Importance of Shock Testing
While handling our electronic products in our day to day life, a common problem is being faced by almost all of us and that is making our electronic products experience shocks. These shocks could be due to any physical miss-happening that could be easily encountered by any individual amongst us. Many of us would have faced the common situation of the fall of our mobile phones, I-pods and various other gadgets on the floor. The first thing that strikes to our mind is, since the product belongs to a brand name in the market so we expect it to maintain this in its quality also.
The technique that makes this functionality comes true is the shock testing. It is the basic test that ensures the quality of the product, there by maintaining its (QOS) Quality of Service. Shock testing is the process to test the fragility of the product. This test also increases the durability of the product for its better usage and as a resultant of which satisfactory services could be delivered to the customer. Shock testing generates a high dynamic force within the unit under test that provides a resistance in adverse situations to the component of the specified product.
The general requirement for the shock testing includes the electrical, servo-hydraulic systems and for the traditional shock testing, mechanical shock machines were utilized apart from these impact testers and drop testers are also the equipments for the testing purpose.
Basically, shock testing can be broadly categorized into two categories:
Mechanical shock testing
Packaging design testing/Storage shock testing
The packaging design testing/storage shock testing are the testing techniques conducted to handle the damage issue of the components of the product during its storage and transportation.
Thereby, it is always a deal of profit to perform shock testing for a better product and better service.
