“you  think  i  need  your  money  ?  do  you  not  see  where  you’re  standing  ?”  he  raises  an  eyebrow  ,  nodding  in  faux  understanding  as  she  drones  on  and  on  .  slipping  through  one  canal  and  out  the  other  ,  “you  got  desperation  written  all  over  you  .  if  that  weren’t  the  case  ,  you  would  have  left  by  now  .”  he  walks  over  to  a  desk  in  the  corner  ,  licking  his  thumb  to  push  through  papers  before  settling  on  a  blank  sheet  .  “i’ll  tell  you  what  ,”  he  scribbles  down  on  it  ,  “here’s  his  number  .  he’s  in  la  right  now  ,  but  i’m  sure  he  can  catch  the  first  flight  tomorrow  morning  if  you’re  willing  enough  .”

‘   you   clearly   do   since   you’re   the   one   selling,   ’   can   tell   he’s   barely   listening   to   her,   wouldn’t   expect   anything   less   from   the   homme   despite   the   annoyance   that   settles   in.   ‘   i’m   not   desperate,   i   know   what   i   want   and   i’m   going   to   get   it.   there’s   a   difference,   holden.   ’   quick   to   fire   back,   won’t   let   him   tell   her   what   she   wants   to   keep   to   herself.   would   rather   save   herself   the   embarrassment   of   admitting   it,   even   if   it’d   be   easier   for   the   both   of   them.   glances   over   at   him   as   he   moves   towards   the   desk,   mouth   opening   to   speak   as   he   writes   onto   the   paper   but   can’t   seem   to   find   the   proper   words   to   refuse.   ‘   i’m   not   about   to   sleep   with   someone   for   a   baggy,   you’re   insane.   i   have   a   boyfriend.   ’

“then  go  .  you  think  i  give  a  fuck  ?”  he  can’t  help  but  keep  the  laughter  rolling  as  he  stares  at  the  other  ,  moving  to  open  the  door  for  her  .  reason  number  one  as  to  why  he  never  sold  to  messy  bitches  ,  they  were  always  too  rapid  with  the  mouth  .  he’ll  keep  a  reminder  to  check  her  in  his  shit  list  when  he’s  sober  .  “it’s  easy  ,  quinn  .  you  can  just  walk  out  the  door  ,  forget  this  ever  happened  .  i  won’t  hold  it  against  you  .  in  fact  ,  i’m  sure  dante  can  get  it  for  you  for  even  cheaper  ,  if  you  know  what  i  mean  .”

‘   i   think   you   should   when   it’s   messing   with   your   money,   ’   waves   a   finger   near   his   face   as   she   speaks,   eyes   following   his   hand   towards   the   knob   of   the   door.   doesn’t   make   a   difference   to   her,   she’s   too   persistent   to   leave   without   the   drugs   in   her   hand.   ‘   i   don’t   know   who   you   think   i   am,   but   i’m   not   that   desperate.   ’   but   she   is,   and   she   pushes   her   morals   aside   for   a   moment   to   take   in   the   suggestion   of   giving   some   random   a   night   with   her   in   exchange   for   a   fix.

‘   and   i   can   just   find   someone   else,   yeah   ?   ’   she   mocks   his   words,   hands   reaching   to   grab   for   the   bag   when   he   lifts   it.   ‘   and   i   don’t   think   you   fucking   deserve   my   money,   but   here   we   are.   i   get   the   bag   and   you   get   the   six   grand,   you   don’t   have   to   be   so   difficult.   ’

‘   i   don’t   need   anything   from   anyone,   and   especially   not   from   you,    ’   eyes   tell   a   different   story   as   they   follow   the   baggy   in   his   hands,   needing   to   get   it   into   her   possession   before   the   night   was   over   with.   ‘   or,   you   could   stop   being   a   pain   in   the   ass   so   that   i   get   my   drugs   and   you   get   your   money.   you   can   wait  a  day,   yeah   ?   i’ll  be   back   with   the   rest   tomorrow.   ’
