what’s the verdict

Harry is the most broken version of what he could be and has made the worst decisions possible with the information he has available to him, and It would of course make sense that he would not begin his life circumcised! Hes french for gods sake. This is not a man who’s parents would not have circumcised him. However, in Harry’s life he completely differs from the way his parents raised him. I think in converting to Dolorianism his views on his body would have changed, maybe up to and including that removing a part of it to be part of the collective was admirable. HOWEVER i do not think he wouldve opted for a circumcision because of this. In this time frame, one of the most common reasons to be circumcised was medical necessity due to an infection under the foreskin, and who do we know in all of DE that would be more likely to have an under foreskin circumcision. I think it is clear that Harry’s (and in parallel, the people of revachol) connection to medical care is fraught, which is why I do not believe he would have sought medical treatment, and instead would have tried to preform his own circumcision drunkenly. I of course do not believe that he is a man that has what it takes to preform an actual circumcision on himself, but do fully believe that he could cut a large chunk of his foreskin off. What i think this leaves him with is something horribly painful, unrecognizable as either cut OR uncut. He is stuck between these two ideals of old and new in a way that keeps him from fully understanding and working towards either.
