure it is related directly to Ganon, but I think I can leave you to take care of central Hyrule mattersâ
-âYouâr majesty, if I might say so, It is for greater benefit for you to have Prince Marth accompany you on this instanceâ a member of the council named Vaati suggested, the opinion was supported by other members, who said that if it he was going to be the next king, he should take record of the enemies of the kingdom, and that was seen as an opportunity to admire Falchionâs power, so even Zelda had to agree.
To be continued...

Ch 2 Compromises & more compromises.
Next Council meeting came up different than expected. They would simply not abandon the idea of the princess Zeldaâs marriage as soon as possible. During a week, all they discussed was about:
âYour father last words and last breath was hoping you took care of the kingdom! Your majesty, we are hoping you have not forgotten. Besides, your nephew Zaphire is still too youngâ
âThink about the benefits of a marriage, having turned seventeen and Six month old, we could confirm the union with Altea to assure the wedding, for Hyruleâs prosperity, that political business would guarantee the improvement of the cityâ
âPrincess... think about what your father would have wantedâ instigated Vaati, one of the youngest members of the council.
She was cornered. If she said no, she would be denoting weakness and denying prosperity and benefits for the economy of her people. But she could not hide, deep in her heart how much she hated the idea of marrying a complete stranger.
âOur people can prosper here, and now... wise man, you may send the messenger if you please, but you can not expect a wedding in less than six months. I still grieve for my father, the King. He is now in a sacred place, so I demand you do not make assumptions of what he would have wanted.â
The council had enough with that for an answer, but that jus gave her time before they forced her on what seemed inevitable.
Her gazed crossed with Linkâs, to her surprise he had accepted the charge of chief commander with a usual inexpressible face. At least that would keep him near, with the meetings, now that his role as her appointed knight was over. Maybe it was something forbidden and risky, to finally accept herself how she felt about him, but the proof was solid... every moment she thought about the warm feeling of love he made her have, the power of the triforce resonated in her, her hand would shine with light. Was there any possibility she confessed how she felt? What would be the consequence? Would she be left with unrequited love? Only imagining it made her stomach feel empty, made her feel she was falling from a cliff.
She was expecting to see Link on Monday, she dressed with a beautiful blue gown, and she even had perfume of roses on her, she would invite him to have dinner, just like the old times in the wild. But she found Link was gone. Later they informed her that he had requested to visit the Zoraâs kingdom. So that reminded her of ... princess Mipha.
She felt her heart heavy, painful sensation she tried to avoid all day long. Little they knew that a dark force was infiltrating, moving their own game to separate them in this moments of felt victory.
âSo... here I am... princess Miphyâ
Said his friend knight with a big smile. Zoraâs kingdom was sunny in that precise moment. Link had requested permission to be absent from the army and the council a couple of days. It seemed that the princess had something she wanted to show him.
âI... please come with me, there is something I must give you please!â She said with a reverence, repeating âpleaseâ with every sentenceâ he could far tell she was really nervous.
âItâs just me, thereâs no need of such formalityâ he said scratching his head.
âBut now you reminded me, with all this responsibility in Hyruleâs castle, Iâm beginning to feel as an important personâ he said bluffing as a joke to his childhood friend, even though she seemed distracted, something rare, as she always payed close attention to whatever he said.
She led him into a road near the waterfalls around the village. At first she intended to take him to Vah Ruta, but she remembered that the place would be crowded because they installed a big marketplace near the dam, where Vah Ruta was resting, she didnât wanted to lose more time, so she lead him behind one of the tallest waterfall of clear water, they went through a fancy zora door, reaching a big chamber. There rested a closed treasure chest in the center of the room, lightened by a ray of sunlight filtered from above,
Link was half naked now, he took off his champion tunic, his pants and his boots before crossing under the waterfall. He was used to it since he visited the kingdom as a kid, occasionally he would even play in the cliff jumping to the water for hours. He had a close relationship with king Dorphan too.
Mipha blushed slightly watching his naked torso, she began stuttering even more.
âLink... I have made this for youâ...
Link, curious and impatient, went right to the chest she was pointing. He didnât wait a second to hear what was inside, something he would regret later. He went right to it, and opened the treasure, asking if he could have it now at the same time.
Inside, he found a zora armor, a helmet and zora grieves.
With a serious expression, he observed slowly the beautiful design in the armor set. Mipha kept silent then, maybe he knew the meaning of that gesture.
âThis... is a zora armor set...â he said, touching it softly to get a feel of the texture, his eyes were bright with excitement .
âLink... humm.., I must tell you that...â
âThis is the coolest thing ever!!!! Mipha, does this make me a faster swimmer?..â
âYes, youâll swim faster, and you can ascend big waterfalls going versus water current... but... listen... Link...â
While he was trying to listen, Link was already putting on the armor set. It was a perfect fit, something unexpected, because if it was made with a zora pattern, he expected it to be a little big for him, because all Zora were taller than him.
When Mipha got his attention back, Link was already putting the helmet on.
âSo... Itâs a very special... item.. because..â
âOf course itâs special! Itâs perfect! How did you know it would fit me?â He said, stretching his arms and jumping a little while mumbling that the color was so cool and the liberty of movements, he just didnât let the Zora princess finish any of her sentences.
âLink!... listen!... that armor set... is for my future husband!â
It was just then that he kept silence and turned to face her, analyzing her words.
âI... I handcrafted it carefully, and I... made it for you... with all my love... Link... do you remember the day you killed the Linel?... it ...it all started that day... I fell in love with youâ
He stared at the princess, the young zora was bowing in front of him, as a sign of respect. If she could be more red, her blushing face would have been noted on her delicate features. Her eyes were closed tightly, she seemed about to cry.
âMipha...â he said, walking towards her slowly, his eyes wide open, he felt now like he was in a sort of unreal dream, expecting to wake up any moment. Her love confession was truly an unexpected surprise for the hylian.
âMipha... I care for you deeplyâ he said, raising her chin with his hand, so she would look back at him, putting his other hand on her head.
âI know... this may sound unfair... but... I have always thought of you as my family... and I really would like to offer something so precious like you are feeling right now about me... it doesnât matter if we are Hylian or Zora...â and making a pause he continued
âI know... you will find the most special person for you... I am sure you will!... Iâm really sorry Mipha...â
And making a deeper bow in front of her, he continued on a more formal way. He didnât want to loose her long time friend, into his mind appeared images of his childhood : them investigating dangerous mistery of the lost silver rupee, how they played and he defended her of river otoroks, or when she showed him exited his new baby brother Sidon along with many other memories, as much as he didnât want to hurt her, he couldnât offer what she expected of him.
-âI... had the impression... it was unrequitedâ she answered. A silent tear running down her cheek and a forced smile placed on her lips.
-âIs it... that you have someone special already Link?â She asked quickly cleansing the tear away from her face
-âI promise, the moment I find her, youâll be the first one to knowâ he answered offering his small finger to lace it with hers
-âItâs a promiseâ
And joining pinkys, they were distracted by a young zora who came in walking hand in hand with little Sidon, who came kicking water playfully.
-âMy Mipha!â He ran to her when he saw her. The princess stoop down and carried him on her shoulders with a smile.
-âLink! I want Linkâs outfit! My Mipha is going to make me clothes like Linkâs!â He said convincingly, pointing at Linkâs armor.
The young Zora who came behind was Sidon caretaker. She apologized
-âIâm sorry, Princess Mipha, lord Sidon insisted so much we should look for you, I supposed you would be hereâ
Link bĂŠcame Awareness he was still wearing Zoraâs armor set, with such a significance he began undressing it.
âI... would like you to keep itâ Mipha said timidly, âAfter all... it is made only for youâ.
-âI canât accept such honorâ... said doubtfully the blue eyed hylian.
âPlease! Take it as a gift, for the heroe of the evil vanishing swordâ.
âI want it! My-Mi, make one for me, would you?â Said the little princess brother, bouncing on her shoulders, without knowing real significance of the matter.
âYes, yes. I will, but youâll see, a prettier Zora girl Itâs going to make a better one for you one dayâ Mipha told his little brother, tickiling his feet, so he inocently laughed.
âNo! My-Mi is the preeeeetiest Zora of allâ he answered, opening his arms to the air.
âOf course she isâ Link claimed, and so they all began walking to the waterfall exit..
Itâs not that Link didnât wanted to try the zora armor, or that he wouldnât like to have said hello to the king of the Zora, it was just that uncomfortable silence, he didnât know if he had to explain if having the armor, people might think he was in fact now the princess fiancĂŠ, and it would be all missunderstood as next royal - son in law.
He also didnât want to take it off, so he wouldnât hurt Mipha more than he already felt he had, so he decided to return to Hyrule as soon as possible, so he parted, with formal goodbye to the siblings. As expected, Mipha didnât insist on him staying, most likely she would not fancy seeing him for a while, action he perfectly understood.
â-See you in a month on Hyrule!â He said, taking the road to Hyrule.
Once he was out of sight, Mipha took Sidon off her shoulders, and sat on the ground near the water. Silent tears came flowing non stop.
âMy Mipha? Are you Iâll?â Sidon came near, touching her face.
âDoes it hurt?l he asked with big child eyes, about to start crying too.
âYes... it hurts. I will be ok, little oneâ She said, taking her face to her knees.
-â Sidon, let us find some wild flowers to cure your sister, I need your helpâ Her nany said, Sidon, eager to help took her hand and they left the princess alone, after all, it was going to be hard to cure a broken heart.
Mind blank, that was the journey back Hyrule, So much have happened in so little time.
Many matters were required at his return, and what he imagined it would be short vacation with the Zora, came as a sad situation.
-âSometimes I feel really stupidâ he talked with his horse, reprimanding himself for not realizing Miphaâs feelings towards him. How long would she felt that way? Would it have been different having known them? It was frustrating not to find a solution, not to be able to help all of those who were important to him.
In the meantime on Hyrule.
Once morning meeting was finished, Zelda went personally to supervise contstruction site in the outskirts. She felt heaviness on her soul since early morning. On her mind, it only occured that, without the duty of being her appointed knight, Link didnât have to be after her all the time. A year had being enough to pass from despise to longing.
Impa walked towards her, accompanied by two man of a peculiar aspect, one of them was red head like fire, without hylian ears, wich was considered flamboyant for the villagers, and people around. He was being followed by a taller man, with a black cloak covering his hair, and part of the face... or was it a tall woman? For the fine features of itâs face, and the slim body, it was hard to tell.
âPrincess Zelda, ... they...uhhâ that was all Impa was able to murmur, referring to the red haired man.
âItâs such an honor, to meet you at last your majesty, a lot has been spoken about your beauty on the literature, on the land that we are from! But it does not make justice to the real muse, who inspires all those wisdom poems, sang on realm festivitiesâ He said theatrically, reaching her and taking her hand to make a greeting and giving Zelda a quick kiss on her cheek, that was a real surprise.
âImpa, I trust you are going to tell me what is this aboutâ. As shocked as she was, she wasnât sure if she should be laughing or upset.
âThey come from Altea..â the Sheikah answered unceremoniously, that erased the little smile from her face.
âI imagine you are here for the answer to your future King, prince Marthâ she asked directly. âWell, Incan go ahead and tell you that Iâm sorry you travelled this far, but princess Zelda in unwilling to have a marriage...â
âPrincess, you are mistaken, please hear this humble peasants, my name is Raphael, Iâm a land worker, who achieved a degree on architecture, so I was sent as a help to rehabilitate your beautiful kingdom, as help from a neighbor kingdom.
âAnd your servant I presume, is...â
âHe is my bodyguard, Ling, a pawn who was sent to protect me from the roads, even squire, if you would excuse him, he is not instructed on reading and writingâ . He stood silent to such statements, raising his head a little.
âSo, were you both farmers?â She asked, uncertain of his words, their hands, even covered in half gloves, didnât seem of a man who had worked tilling the ground
âYes! We were, your real majesty, we hope not to be a bother, so made clear our only objective is to help with the reconstruction and devastation your kingdom suffered.
âIn that case, you are welcome, I trust my most trusted guardian Impa wil, find you a acomodation, shall you follow me please, I was just heading to talk to architect headmasters to deal with house constructionâ
Both look themselves for a second before following her.
On purpose, she took the road near vegetable plot, many hylians were working there, hylian whom dedicated all their lives to farm and grow plants.
-âGood morning Mr Talem, I see that carrots are going wellâ
The old man, seeing it was the Princess herself, made a bow in one knee, rising after her signal to come closer.
-âYes, it is, we are hoping fertile lands this years your majestyâ he politely answered with a smile.
-âThis lords here, will be more than happy to give you some advice, how long is the harvest period for carrots in Altea? Lord Raphael?
The red head stood still, looking from Zelda, to the farmer and then Zelda again.
-âWell, your majesty, carrots on Altea have a 15 day period to harvestâ
Both, Zelda and Mr Talem made a surprised face, and Zelda raised an eyebrow incredulous
-âThatâs really fast sir, you have to tell me the way to achieve that in or landsâ Talem said, taking off his hat in front of Raphael.
âAnd the big hearted radish, so abundant in Altea, we also grow it here, how long does it take you to harvest? Sir Raphael? She inquired again.
-âOh... of course! Only two weeks of a good irrigation of fresh spring water, and youâll have it ready for a salad! â he answered without a doubt.
Talem looked at him with bright eyes, and bowed several times, asking him to teach Alteaâs harvesting tips
-âSome other day, Talem now I have to take them with the architectsâ
Impa followed a steps behind Zelda, who went ahead inside a tent installed for construction workers, going inside with both characters.
-âSo, foreigners, maybe in Altea there is some magic to fertilize your vegetables so much so they grow twice as fast, or maybe you are just mot aware that the big heart turnip is exclusive of the Lands of Hyrule, but Iâd like to know your real purpose here, Are you spies? Because is now clear to me that you were not farmers. I knew prince Marth was unorthodox, but sending spies to Hyrule?â She told them, on a more upset tone, walking around the tent.
Raphael got a bit nervous.
-âWell, you see.. what really happens is...â
The young man on dark cloak, who had been silent until now, with one movement revealed himself under the fabric, unveiling his blue hair and white skin, and blue eyes like his hair, he was really good looking at first sight.
-âItâs ok, Royâ he told the red headed, touching his shoulder. âPrincess Zelda, it has been imprudent of me to put ourselves on this situationâ he told to the blond girl, his voice was deep and manly for his complexion.
-âAllow me to introduce myself, my name is Marth Lowell, heir prince of Alteaâ
Zelda couldnât believe her ears, the prince himself on Hyrule? And it was quite not what she imagined, among her calculation, he should have at least twice her age.
-âIs it not that Marth was born on 52e after the first cataclysm?...â
-âIâm sorry for that confusiĂłn, here it is, Falchion sword to prove myself, I know that whomever wrote my birth date, in a couple of copies of Alteaâs genealogical tree, changed mine with my cousin, Ike, but my year of birth is bear, meaning Iâm nineteen years old, this year Iâll be twenty your highnessâ he said, while unfolding a package revealing a beautiful sword, with golden handle, embedded with a beautiful ruby on center and an emerald at the left, covered with a blue fine sheath. Impa, who was lĂmete IMG from outside, went inside the tent, side with the Princess.
-âThe moment news arrived to my father of the proceeding of our engagement, I wanted to personally come without pretending to mean any offense, to meet you at least once before allowing others to make a choice in my place, so that is why I made our presences so discreet
âDidnât succeed at allâ she thought to hersel, instead of making themselves familiar, they made themselves more noticeable among hylians.
-âSo... now that you know me, and my kingdom, I suppose your interests on the engaging has decreased, as you see, we are recovering with many projectsâ she stated on a diplomatic way, as she never thought she would have to reject the prince personally, but it was easier if he rejected the union first.
-âOn the contrary. Knowing Hyrule, and meeting you... has only increased my longing to concrete a possible alliance between our kingdomâ
Part of fanfic chapter 2, what if Zelda woke her power on time? Then Mipha would have been able to properly confess
âI... this power... it happens when...â
And seeing her hand closely, closing her eyes she imagined her knight once more hugging her, while she blushed fiercely when she opened her eyes and saw the triforce glowing once more.
âFinally your prayers have worked!â Affirmed Link, excited to know the princess had accomplished her mission at last, something he know she was deeply troubled about.
âWell... this... is an unexpected surprise... the way my powers are...â she mentioned blushing, evading the young manâs eyes, her heart was pounding fast.
âWe have to tell the champions! And of course to the king!â Link said determined, happy to share the good news, even if Zelda didnât seemed happy about it, she seemed more confused than happy.
âItâs almost mid day,... yes... it would be better if we reunite with Daruk... and the others.â She said feeling a little down.
They saw the four figures waiting for them on the road. It was Princess Mipha, Revali, Daruk and Urbosa. All expecting anxiously.
Zelda arrived with a concerned look on her face, still meditating in telling them that the source of her power was non other than... her feelings for Link.
âAnd? Donât leave us in suspense!â Said Daruk watching them approach.
âIt worked... the power to fight evil was manifested, the power of light... or that itâs what I think soâ she said, showing them her hand glow and expanding the power at her will, blushing while watching Link in the corner of her eye staring at her.
Daruk cheered, while Urbosa hugged her with a smile, Mipha was happy too, and Revali came close to her, touching her forehead.
âI hope you didnât catch a fever your majesty... your face seems completely red, and itâs likely so much commotion can make you fatiguedâ he said in a worried face.
âIâm... ok, in fact... I had a vision of the future... guardians and sacred beasts turned against us and... Link... I have something important to tell you...â she said stuttering, looking down, something unusual on her, she was always directly straight to the point.
Retaking this fic of mine I left floating in cyber space a while ago, hope you like it, this is a fragment of chapter one, as soon as I draw next fanart, Iâll upload the second one.

Ship?
And I keep drawing my fanfic. Iâd be happy to make it an entire doujinshi đ Here, Zelda realizes what the source of her power is...(Love feelings for her appointed knight)
Ch 1 Princess Awakening
What if Zelda had her power on time? Link x Zelda x Marth (ooc) *******
It was the last chance of success. Lanayruâs spring. She was prepared, tradition said she had to fasten and dress in white, just like priestess who dedicated their lives to the goddess did back in the temple of time. Link watched her from a nearby place under a tree, looking for any sign of an enemy around, yet the day was quieter than usual, he didnât feel any threath close. He knew all other champions would be waiting for them by the mid of the day, on the nearby road leading to the bridges built in the compound. The princess seemed tranquil, but she couldnât deny her true despair to obtain her power, whathever that implied. Morning air felt fresh on her skin. Zelda went deep into the spring and started praying.
âGoddess, I find myself in a humble manner, to ask for your assistance on this difficult times, please allow your wisdom toâŚâ
Suddenly, on her head she felt an aching pain, like thunder pearcing her mind, she strongly closed her eyes, and when she opened them, she was horrified of what she was seeing: Fire consuming field around her, the sky was dark, several ef the guardians built by sheikah people were glowing in a bright red light, causing chaos and destruction. Suddenly she saw an image of herself standing on a nearby place and then she saw him.
âLink! Thatâs not me!â She tried screaming, without making any sound, horrified seeing a laser pointing right at her knightâs heart, who was badly injured and covered in mud, about to sacrifice his own life for her, or what seemed a clon of herâŚ
âStop! Please!!!â She had to stop this none sense, she ran towards Link what seemed to be hours, she didnât wanted to lose him⌠not him. Her body reacted faster than her mind could think, she couldnât conceive a world without him.
Suddenly, watching something unusual, same as her own reflection, she put herself in front of her protector, raising one hand and making a big sphere of light, her body went trough her reflection simultaneously, like an ethereal being, fusing itself and releasing that power in a ray of light trough the whole field, the guardian in front of them and all the others ceased their activity, falling to the ground and turning their pieces into a bright blue.
âZelda! Zelda! Princess!â Said the young man by her side. The first thing she saw when she opened her eye lids were the blue eyes of her appointed knight looking at her from a short distanceâ
âBlue⌠they at blue now⌠just like your eyesâ
Blushing, and still on the ground Link took some distance from the princessâ face and asked âPrincess⌠that light⌠How was it possible? Has your power manifested at last?â He spoke smiling
âI⌠what happened?â She asked realizing Link was wet from his waist down, and seeing she was below the tree he was before.
âAfter a minute I saw you raise your hand, and a big ball of light appeared in front of you in the middle of a strong wind current, the whole thing exploded, after that you fainted into the water and.. I brought you hereâ he explained with exaggerated hand gestures and bright eyes.
Her mind was spinning. She remembered the scene where she was in the middle between the guardian and⌠âLink!â She screamed, while she jumped to his arms, hugging him and burning her head on his chest, tears began flowing incessantly, and her weeps broke the silence of that place.
The young knight didnât know how to react, and his hand remained down, hugging her softly moments after. Her crying didnât stop, among her babbling he heard the phrase
âDonât die pleaseââŚ
âPrincessâŚâ he said, not so sure of how to continue his phrase
âIâm here⌠I wonât leave, Iâll protect you⌠alwaysâ
When she heard those words, she felt a warm sensation coming from her chest, the marks of the trifurca on her hand began glowing in a spectacular way, while around her an aura of wind began forming, like a current which made her hair and the trees nearby move along.
This broke the hug they were on, and the light went out.
âI⌠this power⌠it happens whenâŚâ
And seeing her hand closely, closing her eyes she imagined her knight once more hugging her, while she blushed fiercely when she opened her eyes and saw the triforce glowing once more.
âFinally your prayers have worked!â Affirmed Link, excited to know the princess had accomplished her mission at last, something he know she was deeply troubled about.
âWell⌠this⌠is an unexpected surprise⌠the way my powers areâŚâ she mentioned blushing, evading the young manâs eyes, her heart was pounding fast.
âWe have to tell the champions! And of course to the king!â Link said determined, happy to share the good news, even if Zelda didnât seemed happy about it, she seemed more confused than happy.
âItâs almost mid day,⌠yes⌠it would be better if we reunite with Daruk⌠and the others.â She said feeling a little down.
They saw the four figures waiting for them on the road. It was Princess Mipha, Revali, Daruk and Urbosa. All expecting anxiously.
Zelda arrived with a concerned look on her face, still meditating in telling them that the source of her power was non other than⌠her feelings for Link.
âAnd? Donât leave us in suspense!â Said Daruk watching them approach.
âIt worked⌠the power to fight evil was manifested, the power of light⌠or that itâs what I think soâ she said, showing them her hand glow and expanding the power at her will, blushing while watching Link in the corner of her eye staring at her.
Daruk cheered, while Urbosa hugged her with a smile, Mipha was happy too, and Revali came close to her, touching her forehead.
âI hope you didnât catch a fever your majesty⌠your face seems completely red, and itâs likely so much commotion can make you fatiguedâ he said in a worried face.
âIâm⌠ok, in fact⌠I had a vision of the future⌠guardians and sacred beasts turned against us and⌠Link⌠I have something important to tell youâŚâ she said stuttering, looking down, something unusual on her, she was always directly straight to the point.
Suddenly an earthquake felt in the place. Several birds flew from the trees, it seemed the place was filling with heavy air, difficult to breath. Then they saw it. A dark cloud was covering Hyruleâs castle. The four guardians looked each other.
âPrincess! It was the perfect day to awake your power.â Urbosa said with a big smile âWeâll need it soonâ âWait⌠if as I sense, evil must have conquered the beasts. Itâs dangerous to go alone. Revali, please take us to Vah Medo, I have to make sureâ
They were teleported quickly, a feature she had managed to discover, directly to the sacred beasts. She in fact sensed an evil residing inside the giant bird, a demon, a part of Ganon. Then forming a great ray of light she managed to materialize the dark entity inside the beast, it was then, assisted by the other champions managed to end this demon and asses the final blow. Scared, Revali pronounced
âThat⌠thing could have taken my life in a second, I owe you my life Princess.â He bowed in front of the princess.
âThis was team work, I think you should thank Link in all caseâ
Link, who distractedly cleaned the master sword slightly turned, watching Revali make a small bow reluctantly
âDonât worry about it⌠we have to check on the other sacred beastsâ
Revali stood up quickly and flought riding Vah Medoh.
The rest of them teleported to Vah Ruta, Vah Naboris and Vah Rudania respectively, banishing the evil from their cores.
The battle against Calamity Ganon was something people would talk for ages. As well as not everybody were unharmed, most of the people managed to survive, even if their homes needed reconstruction.
Once at the partially collapsed castle, Zelda couldnât think on anything but her father. She ran on the halls until she finally found Impa, followed by several doctors covered on dust, carrying several herbs and elixirs.
âFollow me Princess.â She said bluntly, and they ran to one of the rooms hidden beneath the library. There, on a simple bed and guarded by two castle guards and a council member was her father, and despite a blanket covering him, she watched the blood coming out of his ribs.
âDad! Father!âŚâ she ran to his side. âWe have to call Mipha! Sheâll be here in a second, hang on!â She said, tears began forming on her eyes.
The King, slowly opening his eyes watched her daughter beside him.
âZelda⌠Iâm sorry⌠I should have spent more timeâŚâ then a cough attack silenced him. Watching the handkerchief drench in blood from the expectoration.
âItâs ok dad!⌠Iâm here, please donât force yourself⌠Link, please find MiphaâŚ!â She said almost imploring while she kept holding his fatherâs hand. The knight, without saying a word turned and began running outside.
Doctors gave the king a fairy elixir, which ceased most of the pain for a moment. âMy daughter⌠please listen to me⌠my time has come, I have seen the goddesses, âŚI just want you to promise youâll take care of HyruleâŚâ
âAlways! I promise Iâll care for HyruleâŚâ she said crying
âAnd another thing⌠I want you⌠to have by your side⌠aâŚâ And slowly the hand she was holding stopped holding her back.
âFather? PleaseâŚ. no! ⌠no! Papa! ..â
A doctor confirmed the King had no pulse. The member of the council wrote down all the Kingâs last words and the time of death.
Rhoam Bosforamusâ spirit could only pronounce in a whisper âBe happy⌠and have by your side whoever your heart tells youâ then ascending into the sky, unknowingly for the people in the room.
Link ran like he had never before. She found Mipha on Hyruleâs river near the town, talking with her father and Muzu, her mentor. Taking her hand he said up front âCome with me! I need youâ. The blushing zora princess followed him, leaving her father an Muzu speechless.
They were both teleported by the Sheikah tablet to a nearby spot near the castle. Link hold her hand strongly. It was like a dream for her.
âItâs about the King Rhoamâ he said with a serious expression while they entered the castle, without noticing the desappointed face of her friend.
When they arrived, Impa was outside the garden.
âLink⌠there is no need⌠the King is goneâŚâ
âBut!âŚâ
âOnce Ganon began invading town, several towers collapsed⌠he was found under some giant bricks, one of his lungs had a severe bleeding⌠I think he lasted this much just to see⌠Zelda.â
Link, looking down could just turn to the nearest wall and punch it, leaning on it after.
Mipha looked at him, then to a room nearby where probably was the deceased King, walking nearby she could hear the princess crying.
The ceremony which should have been a celebration turned into a funeral.
There were representatives of the four regions of Hyrule, including the champions.
It was something simple, with all the destruction among the kingdom they couldnât afford a big funeral. The burial was held in the sacred land beneath the temple of time. A lot of people offered different flowers from all the land. Some Rito members were singing a solemn melody, worth of a King.
Link was behind the princess at all moments. After all he was still his appointed knight. Finally when the ceremony was over, Revali came near the princess, and said.
âYour majesty, just so you know you Iâll be always at your service, you have my loyalty and my tribeâs too. Hope itâs not an inconvenience for me to pay you a visit every month or so to help with the restorationâŚâ
âCome on! We know you still want to keep in touch with the Princess! Said Urbosa, making Revali jump.
âIn fact it sounds great if we can reunite every month or so for any novelty, what say you? Daruk, Mipha⌠us Gerudo will keep with the trade agreements as always, especially on this times of need, Iâll assign a squad to help you restore the kingdom.â
âI think⌠Itâs a good ideaâ Mipha said shyly. âWeâll improve the water suplyingâŚâ
âI hope youâll not be forgetting about us, your brother Goron are here to help on anything your majesty, now shall we call you Queen Zelda?â
âDaruk, donât rush thingsâ Urbosa quickly reprimand her friend.
âWeâll⌠according to the law⌠I still canât have that title.â She answered with a smile.
âBesides, I have always encouraged you to call me just Zelda⌠after all, weâre friends⌠right? Thank you, Urbosa, Revali, Daruk, Mipha. For being here for me and my people.â
Link was in silence behind them, after long farewells, he was about to follow the princess back to the castle, but he felt his tunic being pulled.
âLink⌠there is something ⌠important I have to give you⌠is it possible you can visit me in the zora village⌠letâs say⌠in a week?â
âWhat is it about Mipha? You know how curiosity canât leave me aloneâ he answered with a warm smile. She blushed without him noticing, due to her skin tone, just repeating before leaving.
âA week pleaseâŚâthen she ran to her caravan.
Clouds began forming above the sky of Hyrule. It seemed it would rain soon, so they went back to the castle, guards, council and the princess followed by Link.
The council had their meeting, giving the princess a free day to mourn her father, before planning the organization of resources.
She didnât say a word. Link followed her, thinking about scouting her to her bed chambers, but she took a different direction towards a beautiful rectangular garden with open sky with a fountain in the middle. Some little flowers planted in an irregular manner.
âThank you⌠for everythingâ she said without facing the knight, in a solemn way, as if she was about to give him a speech.
âWithout your help, I donât know what could have happenedâ a tear began rolling down her cheek. She looked down and her head, leaning her forehead on her appointed knightâs chest, she felt warm despite the coat of mail he was wearing.
âYouâll think Iâm weak⌠itâs just thatâŚâ she continued
âYou donât have to worry princessâŚâ he said, taking her by her shoulders, letting her cry freely. Soft rain started above them
Impa entered the garden slowly, like not wanting to ruin the atmosphere, both turned to see her, taking a step back from themselves.
âLink⌠council hopes youâre present on your first reunionâ
âOf courseâŚâ he said, touching the princess shoulder, and giving her a comprehensive look, walking to the councilâs room. Zelda cleaned her face with the sleeve of her dress, and ran to hug Impa. âCry, cry my child, soon youâll have to keep showing your strength to the world, cry nowâ she said caressing her hair.
He had never being in a royal council meeting. They were reserved for higher ranks, council members, and the King. The moment the hero crossed the door there was a heated discussion.
âWe can not modify the law, because of the Kingâs last wishesâ âThe Princess protected the kingdom! There is no one more suited and with royal blood to rule thisâŚ!!â âDo not forget the Kingâs sister, she has a son, sucesor by rightâŚâ âHer son is just a kid, is eight years old!â âThat right succession of the throne is only valid if the princess is not married in a monthâ âBut a marriage, one month after the funeral! Is not ethical!â
Link stepped to sit by the side of the only known face he had, the head commander Van.
âI see youâre here, come, they are arguing who will rule Hyrule, they are going to vote on the best choiceâ
âWhoever thinks the princess has to marry her childhood bethroted so peace and prosperity shall reign on Hyrule, raise your handâ
Most of the council members voted, excepting some.
By the heroâs mind just crossed one thought. Indignation. That stupid law which forbid a woman to reign for herself despite all her efforts, despite that if she hadnât woke her power they all would be most likely⌠dead. No one knew Hyrule like she did, she had traveled everywhere, no one had more right to rule than her.
âSo, prior aproving of the princess, we will send a messenger to the kingdom of Altea to reach her fiancĂŠe, prince Marthâ
And ending the meeting, they all raised a minutes. The appointed knight couldnât believe what he just heard. Forcing up a marriage to the benefit of the kingdom âI couldnât expect to travel with her foreverâ he thought for himself.
âAnd this is like that my boy! We as the defense for the kingdom have not much of a saying in this matters, unless is relevant for the armyâ said the old general, finishing his last sip of water from the golden cup in front of him.
âWhy have I been summoned? This are not matters Iâm used to deal withâŚâ âI did⌠Iâm planning on retiring soon, people is grateful with you, just now you are the image of the perfect leader they need, even I would propose you as the new kingâ he said, blinking an eye.
âSadly, things donât work that way⌠I have to name you as my successor, I have spoken with captains, and despite your short age, they all voted you are the best choice, also honoring your fatherâ.
âI donât know what to sayâŚâ said the blue eyed young man, picturing himself as chief commander, watching for the training of recruits, attending those meetings, carrying all his duties in Hyrule⌠his idea of the future was a bit differentâŚ
âIâll wait for your answer tomorrow⌠ask your pillow about itâ
Council meeting continued with some matters, hosting some citizens in the castle, reconstruction of the homes beginning by the east, provisional farms, after mentioning the sleepy Link, who was falling asleep on his hand over the table.
âTalking about the hero here present, chosen by the sword which dispels evil, as a payment for his services, we honor him with a home in Kakariko, provided with all the comfort he deserves, tomorrow, if he chooses to, he will be appointed as our new chief commander of Hyruleâs armyâ
He felt all eyes on him, mostly approving looks of many old members and some younger, an applause was made, and he made a sudden bow.
The old chief insisted he should take the charge the next day, while on his mind was something he couldnât avoid thinking: Zelda.
He was still lying on his bed in the barracks with his candle on, some soldiers were snoring in the other beds. He was offered a room in the castle, but he preferred to go back to the place he had always felt more peaceful.
But that night was different. The thought of watching himself tied forever to a position didnât seem ideal, even though there was something it bothered him the most. Imagining Zelda married to a faceless old man. He reprimanded his own selfish unproper thoughts, after all he was just a knight, he owned loyalty to her Queen.
He imagined kneeling down to the foreign King and swearing loyalty, watching how he took the princess away, and having to personally train their royal faceless kids. No. It was something he couldnât do⌠he didnât wanted to do.
âAnd what if she doesnât approve the commitmentâŚâ another unproper thought. Those were not the princess wishes, those were his wishes.
âI canât let my own opinions interfere with my jobâŚas a knightâ
So, the next morning he woke up early than usual, having slept so little, he went into the castle, walking near the area where the citizens were sheltered, he found the last person he expected.
The princess, who was in that moment organizing some people to prepare big pots with breakfast. For the smell, they seem to be doing some endura carrotâs chicken soup and Hyruleâs herb tea.
âLink! You are.. hereâ she said nervously fixing her hair behind her pointy earâ
âI am going to turn down the chief commanderâs offer to take his placeâ
She stepped aside to avoid curious looks, and whispering, giving him a small plate with soup.
âI get it⌠I think my appointed knight has his own plans for the futureâŚâ she nodded with a smile.
âI trust they have informed you about ⌠your next⌠duty⌠to marryâŚâ he didnât know how to say it without sounding odd.
âWhat duty?! Are you talking about that old commitment from when I was born?!â She answered on a loud voice, becoming the center of attention of a mother and their child who were getting in line to get some soup.
âI wonât marry!⌠Iâm still seventeen!⌠the council will have to wait⌠or bring my nephew⌠or wait at least a year⌠so I Can decide on marrying some âŚunknown princeâŚâ she said dubious
Was Link asking her about her own decision on marrying? Was it possible he felt the same way she did
To Link, her words were a bucket of warm water. He was on better mood and he enjoyed the soup she had given him.
âI have always liked endure carrotsâ.
Hope you like this FF, and I appreciate feedback on my grammar, as English is not my native language. This will continue! check on the fanart I made about this fanfic đ
Another quick drawn fanart version of my fanfic (adobe draw on iPad) đ Part 3... While in Lanayruâs spring on her seventeenth birthday Zelda had a vision of the future where Link sacrificed for her, so she manifested her power on time, after waking from her vision, she also discovered her true feelings. (Not that she confessed them immediately) (Come on! Hug her now!...)
Fanart I made back in 2008 for a deviantart contest I canât believe it was 10 years ago
Here I am, ilustrating my fanfic, where this team has to go to Gerudo city and help Urbosa (yes, she is alive along all champions because Zelda woke her power on time) Marth is Zeldaâs fiancĂŠ by now, since childhoodâŚâ¨*
Kouka, Urbosaâs assistant interruptedâ¨â
Princess, if itâs not an issue for you, we could give them a special vai outfit, so this voe can enter the city to save time! ââ¨â
Let us do it princess, I can tell you are concerned, so I don!ât mind changing my clothes for a Gerudo outfitâ pronounced prince Marth walking towards Koukaâs tent.
â¨âWell⌠itâs not like⌠sort ofâŚâ answered Zelda dubious, looking towards Link who nervously avoided her, following Marth and Roy who were already changing clothesâ¨â
You must be jokingâ Royâs voice and laugh was heard from inside the tent â¨âYou have to admit that as a read head I look more Gerudoishâ said Roy laughing again, after a moment both Altean came out of the tent.
Zelda, who was drinking water from a canteen choked, coughing the rest of the water.â¨Link came to view after, leaving the rest with their mouth open, including Impa.
â¨âŚâ¨âYou are next, princess!â Said Kouka, taking her arm and taking her inside. âI have something Urbosa sent just for youââ¨âBut I⌠donâtâ she replied nervous â¨âComeâ on! If you are gonna be Gerudo for one day, guided by a Sheika, you have to dress similarâ she explained.â¨
In a few minutes, a blushing Zelda came out of the tent, letting her arms in front of her abs and chest timidly. She have never had such a light outfit, but it felt refreshing after all due to the extreme climate
â¨âIsnât she an angel?â Said Kouka smiling, while styling her hair on a ponytail â¨Link and Marth blushed after seeing her, Roy smiled while performing his own interpretation of seven veil dance
â¨âStop it, you donât have to look at meâ she said embarrased with a nervous laugh after feeling the stare of the young men, particulary Link.
â¨âNow I feel less embarrased, we are dressed the same Princess! You look beautiful with that Gerudo outfitâ said Marth smiling and offering his hand to help her down the stair, without releasing her hand for a minute, to Linkâs dismay.
â¨Without saying a word, the knight streched his hand to give her the Sheikah tablet she had left behind so she could released the princeâs hand.
â¨Marth didnât let this go unnoticed, he was very observant.â¨*â¨
I already ended the fanfic, but itâs taking me time to translate it, soon in fanfiction.net
Is a VS. I just wondered the outfit Marth would have... VS Link. Because we all enjoy a love triangle
