a hand dealt by fate {Theo + Shiromi}
velvetattendant:
The gift of jewelry appears to have altered something in the girl. Though her eyes still share their frigid depths with that of Elizabethâs guest at the beginning he can feel the change in other aspects. Tone of voice, body language, and facial expression if he disregards those vacant eyes. The guest is always priority and he is glad to have assisted in bringing some emotion back to her. Perhaps she truly is like Elizabethâs guest. In that case he would like to assist her more - to watch those eyes warm up over time.
And maybe destiny agrees with him for she has given more than her name; another question fills the air. âA pleasure to meet you, Kosegawa-san.â he says before giving a respectful bow. Though she has given her name in the western order she is clearly Japanese and so he replies with the proper gesture. Theo may not know here he is truly from but itâs nice to meet someone from the country he grew up in.
In answer to her question, âIt depends on what you wish to ask of the cards.â The shift in her gaze does not go unnoticed and the desire to help the girl all but consumes him. She seemed⊠discontent? Family problems can do that he supposes. Though his sisters always teased him they never took it very far and his previous guest had no family to speak of. Itâs not his area of expertise. Though isnât that when you seek outside sources for help?
Theo  walks back to the round table, beckoning for her to follow. He will give her a reading if that is what she wishes, but as she is uncertain itâs best to clarify. The guest must always understand their options. And if not then at least she can sit down while they talk. He wonât do anything but explain just yet and as such takes no seat himself, but rather does as he had done for most of his life; stand beside the chair. Back at the Velvet Room it was Igor there for the longest time. Itâs somewhat surreal, the fact that now he gets to be the one doing the readings.
Setting the compendium down on the tablecloth he continues, âOne must always remember that the cards are not the answer, merely the means to find the answer within yourself.â A pause to let that sink in while he offers a reassuring smile. âAnd Iâm certainly no therapist, but if you would like to simply talk I wouldnât mind company. You remind me of someone I used to know.â
If the previous gentlemanly demeanor of the man had startled and troubled her, even more when he mentioned gifting her with that necklace, the Japanese style greeting did a great job of helping her relax. In a country so different from the one she had been born in, something as simple as a couple words were more than enough to bring calm to her heart. The frown untying itself from her forehead, she followed the man to the tarot table.
âT-the pleasure is mineâŠâ she adds in a soft tone, bowing twice nervously.
The situation and the man seemed to ask for her to sit down, so, after no more than a few minutes of hesitation, she sat down in one of the chairs, dim blue eyes staring up at the man as he talked. Legs still tired by the walk, she starting to swing them, front and back childishly.
A question for the cards. Not an answer but a guide. In her situation sheâd rather have a direct answer, a celestial type of sign. Yet this is more realistic, and so, she feels like she can trust in it. After all, the only one to know what is going on inside that house is her and her alone. She looks down at the table in front of her and then back up at the man.
She isnât sure the questions that flood her mind, threatening to drown her heart will be good for a Tarot reading. Yet, she remembers hearing that talking to a stranger can work wonders. She is desperate enough to wish for those wonders to happen, and so she decides to speak up. It might be the first time she talks about this to anyone, but how could she bother those close to her with such dark considerations?
