The Fictional Apotos vs. The Real World Mykonos

I love movies! Do you all know Ice Age?
... Hey, pipsqueak.
"Hello!" ~
He set down the paper in his hands to wave back her greeting to her.
"I got a letter from the dentist; I'm excited to go!"
"Hehe, hmm," a happy chirp escaped his throat. It was a nice day. "I really get to see them?!" Now it was nicer. "How many do you even have? Probably like a thousand!" Fashion and dressing up was so foreign, but it was sure nice to look at. "Maybe you could help me whenever I get clothes; I think that’d be cool! You’re like a master professional."
They walked onto the stone pave that led up to the small home. He’d been living here since the beginning of winter, but walking up this time… he was only excited. Not afraid, no anxiety, only a strong electricity that made him wanna run up and burst down the door with a cheesy smile. “I think you’ll be allowed. Like I said, miss Amy’s nice and she really, really likes new people. Once you see her food, you’ll wanna stay forever! I promise.”
"Maybe you’ll even be allowed to sleep over! Forever!" He teased and poked, but if it came to that, he wouldn’t reject. That would be super cool. He let his imagination glide through the thought as they stepped up on the porch. I wonder how much it costs to buy a bunk bed.
A giant grin grew on his face as he opened the front door and made the first step into the entry. He motioned behind to Kodama to follow suit, keeping a friendly and inviting posture to remind the wolf just how welcome he was. That other question can wait. “Hello! Miss Amy!?” he turned and called into the house, “how much to bunk beds cost!?”
W-… Oops.
It took Kodama awhile to even respond, the thought rush through him how he’d even get Ellie at his place without getting busted by the partner. There’s no way that’d be an easy, even if it seems Ellie is super accepting of him, there’s one thing he’d know would be an awkward thing to even mention to him. There was one big fact that made all that anxiety fade, the fact he had a friend for once it seems. Ellie was still okay with him even after everything Kodama confessed about himself to him, it must have been a good sign then. ”My par-r-rtner s-spoils me to no e-end eheh.." Kodama whispered in the softest side snark he could make, hoping Ellie wouldn’t take much notice to that sentence. "I get n-new out-f-fits weekly am-most! I’d love to sh-show you them! I’m sure lots o-of outfits would look g-good on you too." He continued on, glancing his eyes around front of the house. It was so much different than his home, so different. Like one of those happy little homes in children’s books, a big happy family inside and everything at ease. Compared to the giant Penthouse that you couldn’t miss at the top of a huge building in the city, it was a big difference. "I’m excited to try so-some food by h-her! It sou-sounds great!" Kodama barked, his tail wagging happily. Though compared to the 5 star meals Spencer makes and orders, he was looking forward to try a normal family meal. Then once the words ‘sleep over’ was spoken out by Ellie, Kodama flinched with confusion. The only time he’s ever heard that was from Spencer, when they first did the do. Never thinking it of a friendly night thing. It made his muzzle blush at the memory of hearing that word before, he quickly shook those memories away and looked over to Ellie. "A..Sl-sleep over?? Th-that’d be so i-intere-sting!" "M-maybe yo-you could sl-sleep over at my place so-someday!" He giggled and then his eyes glanced around the home. It looked so nice. 'It's like those houses you see on TV sit-coms!' Kodama though to himself with a innocent tone. And then Ellie said the thing.. Wait, bunk bed?! Why? Ah whatever the otter meant for, it made Kodama laugh lightly instantly. Then the wave of anxiety blew back, he was too nervous to speak up just yet to say hi, Ellie already got it through.
Flinging dirt and dust through the relaxing, home scented air, he stomped his shoes against the tile, as his manners told him to. "It is a pretty house, huh!" he shouted, still having not adjusted his tone to the indoors, "Wait 'till you see my room! I have lots of stuff my mama and papa sent me from my house."
Strutting through the living room, his confidence shone brightly through a cheeky grin, happy to be today's tour guide. "This is the living room. Mr. Sonic bought that big TV because he sits on the couch and watches movies a lot!" He hopped up beside the wall-mounted television and waved his hands around it, like car salesmen in the commercials he so attentively observed. "It's the biggest one I've ever seen, I think. Do you watch TV?"
He carried his grand tour through the dining room, the hallway, and to the kitchen for food. An apple and a slice of bread for the both of them, just as a good, hospitable host should offer, or... whatever Amy said.
He brought Kodama in and out of each bedroom. Princeton's, clean and mysterious; Amy and Sonic's, clean and messy split right through the middle; and Paige's, unique and... always confusing. "Normally I'm not allowed in her room, but I don't think she'd mind for you!" his friendly smile and unsure eyes sent very mixed feelings about how even he felt about it, "Just, just be a little quite, okay."
______
"I don't think anybody's home right now anyway," he spoke, gazing down at the skull candlewarmer in his hands, "... she really has funny stuff in here." He sat down low on the room's bed, his legs stretched uncomfortably outward to the floor. She is really short. She should go to the doctor sometime, maybe.
"She has even more stuff in her closet if you wanna see!"
Paige looked like she was going to be sick.
Aria sat on Ellie’s hip, looking eager and perky and — Chaos, was she over reacting? Even Penelope, who was usually shy and reserved, had found a spot to sit and lean against the otter’s leg. That should’ve been a sign. Her girls felt comfortable around the boy she practically considered her second brother, so leaving the alone with him for a few hours shouldn’t of been that jarring. She’d gone out on dates with Frost since their birth before.
Of course, she’d left her twins with her mother. Her mom was great with children. Ellie… … Elie tended to get overwhelmed. And overzealous.
He almost broke her hip once, when she was 18 and he was 20. Paige chewed her lip. Visions of bloody, matted white fur and crumpled little delicate hoglette bodies came in violent tandem and she was sure for a moment that she would get sick right then and there for even considering to leave he babies alone with him.
Frost, however, was all grins.
"We’ll back in a few hours! That new kung fu movie is playing and it looks so cool —"
"It looks dumb as f— dumb as heck,” she grumbled. No swearing in front of her babies. Frost’s rules.
"— COOL. Paige has bad taste in everything except for men. And by men I mean me," he grinned at Ellie. "Thanks for babysitting! You know how stubborn Paige gets."
“I’m right here.”
"Oh!" Ellie chirped, bouncing Aria on his hip. She giggled and snuggled her chin against his shoulder blade, enthralled with the fabric of his scarf and how it felt between her pudgy fingers. "It’s okay! We’re going to play Candy Land and Paige won’t have to worry about a thing! I watched Princeton’s chao once."
Princeton’s chao wasn’t two baby girls — two baby girls that Paige had fought arm and leg to give birth to.
Frost must’ve finally snapped out of his euphoric daze and slumped an arm around her. He was warm, and he might’ve been reassuring if she wasn’t so sure that she was going to cry.
x
When they came home, Ellie was asleep on the floor and clutching an empty bottle, surrounded by blocks and rapidly drying playdough. The girls were in the (empty) bath tub.
2cool4fast replied to your post: “Help me reach where Princeton hid the cheesecake.”:
... The... fridge, Ellie?
"Got it!"
He shoved aside the plastic food container he was peering into, and slid across the tile to the refrigerator. Swinging it open without restraint, and nearly unhinging the door, he lowered his brow and veered his head as far into the fridge as possible.
"I'm not seeing it!" his muffled voice carried through the house, "maybe he hides it under his bed like I d- .... like I did. A long time ago. And not anymore."
She didn't suspect a thing. Phew.
El-ellie you should come over fo-for a sleepover sometime!
Hello Kodama! Kodaman. Koda-man!
Why is Frost in my head today?
I'd like that! Maybe tomorrow or the next day or the next day! I should call mama before we do though. Also we need to buy candy. Also you should ask your dad! I don't want him to be mad.
Also we really need candy. I'll ask miss Amy for money!
Help me reach where Princeton hid the cheesecake.
"You got it!" he screamed with a confidence resembling the old fart of a hedgehog in the other room.
He sprinted into the kitchen and began tearing through pots, pans, forks, knives; even the dirty dishes in the sink were lifted and tossed to the side of the counter.
*CLANK* *TING* *SMASH*
"Paige, where did you say they were?!"
shotaotta started following you
He picked his eyes up from their laserbeam gaze at the cement; his stomach untwisting and frown overturning.
H- y-yes he’s nice. Okay, check. What’s next, what’s next…
"Heh, y- uhm, yes I’m very okay.. and very sorry still- a-again," he muttered, "I run into people lots. My friend Paige says I have a bowling ball for a head, bu- I mean, I think that’s weird. Because I don’t, I promise..!" He demonstrated his trustworthiness by holding gloved hands against his head, and attempted to lift it off his shoulders. "See! It’s real.."
What did she ever mean anyway? Paige, you’re silly.
… INTRODUCTION! THAT WAS WHAT’S NEXT!
"Oh! I’m Ellie! I also like your.. a- mm ears." Gah. He scuffed his shoes against the ground, swinging his arms at his sides as he spoke. Awkwardness shouldn’t have felt so foreign and… awkward. Maybe those morning drinks the coffee girl kept sneaking over were getting in his head.
”.. So uhm, do you like Monarch butterflies?”
Nn- no wait, what? Agh, please pull it together.
Snow was a bit confused by what the otter was talking about at first then a word resonated with him. “Oh you know Paige?” Snow said perking up with a smile as his tail wagged a bit. “She is like my best friend.” He said as he walked next to the Otter, he was a little spastic but kind of cute.
"Oh thank you, I am Snow…It is nice to meet you Ellie…I like that name." He said as he flicked his ears and then folded them back at the compliment, he wasn’t used to those. "I actually have never thought about that, they are really pretty." He said with a smile "I guess I do, he." He said with a light chuckle. "Do you like Monarch butterflies?" Snow was so bad at conversation.
"Paige is your best friend!?" he spit his words out, "Is it the same Paige? Are you sure? She has blue hair, and really likes lettuce?" This was so weird. This city is so big; why does everybody know everybody all the time? It was never this tightly bonded in Apotos, even if every person''s home was three inches away from everyone else.
Paige, how could you not tell me? Did you and Coffee Girl break up? .. Ga-uhh, never mind right now.
"That's so cool!" He rocked his weight back and forth on his heels to his toes. Completely tossing out the intention to actually go to Uncle Tails' wor- ... Mister Tails' ... workshop, as planned, he swung back around to stand beside the pale fox. "Let's go where you're going! I won't keep getting in your way." A genuine grin returned to his muzzle, and pace returned to his heart. Falling into strangers was the best way to make friends.
"Butterflies are nice. I once saw one as big as my hand, but it was far away and papa said I was over exaggerating. He doesn't know."
I wonder if this is one of Frost's sisters... No, no, that can't be it. Sisters are girls. Mm...
I’ll weigh down your bike, cool guy.
You weigh about as much as my tail.
I wish. Have you seen my ass? Chaos.
I’d rather ride other things.
Oh.
Oh.
OH I SEE. MHM. I SEE.
And no painted flames. Or I’m putting my clothes back on and leaving.
But it already got flames on it…they’re blue…like the color of your beautiful perfect fur.
… My perfect beautiful fur.
Fine. The flames can stay. Ugh.
Hello!

"Ahh!"
Oh no. Oh no no no, not again. Please not again.
Stumbling forward, he habitually threw his hands out to catch… anything. Anything that may luckily land in his hands and avoid inevitable embarrassment. Anything to keep from breaking into a thousand pieces all over the pavement like last time. Anything-
… Wait, was I even holding anything?
A hard thud broke the millisecond of a thought, following an immediately numb face. “Gurgh…” he groaned. C’mon, we recited this.
He slowly picked himself to his feet, keeping his eyes focused to the ground he recently became acquainted with, and began his speech. Same as always. Easy.
"I’m very sorry I ran into you; it was my fault. I hope you don’t think any less of me." He really was genuinely apologetic, though over the time he’d been here and fallen face-first into as many people as he had, it wasn’t as easy sounding so. He carried out his deadpan apology until his thoughtful eyes finished scanning through the script in the front of his mind, and invisible on the pavement. -"and that’s why I’d be very grateful if you forgave me."
I hope I didn’t forget anything.
Snow listened to the boys entire apology, although he blamed himself, it was Snows fault entirely. “No, no you didn’t do it, I wasn’t paying attention, you aren’t hurt are you?” Snow asked remembering how when he had hit the ground face first his nose and began to bleed, the thought of that night made his scar burn slightly.
He wanted to grab it but refrained as he adjusted his glasses instead. “I..I am Snow and you are?” He asked, it made since considering he ran into this boy to at least introduce himself, he let his eyes scan the person before him as they went down and then back up, then he noticed the boys hair was more than one color and Snow’s shining blue eyes got huge. “Oh! Your hair! I love it.” He said with a wide smile.
He picked his eyes up from their laserbeam gaze at the cement; his stomach untwisting and frown overturning.

Snow bumped into the short otter boy and had to fix his new glasses on his face, so he could see who he had run into as he opened his eyes he saw green and then his eyes adjusted to see a boy standing before him. “Oh…I..I’m sorry!” He said quickly scrambling to his feet. “You are the second person I have run into like that this week, maybe I should have my prescription checked.” He said with a light chuckle trying to make a joke.
