Ok, I know i haven't talked much about my X-Men OC, Quinn. I've Catified her 👇, but not given too much context about her backstory.
Long story short, she is a mutant child, born and raised in a lab, eventually being liberated by the X-Men. And being only 5 when she was rescued, she immediately grew attached to Gambit, as he was the one to carry her out of the dreaded hell. She also grew fond of Rogue and Logan as well. Gambit basically adopted her. She has the ability to shapeshift into any animal at will. But even in human form, she has heightened instincts and sharp canine teeth, similar to Logan. Her preferred animal form is a fox. She carries around a fox plushie that was given to her by Jubilee, calling the plush "Mr. Fierce Fox"
Alright, so let's get into it. I'm kinda explaining both what happens in her story plus my thoughts tied to it, so it's kinda long. 👇
Starting with Genosha. (Her story follows the X-Men 97' series) Quinn was only 6 years old when it happened, having wanted to tag along with Gambit and Rogue. Plus, Gambit wanted to show her the mutant paradise after the traumatic upbringing she had. Quinn isn't fond of Magneto (often calling him a grumpy badger in secret), and finds him rather scary, so she mainly sticks with Gambit.
Arriving at Genosha, she immediately bonds with Kurt as well. When she wasn't with Gambit, she was with Kurt, who showed them all around the wonderful paradise.
Quinn was with Kurt when Gambit and Rogue had their conversation that ended with them agreeing just to be friends, much to Gambit's heartbreak. This is important to remember.
Timeskip to the UN Gala, with Quinn wearing a cute little dress that matched Gambit's white suit. She had a grand time, dancing with Kurt and dancing with Gambit. But even though Gambit was smiling, Quinn could still sense his grief and sadness, not understanding why at first.. Until she saw Rogue with Magneto. Then things clicked for the 6 year old. Kids are smarter than we give them credit for.
(Believe me, I have an 8 year old brother and he is SCARILY smart. He was doing multiplication by the time he was 2)
Especically after seeing Rogue and Magneto kiss, Quinn then realized that (mind you she's 6) that Rogue had chose Magneto over Gambit. Seeing Gambit leave the Gala right after that further confirmed it for her. So in her mind, Rogue was a traitor
Then, to make things even worse, the Sentinels (along with the Master Mold? I can't remember what that one big one is called 😭) attacked. Quinn was separated from Kurt in the explosion. She shifted into a fox, scrambling around the debris and chaos, utterly terrified and looking for Gambit. Long tragic story short, She survives, barely, but witnessed Gambit's death.
Afterwards, Quinn basically moved into Gambit's room, overcome with grief. She became possessive over his trenchcoat, even though it was way too big for her. And, after it was recovered from Genosha, she carried around her fox plushie constantly.
But Rogue? Quinn decided that she absolutely hated her, and that she was the reason Gambit was gone. (Mind you she's 6). At one point, she went through a deck of Remy's cards, and removed all the queens from that deck, throwing them across the room in anger. She avoided Rogue like the plague, only seeking comfort from either Kurt or Logan. She didn't speak to Rogue, exited the room when she appeared, and ignored the others' attempts at explaining things for her.
She didn't understand that Gambit had decided to just be friends with Rogue, and that he would wait for her as long as it took. To her? Rogue had broke her father's heart, so being the loyal person she was, wanted to defend his legacy.
Mind you, she didn't want revenge on Rogue, wish she was dead, or anything selfish like that. Yes she was angry, but she still loved Rogue deep down...
Ok, that's it for now. The new episode had my brain running in circles so I just kinda wanted to get this into words lol. Let me know if you want to hear more?
