Lanai Nickname: The Pineapple Isle
Lanai (Hawaiian: Lānaʻi, Hawaiian: [laːˈnɐʔi, naːˈnɐʔi], /ləˈnaɪ, lɑːˈnɑːi/,[2] also US: /lɑːˈnaɪ, ləˈnɑːi/,[3][4]) is the sixth-largest of the Hawaiian Islands and the smallest publicly accessible inhabited island in the chain.[5] It is colloquially known as the Pineapple Island because of its past as an island-wide pineapple plantation.[6] The island's only settlement of note is the small town of Lanai City. As of 2012, the island was 98% owned by Larry Ellison, co-founder and chairman of Oracle Corporation;[7] the remaining 2% is owned by the state of Hawaii or is privately owned homes.[8][9]
Lanai is a roughly apostrophe-shaped island with a width of 18 miles (29 km) in the longest direction. The land area is 140.5 square miles (364 km2), making it the 43rd largest island in the United States.[10] It is separated from the island of Molokaʻi by the Kalohi Channel to the north, and from Maui by the Auʻau Channel to the east. The United States Census Bureau defines Lanai as Census Tract 316 of Maui County. Its total population rose to 3,367 as of the 2020 United States census,[1] up from 3,193 as of the 2000 census[11] and 3,131 as of the 2010 census.[12][13] As visible via satellite imagery, many of the island's landmarks are accessible only by dirt roads that require a four-wheel drive vehicle due to the lack of paved roadways.
There is one school, Lanai High and Elementary School, serving the entire island from kindergarten through 12th grade. There is also one hospital, Lanai Community Hospital, with 24 beds, and a community health center providing primary care, dental, behavioral health and selected specialty services in Lanai City.[14][15] There are no traffic lights on the island.

FLOW STATE | Russell Bierke from O'Neill Australia on Vimeo.
‘Bezerke’, Russell’s last major edit in 2016, signified his second rising after taking the crown at Cape Fear and showcasing his intent on riding whatever mass of ocean came his way.
Fast forward 3 years, Russ has been throwing himself into some overwhelmingly big caverns. Not only riding them, but confidently exposing unseen technical lines and approaches to waves of consequence. Calls of the greatest wave ever paddled into at Shipsterns have been aired, but lets not forget this is surfing. How anyone perceives a ride may be different to the next person. And to be frank, who gives a rats backside. It’s a peak moment in time for a peak individual. Arriving at the right place, right time and simply, not choking.
Flow State will take you an audio visual journey, as Russ pushes his own boundaries. Along the way, he gives us insight, into what makes him tick and how the hell his feet stay glued to his board in the most critical of situations.

MOCEAN. A film by Chris Bryan from Chris Bryan on Vimeo.
I love filming in the ocean more than anything, its not just a job, its a passion. And sometimes its nice just to document waves without surfers riding them. The feeling of jumping off the rocks in the dark by myself just to capture the very first rays of light hitting the ocean without another sole in sight is unexplainable, its one of the most amazing feelings ever, its like my own personal therapy. And to realise that you're the only person on this planet that got to witness these rare moments of absolute beauty as they happen is a really special feeling. And now im excited to share my experiences with you through my latest passion project "MOCEAN".
Heres some of my favourite moments from 2018. All images where shot using The Phantom Flex 4K camera with Leica Summilux lenses and Chris Bryan Films custom underwater housing's. Familiar Controls
This effect uses familiar brush controls as well as hot keys to quickly and effortlessly edit the mask. Brush style controls consist of sliders and drop downs which are located directly inside of Final Cut. Hold down the command key to erase brush strokes from the canvas, while the plus and minus keys are used to adjust the brush size.
Seamless loops
Use this effect to create seamless repeat loops. Start by makeing sure that the footage was taken using a tripod. This ensures that the footage is perfectly still, otherwise you’ll see a clear separation between the still frame and the video footage. Select a still frame from the footage, use the brush tool to reveal areas of motion, and end by seamlessly blending a repeat loop.
Versatile
This effect is great for creating eye catching content for social media, marketing, advertising, and more. Bring your next Final Cut Pro X production to a new level with ProCinemagraph from Pixel Film Studios.

An unintentional surf film... sort of.
I created this film to explore long-form editing, give a home to so many projects/trips/travel that needed some context, and as a tip of the hat to my passion, surfing.

What Youth: Hello, Sea from What Youth on Vimeo.
A surfing boat trip through the Mentawais is usually a dream trip. And hell, maybe this one was too — but it just looked and felt a little different. Probably because upon arrival we were hit with a massive storm. As you’ll read below from Kai’s first dispatch upon arrival in the port of Padang. We had gathered Craig Anderson, Chippa Wilson, Eric Geiselman, Lee Wilson, Dillon Perillo and Yago Dora, a dream crew and a dream location. But, that’s only the beginning.
