A smartphone has turned into one of the most useful devices. It works like a mini computer that easily fits in your pocket or bag, which you can carry around with you wherever you go. Throughout the day, you use your smartphone for multiple reasons. It has become second nature to humans to flip out their phone to check time, check weather, book tickets, place online orders, get directions, pay bills, and the list continues.
We perhaps do it without even realizing how much we depend on our smartphones the entire day. So, here's taking a quick look at the top five everyday use cases of a smartphone.
Communication - Calls, texts, emails and of course, social media
Communication is where today's "smart" phones began their journey from, and evolved into a multi-functional mini-computer. Communication still remains one of the main uses of smartphones. However, it has expanded from just making and receiving calls to text messages, video calls, social media and full-scale media sharing abilities. Staying connected remains one of the primary reasons we need a smartphone.
2. Learning and Education - Online learning apps, research and information on the internet
Smartphones became a game-changer once they were able to connect to the world wide web through internet connection. This allowed smartphones to access all the information available online and present it to the users, becoming an inexhaustible source of learning and research for students and professionals alike. From learning apps and online classes to educational videos, e-books and digital libraries, smartphones can easily give users access to a plethora of data and information available online.
3. Entertainment - OTT platforms and audio and video streaming portals
The internet here is the magic word again! Smartphones once connected to the internet not just offer information but also endless entertainment options. You can stream movies, listen to music, play games and browse social media platforms using a smartphone. Capturing photos and videos of your special moments and sharing them with friends and family is also now simple because of smartphones.
4. Online Payments and Shopping - Mobile money, online banking and ecommerce websites
With improved digital infrastructure and enhanced security protocols, smartphones entered the financial sector as well, leading to an increasing adoption of online banking and mobile money. Many users enjoy the convenience of shopping online, paying their bills, and sending and receiving money using their smartphones.
5. Navigation - Google maps and GPS enabled apps
This is my personal favourite! Smartphones have made reaching a destination so much easier with the help of GPS technology. Getting lost is getting difficult with your smartphone by your side, guiding you safely to where you want to reach. Exploring a new city or travelling late at night has become much safer with the right directions displayed on our phones.
Smartphones have taken connectivity to a whole new level, strongly etching its presence in our everyday life. From communication, travel and education to entertainment and banking, smartphones are being used across multiple aspects of modern living, adding convenience and efficiency and improving safety and overall quality of life.
